Looking ahead in the MMP

Afternoon all.

Another day of writing, pacing and being bewildered. Tis currently sunny and a bit windy, but there’s rain showers around according to the radar, so I’m not risking laundry today. Normally they miss if they’re coming from that direction, due to some conveniently placed mountains, but…

BooFae I wish we have a good Indian place round here, most of the local ones are outright bad, and even the best are only OK. I reckon I got spoiled living in Bristol…

My, but y’all are a talkative bunch this week.

I’m here at Sis’ for a few days. My weekend was spent in the horsepistol with a waste management issue. Oy! Anyway, it’s good to be back on the outside.

Well Mollie and whoever else was talking about it, I am currently eating Utz Honey Wheat Pretzels for breakfast. They’re the best brand that I’ve found all things considered. When I’m done I need to get dressed and go wrestle the trash to the curb.

It continues to be interesting around here, but in good ways. MusicMan and I traded in two cars to get one new one since he’s going back over the road. We even got exactly what I wanted! A new Hyundai Santa Cruz is currently sitting in the driveway. We got this car because it reminds me so much of my dad. His last car was a Subaru Baja. Yes, I know it’s not exactly the same, but the memories are there.

Then I got the driving trial all the way home from dropping off MusicMan at his truck in Columbus. While in Columbus we actually got my (former)Work Bestie to come meet us for lunch. I was so glad that she did and surprised, too, seeing as she lives near Kings Island. Altogether a nice weekend.

Today I meet another student in the homeschool adventure. Tomorrow I’ll meet the other three. At that point I’m certain that Annie will be here at home with a Sticks voodoo doll of some sort.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven a.m. :person_in_bed: ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. I am so excitated! Actually, sheets are sloshin’ away as I post. We may or may not have some quality cee-mint pond time as the weather is bein’ cooperative enough that would be good. There will, of course, be the usual RDOS sloth. Sup will be grilled ham steak with the leftover baked beans and N.O.T sallit. Probably rolls as well.

Coppertone hope TPTB get your leak fixed for real today. Wise decision to be out of the place whilst that’s happenin’.

BBBoo welcome back! Hope you were able to sleep in a warm house. Also hope you are forgiven by the feline overlord.

shoe your mention of chikin thighs is makin’ me think I should make Death Chikin sometime soon. I prefer it with chikin thighs.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I woke to 58 Ferrets, on the way to mid-80s. Weds and Thurs are potentially around low 90s, then we drop thru the 80s to the 70s within the next couple of weeks. Dare I hope that the season will finally change??

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard some, but we live in the boonies, and, well, hunters…

FCD had one and loved it… and then some woman hit him and totaled it. What color did you get? We saw an orange one (!!!) the other day and it just looked wrong..

My mom has an appointment to close her pool for the season next week. The weather forecast I saw indicates she chose exactly the right time.

OMG, am I being hit with dog-related ads on my tablet!! All the high-priced foods, and supplements, and harnesses, and training courses… There’s one food ad that leaves me shaking my head - it starts out whining about how expensive The Farmer’s Dog brand is, then it shows someone tossing 2 unopened packages of it into the trash. So, wait, it’s expensive, so you’re trashing it?? Plz 'splain…

The newest one is for raw food and it includes a “skeptic” asking if it’s safe. Because dogs in the wild all cook their prey. Then there’s the one pushing only the purest food (not the exact wording, but you get the idea) - as if that dog wouldn’t eat poop out of the cat box.

I think the mistake I made was clicking on one ad, trying to see what it would cost to feed it to Otis - just curiosity, since he’s doing fine on what we feed him. Anyway, I guess some cookie has marked me for life, till I click on something else to push dog food and harnesses and obedience training out of the queue. That’s the price you pay for games you download for free.

Today’s plans… apart from a quick grocery run, nothing specific yet. Except taking the truck to the shop - its Check Engine light came on. Then I think I’ll head down and clear the area around my kiln. FCD has ordered some bits that we need to repair its exhaust system and I’m hoping we get it all operational soon. I may even have a go at reconstituting some clay. Roxy has been asking to make something and I have several pieces that have been in the drying cabinet for a couple of years - I think they’re probably dry enough now. I’m pretty sure I need to reconstitute some glaze, too. So maybe it’ll be a studio day.

