Looking ahead in the MMP

After my previous post I went downstairs to the kitchen table, where I finished both the leftover pizza from Saturday night and the Crocodile Locomotive:

I nearly started to build Mayor Manor, but instead I relocated a few feet away to the main floor sofa (vs the TV room couch) and did some readin’ for a while. At around 4pm I found myself ready to do something else, so now I’m up in my home office catching up on the MMP and ordering some stuff from Da Jungle that I’ve been thinking about getting.

I’ve also decided to do some work today, after all…well, not actual work so much as some inbox cleanout. I never really caught up on my work emails last week: after having no network account for 3 business days, and with the desk move and several all-day work sessions, I was only able to focus on the nearest alligators to the boat. But I want to delete/file the messages that I don’t have to act on, get a better feel for what tomorrow’s to-do list should look like, and draft some emails that I’ll send out in the morning. I can’t see spending more than an hour or so up here; then I’ll move to the first floor for the remainder of the day/evening (for laundry and TV).

Thank you!! When I was at CVS the other week (to pick up the prescription that both was and wasn’t there) I asked about the updated COVID vax, and was told they’d be getting it soon but I forgot to follow up. I just scheduled that and a flu vax for Saturday morning. A little extra protection for the short trip to NY – and concert – later this month can’t hurt.

Oh wow, I’d completely forgotten about that brand of chips! They’re no Utz, but I know I liked them.

:joy:

If you’re into stories about a former Army soldier who kicked ass but left because he wouldn’t follow illegal orders and then got an MBA and worked on Wall Street for a while before being forced to work clandestinely for the federal government, and who can still kill someone 50 different ways with his bare hands but has retained his moral compass, you’ll like this series.

I’m so glad she’s back/alright…and that you haven’t murdered her yet! :joy:

She almost took care of that herself. My house is a couple hundred yards from a very busy fast moving street. Fortunately some aware drivers were on it and stopped with flashers on when she went stupiding into the road. A couple of dudes hopped out of their work truck and helped herd her up my off shoot street where she found (and showed me) her newest hole in the fence.

I had BLTs for lunch. But I had fogotten to buy enough tomatoes, so I ran to the Rich People’ Harris Teeter. And a six pack of beer fell into my cart while I was going to the checkout. I also bought hamburger buns, because my Spider sense was tingling. It was right, because the pack at home was green and fuzzy.

Why?

indeed.

Just make sure the house panther didn’t buy you 300,000 shares of Amalgamated Metals.

Sounds like both beagles I owned.

Afternoon all. Just checked and the makeup soccer game I was thinking about refereeing this afternoon has a full crew so I don’t have to go back out into the heat. I like refereeing, maybe even more than coaching, but prefer it when the temperatures are about 25F cooler than now (Weather Wizards say it is 89F).

It has been a moderately pleasant surprise that I can exercise discipline in regards to ice cream and can limit myself to 1/3 to 1/2 a pint (depending on calories) at any time, so have been stocking up a bit. Just wish I had the same discipline with cookies and potato chips (believe me, I have tried and failed many times…).

Anyway, rest of the day will be occupied by sloth except for a short trip to the nearest Mickey D’s for the usual Moanday Burger and fries. Interesting to note, McDonald’s Double Quarter pounder with Cheese and large fries is only 1,220 calories, which is lower than almost any combo like it from the other fast food chains. Probably because they don’t use Mayo…

And playing catch-up…

Mollie, Wise chips are pretty good, but see above, I cannot control myself when potato chips are in the house and available. Brownies sound awfully good too.

flyboy, it has fooled me too (bin movement sounding like thunder).

Bright Tree, love is letting your dog lick your feet. And speaking of canines, glad Ollie is doing fine.

You really, really don’t want to know…

I could stand to hear a little more…(bonus points for ID’ing the reference-except doggio, I would bet money he gets it right off).

lily, probably looking for the mouse…

Dicey, good luck on the cranberry hunt.

Nut, yeah, I concur, no matter how bad an employee she was, it should have been handled with more class than that. Thanks for the agricultural lesson, too.

VanGo, glad Ms. Peach ran into some good folks instead of being run into, and she needs to learn privileges are earned.

