Well, the only thing I can say is - you should have been a lot harder on yourself.
I myself was actually repairing a potential electrical fire hazard in my new home. Stupid electrons!
Really though, I think Zeldar put on quite a display of keeping track of the posts as best as He(?) could. Hats off to Zeldar!! How did you do that by the way? Keep hitting the REFRESH button every two seconds and then cut and paste the post into Word or what? - just curious.
He is correct, whuckfistle, and thanks for the “hats off” thing. Actually, my interest in the Post # 1,000,000 got started with this thread (The MPSIMS Mega-Post Pool) and some of the ideas that got brought up there.
I just used the Forums Home page to get the data, which I copied and pasted into a NotePad file and just kept adding to it at somewhat regular intervals as the D-Day and T-Time approached.
The going got hairy as we got very close, and the board’s response was very slow. Within the last 10 posts or so I had to log off and back on just to get into SDMB. I gathered from the way things were going that everybody was just refreshing and waiting.
It would be fun to know who all was participating consciously in that dash for 1,000,000. I kept seeing other threads getting replies, and had to assume that those posters weren’t really aware of the pending event.
Of course all the people who replied to this thread and the one in the link above were in on it, but not all of the real players posted to the threads.
BTW, does anybody know how to use the “postid#” to connect to thte thread/forum where the post went?
That couild help us build a log of the 999,990-1,000,002 group so everybody would know the nature of the race. Having the times expressed in the same time zone would help, too.
What’s the next big event to look forward to? Thread Total?