Onward, then! Happy Tuesday!

Good morning. It’s after Labor Day, and that means self-appointed Fashion Police are muttering about no shorts, no white, no straw hats, no, no, no. I don’t care.

I actually have a CCL. I never carry. It’s just that they’re impossible to get in L.A., and I just got one here because I could.

The U.S. is seriously over-gunned. However, not every CCL holder carries, or even owns, a gun. I have a CCL, though I sold the few guns I had years ago. It’s an emotional issue for many people, and I hope we haven’t let the cat out of the Pandora’s can of worms by talking about it.

It’s Tuesday, time to wind the clock. I think the trash pick-up company is doing Monday’s pick-up today, in addition to today’s workload.

Good morning.

It’s 52F, dark and clear outside. Sunrise is in about 20 minutes. It’ll remain clear today, with sunshine and an expected high of 76F.

Speaking of closing the pool for the season, our large waterpark is closing after fifty years. It started out as Enchanted Village in the late 70s with fairy-tale structures and a merry-go-round. By the early eighties, it became a waterpark with slides, a wave pool, and rollercoasters. It went through many owners and various expansions or new rides, but (according to them), COVID helped kill it off. It’ll all be razed, and for now, a million-square-foot warehouse will cover the land it stands on.

We took the family there once, when my husband’s company had its annual company picnic there. It was nearly 100 degrees that day, and I made the mistake of going on the loopy-de-loop rollercoaster. I became very ill. Thankfully, that happened toward the end of the day, so the kids got to enjoy the park for a good, long while.

We never went otherwise, because it was stupidly expensive, at least for us.

Red, I’m so glad you live near your sister now. It seems your health woes keep knocking you down. I hope you’re feeling better now.

Lily, I hope you can get your shot today.

VanGo, I’m so happy there were good people around to round up Ms. Peach.

Well, yesterday’s hunt for a preassembled file cabinet (that isn’t metal) was unsuccessful. I went to Home Away, Home Goods, a new discount store with all kinds of stuff, Wal-Mart, Target, Fred Meyer, and Office Depot. I would have continued the hunt at a couple of furniture stores, but my husband had asked me to bring back lunch, so once again, I felt under the gun to get back with some lunch at a reasonable time.

Once I got home, I tidied up downstairs and then did all the laundry. That was pretty much it for the day.

I need to run to the post office today and then to UPS. I need to go to the post office to buy stamps and mail my sister’s check, then to UPS because I found some vintage ornaments for my daughter and need to send them to her. I used to have a set of these ornaments. But because trees fell after the cat climbed them and things, I only had two left, and only one could hang on the tree. My daughter asked for it years ago, and I gave it to her. I’ve been searching for these things for years and finally found them on eBay. They are in top-notch condition, and I’m super excited about sending them to her.

I’m not sure if we’re still going to ride bikes today. I wouldn’t mind if we didn’t. I’m just not feeling it, honestly.

Alrighty, I’d better get some nutrition inside me. I only ate one meal yesterday. I was too full from lunch to eat dinner, and I entirely skipped my morning yogurt and banana.

Take care of yourselves, please.

We’ve dropped off the truck to be looked at since it popped up the Check Engine light. Plus it’s been almost a year since the oil was changed, so we’ll get that seen to also. I’m just back from Aldi and and a fruitless stop at Weis.

FCD took Otis to look into a kennel for our October trip. I did some quick math - when we go on our cruise, it’ll cost about $900 for him to stay at our preferred place, and over $1K if he has to go elsewhere. I’d love to find someone to stay here while we’re gone, but Daughter’s friend who stayed here last year is now teaching, so she can’t do it. Oh well…

Guess I’ll head down to my studio and have a go at organization. Rah.

hey!

the weekend was good. started out with the office closing at 2pm on friday. i decided to go to the foo foo restaurant for lunch. yummy ravioli, and the cranberry walnut bread is amazing. the foo foo french butter was to die for, sooooo, creamy, soooo yummy. then i took a quick look in anthopologie on the way to the shuttle, i ended up with a plate and bowl.

saturday was the usual shopping trip. then the usual weekend stuff. i did get to some decluttering and tiding. there was much cat snuggling. lager was very happy to have a human cat bed. koritza comes by for sweettalk and skritches.

so many 9-11 videos are popping up on my youtube. i can’t believe it has been 25 years.

asknott, you have a handful of days to wear those straw hats, felt hat day is sept. 15th. wear those straw hats proudly for 6 more days!

taters, for the file thing, have you tried the container store? michaels?

i prefer herrs for crispy snacks. i will buy ruffles ( have rrrridges) in a pinch, some times i will go for bugles, doritos nacho, muchos, and rarely fritos (which are a really good fire starter).

