If your snow comes and goes, kai, it wouldn’t be fair unless you could count the overall total, because you’re right, it falls and stays here. I don’t know if we got any last night yet, there was at least a small chance, and there’s supposed to be a really high chance of less than an inch later today and tonight, but there’s not a cloud in sight on the radar right now so I’m thinking they might be wrong, unless that mess over Washington state moves west pretty fast. I’m not going to count any until it actually stays around for a bit, I don’t think, which will be…what, maybe a couple of weeks or so?
Brrrrrr. It’s going to be a chilly day. Right now it’s 20F, and it’s supposed to get up to 41F, I think. Brrrrr. Time to break out the long-sleeved warmer shirts as well as the sweatshirts, I guess! At least picking up frozen dog poo is far preferable to picking it up in warm weather. I’ve started prefacing my comments at work about the weather with, “You’re going to think I’m crazy, but (for example) I liked finding we’d gotten that bit of snow last night.” And I’m right, they do think I’m crazy!
Yay for Thursday! It’s poke chop night and curl up for Earl and Office. Pushing Daisies was really good last night. I end up with such a big smile on my face when it’s over.
No decent Fall weather here yet. 90s or close to it all week. I want me some mid 80s, dammit!!
Three days in a row off! Too bad I’m still sort of sick. It’s time for a leisurely cup of tea and then tackling random housework. Yesterday was a wash as far as ambition and usefulness goes.
Morning, all. Vertical and caffeinating. Must find pronouns.
Ah, there they are. I’m glad I’m not the only one who adores Pushing Daisies. The premise is so strange, and characters are so – well, character-ish. But it does leave one with a big smile on one’s face, doesn’t it? Silly show.
Tell VWife not to worry, Bobbio; they are insanely careful about knee replacements and infections. She’ll be fine. Besides, most of the recent MRSA infections have been in schools. In fact, one of Papa Tigs’ help desk people was late to work without notice the other morning – turns out she had been up till 1:30 the night before helping clean all her son’s football team’s equipment. They’ve been warning us for years about the over-use of antibiotics, and now it’s apparently here!
Aren’t I just a cheery soul this morning? Well, I’d better get back to work – no rest for the weary, alas. I’ve got a mountain of work to do today, so time to stop yakking and get to it.
Why do I watch morning shows on television? :smack: They only make me annoyed.
This morning I watched The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet and they had a segment on abstinence vs. comprehensive sex education. Of course, the choosing of guests to speak about each side was designed to make the comprehensive sex ed. people look stupid (and ‘slutty’ to some people) and the abstinence ed. people look intelligent and ‘respectable.’ Thing is, it kind of blew up in their faces (for me at least) when the abstinence ed. layperson-mother blamed premarital/extramarital sexual behavior and drugs for the entire homeless population. Just really, really ignorant on that part, and her daughter was too, but mostly on whether ‘from the streets’ info on STIs was valid.
It’s warm again in Central Florida; the high looks to be in the low 90s. Yeesh. Hope it’s at least pleasant for those outside of this state.
It’s not pleasant here either. Hot and humid. Where the heck is fall, dammit?! Mr Rebo let the dogs outside this morning around 5:30 and said, “It’s sweaty out there!”
I’m back at work and feeling better today. I had to attend a conference call with Norway and the UK. So now I have agreed to have some models finished so we can do it again on Tuesday! Yay! I’ll be a busy little beaver…
Glad y’all enjoyed the recipe. I’m looking forward to making it next week. My enchiladas came out great last night! I was very pleased. I’m thinking shrimp scampi and pasta prima vera tonight, it’s pretty easy.
Ok - better get to work.
ETA: Skeered of us?? :: pats seat next to me :: C’mere, and sit next to me. I don’t bite. Very hard.
Ow. Don’t throw things at me. Bobo, the only thing you need to be an MMPer is a fine ability to chatter aimlessly. For pages. It really does keep us all boxed up neatly and the rest of MPSIMS tidier.
With a Twinkie, that would be a typical post-apocalyptic balanced meal. I figure that I’m just getting prepared.
I’m assuming that you are talking about the Masonic Lodge? My grandfather was a Mason, but that didn’t prompt the title. At least not consciously. There was no esoteric meaning intended. I am on the East Coast, and usually look east when down at the ocean. And Borys’ reflections were of times and events east of us.
I know that there is some secrecy, but can you tell us what “acting appropriately” means? Or 17/23, for that matter?
Uh-unh. We’re buying a townhouse with a brand new interior (that they’ll install as soon as we sign on the dotted line). All exterior maintenance is taken care of by the HOA. And the interior… well, we’re not going to have enough $$ for a little while to do anything there even if it weren’t all brand new! So
Then again, we won’t have enough $$ to travel anywhere either so I guess it’s a moot point. We’ll still be at home for weekends and vacations! :smack:
I haven’t heard of Pushing Daisies. What’s it about? (We spend most of our tv viewing time on Discovery and the Food Network. Or Friends reruns.)
Last night we had a yummy chicken and broccoli thing with a soy-dijon sauce. If I get home at a reasonable hour tonight, it’s definitely a meatloaf night. But the chances of a reasonable hour are looking slimmer as the day goes on. Oh well. I like what I do, and I enjoy being the person who’s in charge of this stuff, the “expert” on this. So… late nights once in a while. That’s the way it goes.
loved the OP, haven’t been dropping by much what with OD’ing on WoSW and getting set up to leave town tomorrow. Been reading some, posting very little.
The people from the second-hand store were supposed to come pick my furniture this morning. They didn’t. I dropped by, reminded the only one who was there, he said he’d send the truck over.
6pm no truck.
Since the owners have two months to return me my deposit, they are going to have to be happily welcome to deduct something for getting someone to take my furniture out, but damn this sucks. I’m most certainly not going to stay longer just so I can get rid of a dozen pieces of furniture!
Won’t be able to read for a few days, I think. I’m glad to leave but wish the process had been smoother…
Hugs, kisses, get-betters, coos and aahs as appropiate.
It’s about a guy with the magic touch to bring back the dead…but much more complicated. Check out the ABC web site. It’s very Lemony Snickety to me…only brighter.
I forgot to say congrats to Taxi and KeithT on the purchase of their new home.
I like Pushing Daisies too. I didn’t get to watch it last night, though. My husband wanted me to play some WoW, so I did. We haven’t played for months and months, but now that icky weather is here, he wants to play again.
Tonight, I think I’m going to watch some TV. I just feel like utter crap today and don’t want to have to do anything.
I’m still very tired, I think I’m going to lie down.
I may be getting a job! One that has BENEFITS. Health Insurance!
bounce bounce bounce
A friend of mine works for a company that monitors alarm systems. They do most of their hiring through employee referals, so she got me an application. Unfortunately, at the time they were only hiring for 2nd shift. I would prefer third and can/will work first, but can’t work second due to hockey. (No, I’m not yet desperate enough to give up hockey) I got a call today that there may be a 3rd shift opening coming up, and am I still available?
bounce bounce bounce
I am SO available!
She asked a few questions, such as “Are you over 18?” Oh boy am I over 18. “Are you available to work weekends and holidays?” My last job I worked 18 months without a day off. My husband is a nurse. We have no kids. Weekends and holidays are not a problem"
“Would it be a problem for you to work over if someone is late?” As long as I get a day off now and then, I can work as needed.
Come on, ya’ll join me in a happy dance and get everything crossed!
