Anyone know of any good free web page hosts? One that doesn’t continuously bomb you with email newsletters once you join, has about 5-10 megs worth of space, and is relatively permenant?
My internet provider supplies a page area, but I want to have it so it is still there if I change providers, see…
SO if anyone can point me in the right direction, hey, I’d appreciate it, and the world will thank you later.
I’ve had pretty good luck with both Tripod and Angelfire. Tripod has more user friendly URLs though.

I used to use http://www.quakeclan.net before they were taken down. It was awesome… 10 megs, FTP access and pop3 mail accounts. Just the fact that it was accessed by FTP made it very easy. I miss them tremendously. Now, you have to go to http://www.clanpages.com . I believe they havwe a similar setup runnning down there… good luck

It generates pages using Javascript. It makes it difficult to control layouts precisely but it’s like using Powerpoint. To keep page name simple, make the base or home page index.html. Also, if you want a particular name (e.g. “yourname”), set the website up under ‘your name’ and homestead will come back with the following home page:
http://www.yourname.homestead.com
I run a couple of community websites this way that don’t require serious format control. For everything else, I write the HTML and get a real domain name.