Good morning! I may have made a strategic error last night by insisting that I could read just one more chapter before going to bed… three times.

Tonight is the college fair. Mrs Magill has a PTSO meeting, so she’s sending Squeaky with me. I think he’s pretty sure on which schools he wants to apply to, but we’ll go, just in case there is another school out there that he’s overlooked. I need to print out the address labels. In Fang’s junior year, we started printing mailing labels with his contact information, so we could just peel and stick on those “contact me” cards the recruiters have, rather than writing this crap out twenty-five thousand times. This is why Mrs Magill is the smart one.

Metal Mouse I was able to only have one snack bowl of potato chips last night. I have long ago learnt to never eat directly out of the bag, otherwise one bag would be one serving, and I would weigh three hundred pounds.

Egad!!!

Sticky Buns I like Utz Sourdough Pretzels. Mrs Magill likes to spread pimento cheese on them. And conga-rats on getting the car you wanted. That’s always a thrill, not having to settle for your second or third choice.

Well, Brand X is so much cheaper, you may as well trash the more expensive stuff. I mean, if I squint, I can sorta see the logic. The logic is not sound, by any means, but it’s there… kinda?

This is how we know Chloé misses the rabbit[1] - she’s taken to snuffing around in the yard to find rabbit scat.

  1. Or at least his lttter box ↩︎

Had a bit of lightning last night but it was off in the far distance. We’re supposed to get some t-storm weather today at some point, but these fronts have a habit of passing to one side or the other of the city.

Today’s fun will be. . . . .. . .more laundry! Sheets and towels, here I come!

Avocado on bagel this morning. Also cheesy scrambled eggs. Have to order more bagels from New Yorker Bagels.

I need to see if anyone has disposed of the dead mouse in the garage that we reported a few days ago. Mice are vermin and disease carriers, but I hate to see a dead animal of any kind.

And a belated good morning to all. Slept in until nearly 8am today so slow getting started and was easily distracted by a couple You Tubes, so getting to the discussion a bit late. Weather is a bit cooler, 80F heading to 86F, so soccer practice will occur and I need to plan for that. Still need to drop dry cleaning off and probably do a little gym time, so those are both on the schedule. Outside of that not much is planned.

And got some catching up to do, so going to scroll mode…

BBBoo, welcome home. I usually set the AC to about 81F when I travel in the summer, getting it down from 85F is a bit hard, I would think. Enjoy the grands!

boo fae, I really need to make a list of Things to be Done, I’m great when I have a list in front of me, not so much when I rely on my memory and ambition at the moment… Hope the meeting comes to a satisfactory (for you if not Problem Child) conclusion.

Nut, it is wise not to tempt fate, especially with laundry…

{{red}}, take care and keep on recuperating.

Sticky Buns, Nice on the new car, I have a Hyundai (Palisade) and am very happy with it. Appendages crossed that the new students are nice.

swampy, happy laundry day, my baskets are pretty empty now but they’ll fill back up soon enough.

Trust but verify…

FCM, yeah, the way computer systems are connected now, one click and suddenly your bombarded–I wonder just how much privacy we have anymore…Hope the kiln gets back to working status soon and Roxy can finish her masterpiece… Hope truck is OK.

Flyboy, Knots, I have never owned a gun (neither did my parents) and only shot a few at a store in Las Vegas that let’s you use a variety of weapons (fired a Tommy Gun and a M1 IIRC). As for guns and the USA, I’ll leave that for the politics section and not the MMP.

