Looking ahead in the MMP

  1. White.

  2. So sorry Mr. Taters is ill.

I spend a couple-few hours on the phone in order to hear the magic sentence, “Yes, if you pay out of pocket, you will be reimbursed.” So thence on a round of errands in a fuel-preserving loop, with the mid-circle stop being Fred Meyer. COVID vax without insurance costs $300! So much for Making America Healthy. I’ve already put the reimbursement request in the mail. The vax itself is so far no big deal, nominally sore arm is all. I’ll let you know tomorrow. The flu vax arm is the same a day after.

One more errand, then leftover meatloaf and potatoes for dinner.

ETA: I, too, stopped at an auto parts store. I want to try a more secure dash-mounted arm for my phone. “It might get in the way of your touchscreen,” the clerk warns. But I drive a 19-ish year old vehicle, so nah.

I was wondering about him today. If he has what I had, even water is enough to send him running to the toilet, I was turning it down too.

I hope he feels better tomorrow, my ick was over fairly quickly.

Thanks and thank you BBBoo. I wasn’t expecting to be needing to make a Lowe’s order tonight and had decision making issues over the moulding.

I’m going to be so much happier with the fresh paint, it will brighten this room up so much. If I like the results in here, I’ll have him quote the rest of the house but this is the only room I’ve picked out paint for.

I’ve taken down all of the wall art and have my bowls packed away again. Tomorrow morning I’ll pull the cat furniture out, it would be far too much for the fuzzbutts if I did it tonight.

That’s always been one of my favorite things to do.

Oops, hubs is ordering paint. This is turning into a process, back later again!

taters I had that a couple of weeks ago. It was horrible. I think I puked so hard my eyeballs got misshapen and I was seeing weird glowing purple snowflakes in front of my eyes. It took almost a month before I started feeling kinda normal. Lost 6 lbs in 2 days, what with the no eating and stuff coming out. The bad part lasted about 72 hours.

JtC Crown molding white, assuming that is the ceiling color. Maybe an eggshell gloss, just so it’s easier to clean than flat…What’s the trim color? Might change my opinion. If’n it’s bold might not be a bad idea, if’n it’s some sort of taupe, go with white.

I like Ruffles (with ridges) sour cream and cheddar. Or Lay’s salt and vinegar.

Had a surprise visit to the shop today by a class from the university, they are trying to teach them about “prototypes”, fortunately I happened to have one sitting on my work bench. Outdoor mini golf course needs a new gimmick. Newton’s cradle…golf balls don’t work, too much squishy, also, need a bigger down ramp to get to the hole 5", maybe. So working with 1-1/2" ball bearings to make a big cradle. Unsure about safety issues…smashy fingers, etc. I also have a junction box on my bench for an outdoor exhibit, tomorrow I get to crawl under the deck to install it. That gets a big huzzah. At least it isn’t plumbing. Electrons-you let the smoke out, you screwed up, plumbing-there’s always a friggin leak somewhere.

Peach

I think that white is the best answer.

Speaking of Peaches, dang on her going for another unaccompanied walkie. I’m so happy those guys helped get her off the busy road.

I have had my CCL for over twenty years, most of them in states with open carry laws. I don’t carry, but there are guns in my home and the yearly gun safety class certainly won’t hurt.

How wonderful! May you have many happy driving years with it.

Well dang. I’m glad you got sprung.

Welcome home, I hope you aren’t too exhausted. I’m sore your kittah will forgive you, she will want her cheeks scritched.

I have! The Hawaiian University had a whole display about them with plants and pictures and everything. They had about a dozen different plants they were working with because even back in the 80’s, they knew that our beloved Cavendishes weren’t going to be around forever. The big thing I got from it was that while they might be able to develop something close to the same, they will never be exactly the same…and it won’t matter because everyone who remembered what they tasted like will be dead.

I did another dive into 'nanners when I was learning about American chestnuts, interesting stuff!

I like the way you folks do it so much better!

So besides the painter, not much has been happening here. I’m able to stitch in short stretches so that makes me happy. I wanted to get some more plants in, probably Rhododendrons this fall, but I don’t think I’ll be diggin holes this year. Maybe I’ll ask Harry if one of his grandkids wants to make a few bucks, that’s the only way it will happen.

Evening all. So I actually did the things on my list and got to the gym as a bonus, so not a bad day at all. Had my Mac-n-Cheese bowl as usual on 2sday, so belly is happy (and the scale said 204.8, so about 1.6lbs lower this week, so yay!). Soccer was coached, did kids did pretty well and I passed out schedules for the rest of the season so that was also a ‘do list’ thing completed. Nothing else for the evening except rest and eventual return to Slumberland in a couple hours.

When I do get chips (usually at Jersey Mike’s with my sammich on Moanday), it’s either Basic Lays or Miss Vickies Kettle chips. But only in one small bag.