Oopsie, lovely work on the engine, and deleting all the un-needed messages in my in-box was one of the least-favorite parts of my job.

And that’s all for the mid-day report. Need to get back to some serious slacking.

Oppsie Utz are my second favorite. Wise appear to be cooked just a wee bit longer, resulting in a GBD that cannot be beat. They also use a lot of salt.

Metal Mouse This time, I’ll be able to control myself. No, really!

Mrs. Nott started to drag the trash bins out to the street, but a neighbor told her there’s no pick-up on Labor Day. Maybe tomorrow.

I recently started reading The Silver Bone. It’s a mystery set in Russia a long time ago. It starts out with a cassock (cossack?) riding up to the protagonist and his father. He splits the father’s skull with a saber, killing him. Then he takes another swipe at the son which cleanly lops off his ear. Then he rides off.

Maintenance is shutting the water off tomorrow, possibly for 8 hours. Fixing the pipes. Ive been told they will fix my ceiling which has been dripping for over a month.
Im going out so I can wash hands etc.
Maybe the mall, library, grocery.

She’s more into Acme.

Whelp, I got the flu shot, but my insurer auto-denied the COVID vax. Why? Well, for one thing, my state retiree insurance plan jobbed out patient management to an incompetent entity, vile enough that State o’ Oregon has dropped Providence as a plan provider starting with this open enrollment. This secondary entity regularly screws up normal claims. For another thing, said evil entity may not have updated its formulary to include the fall COVID shot. Thirdly, I am about 2-1/2 weeks early for a 6-month update, which has never been an issue because I have diabetes and asthma and am about to take a flight and stay in a dorm with a buncha other humans and I leave before the magic 182.5-day mark. Which of these is the answer? We don’t know because they don’t staff on Labor Day. So I may or may not be able to get my shot tomorrow. If they won’t give it because it’s a couple-few weeks early and I die of COVID, I expect all’a y’all to support my lovely wife in a massive lawsuit.

:musical_notes:Floozy in the morning,
:musical_notes:Floozy in the evening,
:musical_notes:Floozy at suppertime. . . . :musical_note:

:musical_notes:Raindrops keep bouncing off my head. . . .

Would you prefer hailstones?

“Good morning” is all I say – don’t bother with “Good afternoon” or “Good evening”. If someone points out that it’s after 1200, I just say “It’s morning somewhere!”

Well, don’t just sit there. . . .

Those are both easy to find around here, but my favourites are Ruffles (with r-r-r-r-ridges).

We’re not from the gummint, but we are here to help.

Our neighbours have a gravel driveway, so when they’re taking their bins to/from the street it always sounds like there’s a big truck out there.

Howdy Y’all! I domesticated and made the beans and N.O.T. sallit this mornin’. Then we honed our RDOS sloth skills with nappage and day drinkin’. OYKW grilled the burgers and we had an enjoyable Labor Day Sup. Plus, I remembered to haul the biiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Go Me!

Well, I declared myself a grumpy old man when I turned sixty in 2014. In 2010 I was still a grumpy old man in trainin’.

BooFae hope the problem child problem is resolved soonest.

FlyBoy I think you would win a scariest jury duty story competition! YIKES!

52 things are comin’ right along at Chez 52! HUZZAH!

Cookie glad the a/c is back up and runnin’.

It was briefly concerning. Of course, when I moved to L.A. there were gunshots in the alley and neighbourhood… so much so that I decided that the next time there was shooting in the alley, I’d should, ‘Do you mind? People are trying to sleep!’ Immediately after that, the Crips and the Bloods entered a truce, and there was no more shooting.

Closing in on 10pm and will be heading off to bed here shortly, but wanted to get one last posting in on ‘Busy Moanday’. Burger has been et along with a bunch of French fries (another item I cannot be trusted to bring into the house) so should be good until tomorrow.

Ah, you really do understand…

Knots, well, that’s one way to start a novel, grab the reader’s attention with death and mutilation…

Coppertone, hope the water fix solves your problems. Sounds like you already are looking at alternatives.

lily, hope you can get your shot tomorrow, insurance is nice but somedays I wonder if Europe has the better idea…

flyboy, don’t think I’ve ever heard a shot around this place (or most any other) as I have stayed pretty much in middle-class suburbia, but given that over 50% of Ali-bamians own guns and there are 200,000 concealed carry licenses issued so far…

And that’s a fairly depressing thought, so I will drink some Pepsi and go to bed. See y’all tomorrow.

