I havenn’t really had to search through accumulated pix on my computer for a while, last time was probably 5 or 6 years back.
Back then, I just double clicked an image, and then I could click on teh right or left side of the image to advance or go back in images, now I have the option of opening in paint, edge, chrome or firefox, but none of them have this way of flipping through images. What can I use to flip through images like that, I can’t get enough in the largest size image inherant in the current open file folder.
Any suggestions? I would hate to have to oepn every single image individually …
Try clicking the Start button and typing photos - it might already be installed (and just not associated with a right click action or something)
If not, yeah, the Microsoft Photos app will do what you want (I’d link to it, but it would be the GB version of the store - it’s easy to find)
It will not import the memes I have downloaded, just wants to open up stuff from my phone camera I have stored. Any suggestions? It will not offer photos as an option when I click on the saved meme images [collected off face book and other web pages.]
Also, right-click, open with, choose another app, then choose Windows Photo Viewer, and click the button to always open the type of file (e.g., jpg) with that app.
If images are properly organized, you could put them in a CBZ “container” as well. (So named because it’s a great way to store and read comic books, but you could put a photo gallery in one too.)
If it’s an older PC, it may have windows Photo Viewer instead of or as well as Photos. IIRC Photos came along with Windows 10 and the upgrade to 10 also hid Photo Viewer
I just tried this on my Win-10 machine. In Win Explorer, I navigated to the directory that had my photos (It was c:\pix, so easy to find) and the screen filled with thumbnails of the pictures (they were all ,jpg files). I clicked on one of them and it opened. There was no immediately obvious way to scroll through them until I happened to put the cursor on the right side, and then a right arrow appeared and when I clicked on that the next picture appeared. Rinse and repeat.
I just checked and if you do it on the left side, you can go back. Also the words next and previous appear above the arrow.
this app works perfectly thanks =) None of the other suggestions worked, no idea why but I am very miffed with windows, but many mmorpgs don’t work properly with linux uness one is talented in making it do what one wants, and i refuse to go apple =)
I loved Microsoft Picture Manager, but they discontinued it after Office 2010. Paint, and 3D Paint are too “busy” for me, offering a plethora of tools, none of which interest me in the slightest. Even though I use Office 365 now, I still have my Office 2010 CD, so I installed just Picture Manager and made it my default program for pictures. It is simple, straightforward, and has the tools I use without the clutter of a lot of crap I don’t want.
If you don’t have an old version of Office, perhaps a friend does?
One of the nice things about IrfanView as a photo viewer is that you can open an image file and then use the scroll button to advance (or go backwards) to the next image file in the folder. This is great if you want to pick between a set of photos…one scroll click and you have the next photo.
At my work (I do IT support) I have people who insist on using Microsoft Picture Manager. I use the SharePoint Designer 2010 trick to get it for them. It still works even though it’s really old.
