This morning, I found an IGN announcement, linking to the following website : New game countdown. The URL reads CTDS…the DS part is obvious (system it was announced for). CT, combined with the clock, combined with the same damn ticking noise I remember…new Chrono! I’m not getting my hopes too up, since this could be another remake, but still, I’ve been waiting for one of these as long as I’ve been waiting for another Diablo (8 years!).
Oh crap. This is giving me more incentive to replace my stolen DS.
Has it really been 8 years since Diablo II came out? Wow!
Chrono Trigger is the best console RPG of all time, too bad I don’t own a DS. Although I was pretty excited about Chrono Cross before it came out, so maybe it won’t be a big deal that I don’t have a DS.
It’s…a remake! They talk about updating it for dual-screens and touch, but nothing about a graphics overhaul.
I can’t believe Square took so long to do this. It’s gonna be their best selling DS game ever. I really hope it inspires them to make a new Chrono game (I had a hard time getting into Chrono Cross, so I hope it’d be more like the original)
Final Fantasy 4DS (which is getting a full makeover) comes out later this month as well.
I have a feeling it will get the same treatment FF3 did. If it didn’t they’re not doing everything they can to one of the top games of all time (according to many top lists and myself[sup]1[/sup]). And daggummit they better do it right. (Actually, to be honest I’m not sure if re-mastering it would be better or worse)
Also, try not to figure out why doing the Floating Black Castle in the past doesn’t create a paradox and erase all traces of you doing it in the future. It made my head hurt, considering everything else seemed to be directly cause-effect.
[sup]1 Okay, so I have yet to play Terranigma and I’m too lazy to keep a giant block of paper near me while playing Mother 3, but as of NOW my opinion is that Chrono Trigger is top 2 or 3.[/sup]
Took long enough!
IIRC, dealing with it in the past does take it away in the future.
…but then, it’s been years and years since I’ve played, so.
Meh, another remake. Yeah, they’ll probably add more shiny bonus content, but still not worth running out to buy a DS.
Please tell me that they have no more than about 20 playable characters this time around. I enjoyed CC, but trying to get and level up all the characters was a pain. Not to mention getting their 7th level unique techs.
Lynn, it’s Trigger, not Cross
I’m actually looking forward to this now more. I just got my GF a DS, and I’ve been telling her I wanted her to play Chrono Trigger some day (She picked up Cross and wanted to try it but had never done a game like that before; I’ve been easing her in since)
I completely and heartily agree.