Taters, I can remember several water parks/amusement parks that no longer exist, hope you get warehouses and not AI computer places. Hope you have better luck at finding the cabinet you want–have you tried the internet (and yes, I know, what happened to FCM above could be your fate).

rocky, your right, 25 years ago I was working in Abu Dhabi, turned on the TV and…it doesn’t seem like it was a third of my entire life ago…

Mollie, hope the College Fair goes well. And I used to weigh close to 300lbs 4+ years ago before dropping chips and cookies from the shopping list and getting my big butt to the gym.

And that’s all for now. In making a list, I will now change the HVAC house filter and open and dispose of the box for the floor ‘power mop’ I bought Friday and I will get the slacks to the dry cleaner. There, it is written therefore it will be done…in a bit…

Take care all.

It was a light day, and I thought I might get out early. The J didn’t come in, and it took TPTB till 0515 to notice. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:. So I was dealing with the slide being 100% full, 3 carts of stuff to go on the belt, and another cart of the left behind stuff from Saturday. So they had MSG help me. And it dragged on, because even after we cleared the Slide, they kept bringing stuff to re scan. There weren’t too many damages, but there were 3 irregs to rewrap. It was the Monday-est of Tuesdays. got out at 1030. I filled up Carmen and did my Aldi run. Now I’m having dry, flavorless bits in milk while the Good Ice Machine runs.

Congrats in the new car!

I like the Utz ridged BBQ, but otherwise I just buy Harris Teeter or Aldi(Clancy’s).

We’ve decided on the kennel for Otis. Really nice facility that just happens to be on our way out of town, and they open at 8, so we can drop him off that morning. We got a tour, and apart from the noise of a gazillion barking dogs, it was impressive. No odors of pee or poo inside, the outside areas were very clean, and they clean every kennel every day. So I’m about to do an online reservation. Then I’ll email AuntB and let her know the plan. We’ll have 3 full days in Indy or thereabouts. If the weather permits, we’ll drive to West Lafayette. And she promised us a trip to Costco!!! WOOHOO!!!

OK, off to reserve…

{{{red}}} Glad you’re back out of the hospital.

Definitely the smart one. When I went away to college, I got a P.O. Box there, which I was supposed to keep for all 4 years. So my parents bought me very nice return address labels, back in the days of the Current catalog. And my senior year? Yes, the college changed all the P.O. Boxes, and did not keep the same numbers. So my nice return address labels were no longer useful. Bah.

Sitting on the patio watching the clouds building up and listening to the far-off thunder. So far all the storm cells have gone south of us, but we’re supposed to get one around 10pm. Got my fall purse out of the wardrobe - it has space to carry an umbrella, which my other purse does not. Might even have to consider wearing some sort of jacket tomorrow. Probably just my trench coat - it’s not lined, so it’s light enough.

Guys, I need help!

The painter is coming tomorrow, do I want the crown moulding to be white or the trim color? I’ll be back to chat in a bit.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it stays until it gets dirty again. We did have some quality cee-mint pond time. It’s been less hyooomid with slightly cooler temps so it was nice. Other than that the usual RDOS to include nappage and day drinkin’ happened. The ham steaks got grilled and the beans nuked and rolls baked. Sup was good and the leftover beans and N.O.T. sallit is now all gone.

JtC I recommend white. You will like the contrast. Then again, I really like my crown mouldin’ and want it to stand out.

White

Yep, that was an unpleasant tactical error on my part. Not going to do that again unless I’m going to be gone at least a week rather than just 4 days.

Welp, Mr. Tater’s sick and he looks awful. It’s been a day of vomiting and cold sweats. He’s finally upright, but it’s a battle to get him to drink anything.

I tried to get him to eat some crackers and a little soup, but he didn’t eat much of that, and I think he threw it all up anyway.

Usually, he can sleep for a few hours and be over the worst of it, but that is not the case today.

I did run out and take care of my errands: the post office, UPS, and then I had to go to the auto parts store to get a key fob battery and bulbs for my left rear blinker. I wasn’t planning to get a battery for the fob, but when I turned on the Jeep today, it said the fob battery was low.

After the auto parts store, I stopped at Safeway to get Sprite and a few other odds and ends, then came home. Other than finishing watering the plants, I haven’t done anything but check on Mr. Taters and try to get him to drink something.

Frankly, he’s been getting sick a lot more often lately. It was rare when he got sick in the past, so I dunno; something to watch I guess.