FCM, glad you found a good place for Otis and the trip sounds like a nice getaway.

Dicey, you can send any excess rain up this way; we had clouds today, some dark, but no rain.

Taters, hope Mr. Taters gets too feeling better soon. It’s been quite some time since I was that sick, but it’s no fun at all. Maybe a Dr. appointment for a checkup once he recovers this time (and a quiet word in the Doc’s ear perhaps?).

Lily, hope the refund is prompt (HA! I made a funny).

VanGo, you do have a interesting job, that’s for sure. Hope all goes well.

And that’s all the N. Ali-bama reporting for the day, take care and I’ll see what’s up come Hump Day.

Up from naptime(Spot napped with me, sans pre nap trampling). I had a Manhattan, and dinner is Redneck Stirfry.

Every machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough.

[Butthead]You’re old.[/Butthead]

Mine has a removable liner, so it’s good for all seasons.

{{{{Mr. Taters}}}}

Started this one day last week but life got in the way and I never got back to last week’s mmp.

But it’s not a lot of fun hugging the porcelein throne afterwards.

saw Frampton at a big ole college bar in 1974; quite the night.

Bella and I walked down to the office on Labor Day and I worked for 1.75 hrs to get 9/1 and 9/2 recorded. IT had taken down the financial software so I wasn’t able to work most of last week and I didn’t want to have to work a full day today, which I couldn’t because of Hubs Dr appt. Bella was a very good girl. Each time I went out of my office to walk to the copier/printer, Bella waited patiently since when I came back, I would give her a salmon mini treat. She received pets from several of the guys who were in so she was a happy contented girl.

Insomnia?

Looking ahead: daughter and girlfriend are going camping this coming weekend so we’ll have Bella Sat-Mon. I just had Bella Friday evening through yesterday evening as daughter went to Chicago for a wedding and Hubs went up north to visit with one of his buds.
We have spent Thanksgiving the last about 15ish years whereever daughter has been domiciled (Fargo, Chicago, Metro Detroit) except for 2020. She asked if it would be ok to celebrate on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, this year because she and girlfriend would like to fly to Texas on Thanksgiving morning to celebrate with girlfriend’s family. I said that would be fine as it wouldn’t be very nice to monopolize all the holidays.

I try to avoid all retail establishments except for Kroger through the entire year.

Did you offer a premium treat? As a parent I understand that bribery is not a great method; however, perhaps different with a pet.

Illinois? at least in Chicagoland and perhaps other parts

Thanks, I’m going to adopt this.

lily Have a great enjoyable time on your trip.

sounds like something that was on my salad from Panera last Friday

Bella wants to know what’s wrong with that, and also why the cat box was moved downstairs with the door to the basement latched so it’s only open an inch or so (so only the cat can get through).

better a warehouse than an AI Data Center or a detainment facility

The exciting news is Hubs had his final childhood vaccination today, MMR, so now he’s all vaccinated up. He only needs to return for annual check-ups now at the Stem Cell Clinic, although the Dr said he needs to stay on the anti-virus medication at least through December to forestall shingles.

Really good news.

Got a blood test back. My cholesterol is 209 mg/dL. But my triglycerides are 73 mg/dL (normal range 0 to 149 mg/dL) and my HDL (‘good cholesterol’) is 109 mg/dL (normal range 40 to 59 mg/dL). So yeah, my total cholesterol is higher than the 200 mg/dL upper limit; but a lot of it is ‘good cholesterol’. The phlebotomist took two vials of blood, and some urine. Everything is within normal parameters. I guessing I won’t die tomorrow.

Concur.

One must make sacrifices to the porcelain goddess, to achieve salvation.

It’s great on anything, if you like a bit of zazzy. It’s not spicy. Just … ZAZZY.

ETA my Sweet Manager tried a bit. She has ZERO tolerance for Dah Spiceh ™ and was slightly unhappy.

So if you like Dah Spiceh it’s mild. If you don’t like Dah Spiceh at all, save it for the rest of us.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

I’ll give it a shot.

Good.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and isolated showers. Weather app says “Mother Nature is pissing all over your fucking parade.”

Nut We used to have several very good Indian places here but they have closed or changed hands and now aren’t so good. The one we get lunch from used to have permanent premises but got pushed out by high rents and the 18 months it took for pedestrianisation work to be completed on the street where they were based. Now they operate a little tin can and seem to do very well out of it.

Sticky_Buns Congrats on the new car and all the good stuff that seems to be happening for you!

Taters It’s very frustrating when you can’t find exactly what you want, and then someone is putting you under pressure to bring back food too. I hope you are able to get what you want elsewhere. Also, hope Mr Taters is feeling better soon.

