NoClueBoy, I didn’t see you for a while and just assumed that you felt guilty about not responding to my postcard from Paris.
I need a smilie that conveys a state of miffedity…
Zoe sent me a wonderful post card from Paris!
It was subatomic, baby!
I probably missed some others, too, in my rush to buy my own postcards.
Oh yeah, I also worked out of town in some godawful little town full of cyberpunk hillbillies for about 2 weeks or less or so right around that time, so when I came back, I just erased all my emails and cleared my cookies and stuff. I erase phome messages, too. Nothing personal to anyone who caled or sent something, it’s just my T-Rex mentality. Besides, people called my on the cell, not even knowing I was out of town. Some knew, and just wanted to tell me stuff. Plus, some girl missed me. She doesn’t miss me now, except maybe tonight, 'cause I had to go see about a job I needed to get paid for before the holiday set in completely. Hey, I’m taking her to the lake tomorrow! But, I had no net access during that time.
What was my point anyways? (And people wonder why I have so many more posts than they do. Ha! I can’t complete a thought! Take that, Boba Phet!)
Though I see her on LJ, Sister Coyote isn’t around anymore.
The sky abuv th’ port was the color of a tee-vee tuned to dead channel. Clem downed the methamphetamine annielogs and had hisself some more pickled hog jowls.
The bartender asked ‘im ifn he wanted another. The mad had an artiefisshul arm- not one of those new fangled new ones what you kin hardly even tell they ain’t real- this was an old fashioned clunky thingamajigger wrapped in a pink sleeve like a gigantic dishwashing glove- it was uglier than th’ woman ya wake up with after drinkin’ a whole keg by yerself.
Never dismiss the cyberpunk hillbillie, folks. Y’all should be afeared o’ their plumb crazy leet skillz.
Doc, remind me to never get you pissed off.
NoClueBoy, I just wanted to be sure that you got the message and to let you know that you were missed.
Anyone who calls a this 60 year old woman “Baby,” can get away with murder. All is forgiven.
I was away for a long time, and only came back properly once the boards went subscription. Aren’t I just nutty? I bet you all think I’m great.
Aw, shucks… [looks down, kicks at dirt]
Well, I guess when ya average over 15ppd, even a fortnight’s absence is noticable. Thanks.
Hi, Ross! Glad yer back.
Next time you talk to him, you might let him know that someone paid for his subscription. He is listed as a member, and his location and post count shows, and that happens when someone is a paid member but have not logged in since becoming a paid member. So if he did not pay, someone thought enough of him to pay it for him. Apparently anonymously.
I thought Quantum Foam was from that episode when Sam Beckett had rabies.
Did you happen to see any Alien Nazis in that cyberhillbilly town?
–viva, irrelevantly as always
That happens whether someone has paid or not.
Oops, hit submit too soon. Anyways, pick someone at random. Say, like this guy. He’s listed as a member, but I’m willing to bet he hasn’t been subscribed.
Man, I miss ol’ BlueHobo, I wonder if he’s burnt the plant down yet. I enjoyed all of his posts.
Sealemon is alive and well on Livejournal. And yes, he’s a father. :^)
No, I don’t mean his profile. In a thread, the location and post count only show up on a post if the subscription is paid. Look at the thread linked earlier, Scylla’s post has his post count on it.

I’m not sure that’s the case, either.
If you look through older threads, you will see the occasional “member” with all their info listed, even if they haven’t logged on in a couple of years.
Like this guy: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=1971824&postcount=21
I suspect there is something else at work here.
Guess so. I have only seen it when I was taking care of subscriptions for people during the initial signup. After paying for them, their status would change from Guest to Member and their info would start showing, but the Charter Member would not show until they logged in. Oh well, it was worth a try.

After lengthy discussions and e-mails with both Tubadiva and Ed Zotti, several things have been brought to my attention that require me to offer my apology in this thread.
First, let me say that I was away for the Independence Day weekend, so I didn’t see Ed’s post until I was already back for a day, and then after talking with him and Tuba it’s taken me some time to compose this follow-up post.
Second, I want to be clear that I did not intend to imply that Scylla committed plagiarism - I only meant to comment on the existence of a previous discussion; however, it is clear now that it was inappropriate for me to do so.
Third, I committed the sin Cecil would likely tut-tut me over - I posted what I’d heard rather than taking the time to follow up with factual information. In trying to present all the information I knew about the topic at hand (i.e., the existence of previous discussions), I inadvertently perpetuated erroneous information. Both Tuba and Ed informed me that they are satisfied with information previously presented to them and the Reader (information of which I was unaware) that Scylla is indeed the original author of the blimp story, and no evidence has been presented to disprove that. I also neither dispute such evidence nor have evidence to the contrary.
Fourth, I remembered the discussions about who wrote the piece had happened here on the SDMB, but Tuba pointed out to me that they hadn’t, so what I thought had been a rehashing elsewhere online had actually been the entire discussion. I know the rules about “crossovers” with other online forums and the SDMB and that wasn’t my intent - I erroneously recalled that it had been discussed here first.
If I had known the previous question of authorship had already been answered to the SDMB’s satisfaction I wouldn’t have had reason to mention a discussion that has since proven to be in error. As it stands by bringing it up at all I am clearly in error and could be seen as trying to disseminate false information. So, in short, I sincerely apologize to Scylla, the SDMB, and the Reader for my ignorance, and rescind any inferences of plagiarism that may have been perceived.
