Looking for a fun song in French...

Ignore the dopey video it’s used in here, but Etre Une Femme is a great track from Michel Sardou. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM4a1vNlF8c

Les Sucettes as sung by France Gall

What could be more fun and upbeat than Jordy, the singing French baby?

Stereolab has French songs. I don’t remember enough of my high school French (and I probably never knew enough) to know what they’re saying, but there are some fun pop songs in French. Check Lo Boob Oscilator – I don’t think that one is about Marxism.

Edith Piaf doing “La vie en rose” is a classic.

“Poupee de cire, poupee de son” – bonus points for the Arcade Fire version.

Alain Bashung’s Gaby Oh Gaby, Renaud’s Laisse beton, Marche a l’ombre, Dans mon HLM or Mon beauf, Plume Latraverse’s Calvaire, Raymond Levesque’s Quand les hommes vivront d’amour, Claude Gauthier’s Le grand six pieds. I guess that should do for a start.

Joe Dassin, Champs Elysees

Wow, thanks guys! What doesn’t fit into the video will definitely making it onto my iPod. You all rock!

I was told, I don’t speak French so I don’t know, that Ca Plane Pou Moi gets fairly raunchy in some of the lyrics.
As for a suggestion, you can’t get happier or Frenchier than that singing Nun song.

Great suggestions. Can I add something peppy by Paris Combo.

“Moi, Mon Ame et Ma Conscience”

That’s gorgeous, and I love the clip.

C’est si bon?

The stereotypical “French Song” in my mind is “Sacre Charlemagne” by France Gall. Very light and upbeat.

Two a few more famous tracks by Jacques Dutronc:
Et moi, et moi, et moi
Les cactus
J’aime les filles

This is a track from an animated Astérix movie, but it’s hugely fun and popular enough have been covered by “adult” bands: Le pudding à l’arsenic