Moooom Glad to hear you’ve found a good place for Otis while you’re away. We are meeting a new catsitter on Friday, she’s going to be looking after the mogs next week while we’re away so of course, I had to remember to get some extra keys cut for her.

JtC I would go with white for the contrast.

Yesterday was very busy but productive and I’m all set for the two exam board meetings today. Not so sure about the 2hr workshop in between, but we’ll see how that goes. It’ll be a chance for TM to air her grievances about the new admin structure, and I’m sure she’ll have quite a few - although I am not sure if she’ll actually voice them in the meeting or wait until I have a 1-1 with her…

After irk, I went downstairs to the kitchen and made campus food for the rest of the week, went back upstairs to get changed, fed the cats and headed to the gym. After some considerable effort, I came home again and flopped on the sofa for half an hour while 'im indoors provided dinner.

I was in the office pretty much on time today, and will be in and out all day due to aforementioned meetings and whatnot. Dinner tonight is sausages and mash, followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard. This is because 'im indoors had a craving for custard late one night, and there is half a carton left in the fridge that needs to be used. And I happen to have a couple of single-portion puddings in the cupboard.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin and mostly clear with a predicted high of 90, becomin’ partly cloudy later this mornin’ and cloudy in the afternoon. We shall get shorn and then procure provisions this mornin’. OYKW said last night that he has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for Waffle House, so after we stow provisions we wil go there for lunch. That will take care of today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day will be the usual RDOS sloth.

Taters hope Mr. Taters is feelin’ better soonest. As we age, we don’t bounce back quite like we used to do.

Lily glad you were finally able to get stabbed. Hope the reimbursement shows up soonest.

Dicey we like to sit out on the back porch and watch a storm build up. Well, that and sip adult libations.

VanGo you do have a very weird job, but it sounds like fun most of the time.

Sticky_Buns conga rats on the new ride!

red glad you got sprung from the horsepistol. Are you back home yet?

MetalMouse you get a :star: for gettin’ all the things done.

Cat_Glove looks like Bella had a great day at the office! That sounds like a good plan for Turkey Day. Great news about Hubs!

FlyBoy conga rats on the great numbers!

BooFae hope the meetin’s and workshop are not too irksome. Your sup sounds good to me!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Um, maybe… FCD’s aunt is a sweet lady, but what a talker!!! And because of his uncle’s Parkinson’s (very much advanced) we’ll be pretty much confined to their house unless the two of us go somewhere. Which seems pretty cheesy when we are making the trip to visit his aunt and uncle. Then there are the 2 full days of driving - 10+ hours one way, not including stops. I’m truly not resentful, but it’s not my idea of a nice getaway. That will happen in January.

Oh, and doggio - my Costco cheer was definitely sarcasm. AuntB is obsessed with the place. I have only the slightest bit of curiosity, having been to Sam’s and BJ’s, plus I’m not really a shopper.

As long as some space junk doesn’t fall on you… keep a happy thought!!

Got an email from my sister - BIL is back home. He’s still got to use the feeding tube for a bit, at least till he goes back next week to see the surgeon for a follow up. So that’ll make life easier on both of them.

I made an appt to be shot at CVS today. We’ll be getting Covid and flu shots. They’ve been pushing HepB shots, but I talked to my doc, and she said it wasn’t necessary.

A loverly 60 Ferrets this morning, but we’ll creep way too close to 90 to suit me. But with luck, today and tomorrow will be the last of the heat - next week they’re promising highs in the 70s!! I’m not sure what I’ll do after CVS - maybe clean up what’s left of my 'mater plants. They’re looking bedraggled and I may just let the last couple of 'maters ripen on the window sill.

For now, onward to read. Happy Wednesday!

We ended up getting black. We wanted a higher trim model that was either blue or silver, but the price was a bit too high and it would have taken a week or so to get one since they didn’t have it in stock. So, we got the one that we test drove and are very happy with it.

Yep, I agree on white. And thanks for your wishes on our new car.

I hope he’s feeling much better today!

I’ve just eaten breakfast and I’m getting ready for my long day with students. I have to drive an hour to get to the library where I’m meeting them. And I’ll have three students in a row. I’ll have to do at least a bit of rearranging eventually because I haven’t scheduled even one break in between. Also, I’m a bit freaked out right now because I don’t have enough time allocated in the room that I reserved for the last student of the day. I have a solution today which includes a fry word scavenger hunt to conclude the day so we will travel throughout the library and not be tied to the room. I am going in very early today to see what I can do to adjust for my errors with the help of the library. But to be honest, I’m a bit freaked out about the last student because of the call that I received from their parent last night. Mostly because I think that she thinks that I’m unprepared. I shall do my best.

Thus, my Wednesday is planned and shall move forward. Happy day to everyone!