I did that thing where you go to the Gettin’ Sto’ and buy fud, and then when you get home & get it all tucked away, you’re too tired to either cook or eat.

Future me has a coupla raw chicken thighs to bake/roast, & fresh multigrain sourdough bread (ooooh, and those cute tiny yellow N.O.T.!) awaiting energy & appetite.

For now, some fancy-schmancy yogurt, and maybe (in honor of our Brits) a microwaved cuppa Lipton  is probably all I can manage.

I have been known to travel with small amounts of mixed sprinkle-ons (a slightly spicy sesame/ginger/garlic crunch, and an onion/butter “popcorn blend” that is nice on many other things) to work.

Adds zazzz to snax.

Have you not been able to handle basic hygiene in the meantime, for that long?

If so, I would raise absolute unholy hell.

Me too, after some serious refilling of the bin. But the needful has been accomplished, to the gentle sound of late-nite over testosterone hot rods & motorcycles ribbity frogs.

I actually have a CCL. I never carry. It’s just that they’re impossible to get in L.A., and I just got one here because I could.

I just schlepped in my door after driving back from Denver, visiting my younger son and his lovely bride.

The cat has stopped yelling at me for boarding her with a friend who gives out gooshy and wet food twice a day. We’ll see if she forgives me enough by morning to sit on my lap, purring and head-butting my coffee mug.

Gonna take my pills, brush my teeth and plop into bed. I turned the AC to 85 while I was gone and now I’ll have to try to fall asleep in a very warm house.

Tomorrow is a 8:30am on granddaughter play day as she’s out of school one more day but both parents have to work. Fine by me, I really missed all 3 grands while I was in Denver.

Hopefully I can catch up with you all tomorrow.

Change of plans. Now Future Shoe is huuuuunnngry. So there are a few buttered lil taters, half an onion (I shoulda bought two!!) roasting under a single thigh.

Oh, with some jarred minced garlic, to make my kitchen scary to vampires.

I didn’t think to get carrots, so the veggie quota is a bit bereft tonight.

{ popsicles from Michigan }

No, when they shut the water off, I wont be able to wash hands during.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 64 degrees Ferret Height(17.778 Centipedes).

I haven’t heard musch here. When I lived in Da Hood, it was another story.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/57f with a predicted high of 18c/64f and a chance of rain. Weather app says “My fucking favourite rainy day activity is going back indoors and putting my fucking pyjamas back on.” I agree!

52 glad to hear that you got all those blinds into place, sounds like an extremely productive day.

scudsucker that would not impress me at all, I’d seriously reconsider wanting to work for a company like that.

Oopsie you deserve a day off after the week you’ve had, and the week you’ve got coming up!

Bright Tree thanks for the vote of confidence  I need to wait for our Wellbeing team to tell me what was in the student’s extenuating circumstances application before I can work out what we can do with her

VanGo sounds like Ms Peach led you quite the merry dance. I’m glad to hear the drivers were able to help get her back home without any damage. She’s going to be under house arrest at this rate!

BBBoo welcome home!

Yesterday was a productive day for me, got lots of things done that needed to be fixed. I logged out a litte late but not too much, had some sofa time then headed to the gym for a spin class. I must have been feeling energetic, I peaked at 165rpm on a sprint which is very unusual for me! Came home and gathered up the rubbish, then hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. I provided dinner (tarragon chicken with pasta) and we watched the latest episode of “Lanterns” before it was bedtime for me.

Today I have a scrutiny meeting ahead of tomorrow’s Board of Examiners meetings, I’m not anticipating any issues with my stuff as I’ve got everything done except for Problem Child. There are two possible outcomes for her, I just need someone to let me know which one we’re taking. I also need to send 'im indoors to get some spare keys cut for reserve catsitter, and he’s picking up lunch from the Good Indian Place. I have to prepare campus food for the rest of the week, and I’m off to the gym later. He’s cooking tonight so at least I don’t need to worry about that.
