I seem to remember that there used to be a problem with long threads clogging up the server somehow - if a thread went too long, it would be locked, and another thread would be opened for discussion to continue.
I haven’t seen this recently, even though there is a certain thread in Cafe Society which is up to 24 pages. So, two questions: what problems did long threads cause and why, and why are they no longer problematic?