Oh, almost forgot, the bright side is that I get to stop at one of my favorite fast food joints to grab dinner for me and my mom on the way back home! I don’t know, but I’d suspect that MetalMouse has been to or at least heard of Hamburger Station!

  1. Make a list.
  2. Don’t die today.
  3. Don’t die tomorrow.
  4. Cross off (1.) You did that.
  5. Repeat.

It has worked so far.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s mostly clear and 50F right now. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, with a high of 80F today.

Sticky Buns, congrats on the new ride. I love getting a new car. Everything feels tight and smooth, and it smells good, too.

BooFae, I hope the day goes smoothly and that TM is not too troublesome.

Since I couldn’t find what I wanted in a brick-and-mortar store, I ordered a file cabinet that matches my desk. Yes, I’ll have to put it together, but it can’t be helped.

Mr. Taters went back to bed not long after he came downstairs. He vomited several more times throughout the evening and night. I stayed downstairs with the pups. After the pups ate breakfast this morning, I opened the gate so they could cuddle with Mr. Taters, but he called out and asked me to call the pups back downstairs, so he must still feel bad. I’m going to check on him in an hour or so. His voice definitely sounded stronger, but I’m sure even if he feels better, he’s still completely wrung out.

I had the HOA meeting last online. We discussed the financials and found out we need insurance for the HOA and the board members. This is a requirement, so I don’t know how we went for 23 years without it. Anyway, they are going to obtain numerous quotes, and we’ll take it from there. No one wants dues raised, and they are doing their best to make sure that doesn’t happen. We need fence repairs around the retention ponds, and of course, street parking, and enforcement came up. We’ll see what happens there. The new president, who seems like an awfully nice young lady, has been verbally abused by one of the people who lives on the street, but she’s sold her house and will be gone soon. That lady was upset about the parking issues here and has sent multiple emails daily to both the president and the treasurer (we don’t have a secretary). I mean, good lord, that’s just ridiculous. As frustrating as the parking issue is, no one can expect the board members to control the behavior of people who refuse to follow the rules.

As far as enforcement goes, that can only happen with towing, and lets face it, that’s costly. We’re a small HOA, so unless the cost falls solely on the car owner, that won’t happen.

Anyway, all silly BS, that will never be resolved, but I applaud the board members for wanting to do it.

I am guessing today will be a stay-at-home day, despite the nice weather. This morning would be perfect for a walk, but since the dogs need to stay downstairs, I can’t leave the house, or they’ll whine at the gate, and Mr. Taters won’t get any rest. The dogs have atrocious leash manners, or I’d take them out with me.

I need some more coffee, and then I’ll set about doing…something. Not sure what.

Please take care of yourselves.

Sleepage took precedence today and except for a 5am micturation I was abed until 8:15am, so morning activities are limited. In fact nothing much is on the weekly schedule at all for today, so I may make it a swampy-level day of sloth. Only getting to 92F (it’s 80F now), so hopefully will cool down some (but according to the weather wizards, they are showing a high of 90-92F through September 18th at least).

Cat Glove, Bella is a smart girl (also a hungry one). And nice of you to adapt your Thanksgiving plans, it is something I think most Mumpers would do in those circumstances but a lot of folks would not. And good for Hubs, I need to schedule my end of year shots too (need to put it on a list..)

I thought the same thing.

Yep. Wal-Mart now and then, Staples about once a quarter, and the rest on a ‘when absolutely necessary’ basis.

Flyboy, ain’t it marvelous that we can see the test results so fast and on-line these days?

boo fae, by ‘tin can’ you mean a mobile or streetside place? Just checking. Trust meeting day was not a total waste.

swampy, happy shearing!

FCM, I feel for you, visiting my brother and SIL with their grown kids is much like that, sitting around the house but instead of talking watching movie after movie (something I’m not in the habit of doing). I try to get at least one day out on my own. Glad BIL survived the surgery, hope he changes some of his habits you’ve mentioned to stick around a bit longer.

Sticky Buns, hope the teaching goes well. And I am aware of Hamburger Station, wanted to stop at the place that was near my old home town but it’s closed now. First developed my taste for ‘sliders’ there.

Taters, hope Mr. T is doing better, that sounds like a nasty bug. And sorry to hear the HOA folks who are actually working for the people are taking such abuse and hope you avoid it. Hope the parking issue can be dealt with.

And it’s time to do the rest of the morning internettin’ and then get some food into my belly for whatever the afternoon brings. Take care and have a good (check calendar) Hump Day all.

Ursala Kitteh goes to the vee eee tee this morning for her mani pedi and arthuritis shot. Later I will go to the grocery store. Then sloth. Rode Ariel for 9 minutes yesterday. Her maximum allowed time under saddle is 10 minutes. Today is raining so sloth sounds good.

I love almost every potato chip and therefore they are not allowed in the house.
