Hi roo, bounce bounce bounce Ima try to be here more frequently.
rebo one of my favorite cakes combined with one of my favorite pies? It sounds sinful, and is now on my holiday menu, thanks! Oh, and a good pumpkin pie is divine, but a bad pumpkin pie is revolting. I had a piece of bad pie once, back in the day my then boyfriend’s father baked one from scratch, literally, beginning with a pumpkin from the grocery at Halloween. We here are all edumakated enough to know that the pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns are not particularly suited for pies, for pie one would want a sugar type pumpkin, right? (Or a can of Libby’s, but only the pure pumpkin, the pie filling in a can pumpkin is yukky.) Well, the pie filling was kind of greyish, and very stringy, the crust had the consistency of cement, and I toyed with it until I could gather some dishes and took it all into the kitchen where I buried my pie in the trash. What a bad memory, pie should always be a good thing.
S’mores can be a good thing, Crisco has it’s place, but Miracle Whip is beyond gross. Given, I wouldn’t eat mayonnaise until I was in my teens, but always Best Foods/Hellman’s. Anytime my mom or gramma tried to sneak a sandwich with Miracle Whip on it past me it never made it past my nose! shudder We are all allowed a couple of guilty pleasures though, I happen to be fond of dipping green olives in the Cool Whip at holidays. Now how many shuddered at that thought?
Nelly looks very comfortable in her hamper doggio. Mine like their crates, pillows, and blankies, it was just a thought. How is she getting on with Lucretia, or is the better question how well is Lucretia tolerating her? She is a pretty girl, to be sure!
Comparing snowfall and temps would be kinda fun snowbunny, I get to accumulate the total snowfall here though, right? Ours comes and goes, you will just keep accumulating all winter. I like your kind of winter better than ours on The Rock, and boy do I miss home and the good old Cascade Concrete! I just saw the forecast on tv, and the temps are moving down to high 30’s during the day and the low 20’s at night. Time to pile a few more pommies on my bed!
Hey herbs! I am loving the cable internet, who knew it could go this fast?!! Now I just have to withstand the pressure from family and friends to join the World of War[del]crack[/del]craft.
Hi gt!!! I thought about you today while looking out the window at my garden, realizing that the white poppy that grew this year with all of the salmon and red poppies is not going to get enough sun and warmth to bloom and scatter seeds. The flower buds look lonely and sad out in the wind and sleet, but the foxglove that bloomed last year threw so many seeds they have shown up everywhere, and they will bloom next year, and while I was cleaning up the bulb beds I found crocus bulbs which didn’t bloom this year, but they clearly survived and grew over the summer. I remember once upon a time I spent almost two months (December and January) in Mentor-On-The-Lake, and my then sister-in-law and I took a long walk on a silent snowy day ending up in the midst of a huge rose field, and when I look up and see that you are from Ohio I remember that moment with such clarity. Oh, and I have meant to say for a long time that I envy your meals. When the last of the kids has moved out and skiffman is out fishing I am going to eat like that. My family would be appalled if I tried to serve them each a sweet potato for dinner, it would be to laugh!
This is too long already, and I have a lot of catching up to do, so I will end my post with this bit of news: tonight I will sleep in a brand new bed! My old bed was pretty saggy, and now the new bed is so tall and fluffy, I can’t wait to go to bed! G’night everyone, except for those for whom this is morning already, or soon will be, you get a good morning!
