Looking to the East - An MMP

Appendages crossed, SCL!

There. The cleaning that should have been done Friday – we lowly employees blamed ourselves equally – is now done. It didn’t take long at all, but it had to get done before The Boss was back. And nobody tell her, dammit! We’re getting another bather, at least temporarily, so there will be another pair of hands to help around with the cleaning, but I can either clean or handle dogs. I just don’t have the energy to do both, or at least not to do both well enough for me to be happy. And The Boss is rather picky – rightfully so! – about cleaning. Our best washer/cleaner/brusher (seriously, the woman does everything, and does it well!) is unfortunately gone for now because she’s unexpectedly pregnant with twins. This is, sadly, not good news for her and her family. But I swear she walks into a room and walks out five minutes later and the room is sparkling. I don’t know how she does it, but I hope she feels better soon (killer morning sickness, apparently) and can come back to work for a little bit before she has the babies!

We are back from the aqaurim. We saw the fish and the fish saw us. #2 son was very excited–he loved it. I liked the sharks and the penguins best. He just loved everything.

Off for a bike ride, then dolce farn yente or however you spell it. Yay!

Christie’s is still there. At least I think it is; I forgot to look at the name, but there is still a restaurant/take out place at the Nahant Circle, and they still serve seafood. Although I tend to get my fried clams and scallops at Kelly’s. In addition to the original on Revere Beach, they opened a store on Rte 1 in Saugus. Not exactly the same atmosphere as the beach, but easy to get to. Almost as good as the Clam Box in Ipswich, and a lot closer to where I live (I’m in the Pine Hill area).

The city has been working on separating the combined system (when a sewer system can overflow into the storm drainage system, found in a lot of older cities), and the beach really isn’t like it was. There is still one drain up near Swampscott that can get a bit ripe in the summer, but that isn’t near where I am.

You guessed it, my bench is near Red Rock. There are two places where the land bumps into the ocean; the really big one at Red Rock and a much smaller one just south of there. My bench is at the smaller one.

To bring this full circle from last Sunday: I was there again today. October 21st, and it was bright and sunny, with temperature in the 70s. Borys drove up and we talked for awhile again. I told him I had ordered his book. I think I got a few dates wrong in the OP, but nothing dramatically incorrect. He’s got a great sense of humor. He asked me if I was married. I told him that my wife had died seven years ago. He looked at me for a minute, and then asked “So - are you fasting?”. I guess if you get to 91 you can get away with asking almost anything.

Well, thanks to you guys I have the MMP flu. At least that’s what I’m going to tell them at work. Tomorrow will be another day like today, and I just can’t see going into the office when my bench and my book will be waiting for me.

Howdy! I went to Mass, did laundry, and cleaned the bathroom. Then I took a nap. Sigh, my day off is over already.

SCL, good luck with the interview. Careful with the grope, you could get 2 minutes for holding the stick.

Lunch, I problably have all the MMP cooties by now, so I’m not worried.

Rosie, I wish we could get beer delivery around here.

Roo, ya better yet? :bounce: :bounce: :grope:

back from a quick dinner with freinds - my BC survivor friend and her husband - she is doing SO MUCH BETTER. Her hair is coming back in nicely (it’s still too short for her liking and ever so often she pulls on it to encourage it) the spark is back in her eyes, and she’s back at work. Now all she has to deal with is the inflatable saline balloons that stretch the skin in preperation for the reconstruction. And that, according to her, is maybe the worst of all the pains she’s had to deal with.
So, naturally, because of who we are and what we’ve each had to deal with (he’s had a handful of basile cell carcinomas removed - he’s fine, but his face looks like it’d been hit with a pizza cutter (not really, but he does have two just-in-time-for-Hallowe’en nifty scars on his nose)) and we came around to how much better her recovery/my PT would be if we just stopped acting all stoopit where food is concerned and he said “but… I like food” (in an innocent little boy voice) and I decided that was one of thhe best excuses not to diet - but it has to be said in that wide eyed, “who, me?” kind of way

I’ve napped, read the beginning of Annie Freeman’s Fabulous Traveling Funeral (finally finished Run this morning while waiting for my brother to get to mile 9 of the marathon), napped, and gone to Mass (where I wound up behind someone I knew I’d met through work and spent about 10 minutes pondering who the heck this guy was; fortunately it dawned on me so I didn’t spend the whole hour being distracted by the wondering).

Dunno why I’m being so parenthetical.

Sure is quiet here without FCM and Mama T.

Hank, I’ve always been the less neat and organized of the roommates, so I’ve spent my life (well, until I started living by myself) trying to live up to various roomies’ cleaning standards. My last roommate (AKA Local Best Friend) used to periodically declare that we would be cleaning now. I’d grumble silently and we’d spend a little while cleaning. Maybe something like that would work for the cleaning aspect of the Cloud Maiden dilemma. Not sure what to do about the kitty food and litter shortages…

Hope FCM had a safe trip. Glad to hear Mama T was having fun.

Jahdra - do you remember that you volunteered to start us off tomorrow (or, presumably, tonight)?

Off to read some more and then to do some work work…

Why is my weekend practically over???

GT

I’ve been knitting today, so I’m almost done with my scarf. I don’t know why it has taken so long to knit. It should have been a week long project, at most, but I’ve been at it for well over a month.

I just discovered PageAddict as a Firefox add-on. Good grief, I spend a *lot *of time online.

I’m working on tomorrow’s MMP. I’ll post it sometime between 9 - 10 pm PDT.

Weekend drive-by post: busy ambulance shift with many tales, and VWife goes bionic in the morning. Will post Tuesday… TTFN

I don’t want to know how much time I waste on line…

I’m wasting time right now. I am avoiding homework (again). This one isn’t due until Tuesday, but the guilts have got me. But then again, it’s after 9 pm. It’ll be my bedtime soon, so no homework tonight. Darn.
Good thoughts to** VundyWife!**

And to all who have Teh Sick (no one special and ?)

Bleurgh! It’s barely 6am and I am awake - have been for the last 45 minutes thanks to a little girl who is refreshed and ready to go after yesterday’s fever! Sigh

Need more caffeine before I can post anything sensible

Top of the mornin’ to ya,** Dotty**!

I’m off to bed now. :stuck_out_tongue:
(glad HRH is feeling better)
