Is there any reason why we’re spoiler boxing stuff that was in this episode?
It’s not like any of us are hoping to maintain suspense until we get an HD-capable set.

Nooo! “I got no place else to go!”
I thought you were replying to my post the first time I read it. Then I saw the time stamps. I think I still win the tie-breaker though. 'sides, you’ll have another, this might be my only one.
Did anyone else catch the Oceanic logo on the tail of the jet that flies over Locke as he arrives to deliver the money? I didn’t notice if the second jet that went over also had a notable logo. Screen caps anyone?
Whenever any show tries to incorporate poker now because it’s popular it makes me wince because they usually do it so horribly. No exception here.
We’re supposed to believe that Jack can read Sawyer like a book - so what hand do they use as an example of that? Top set vs second set. That’s a hand where both players are going to showdown 98% of the time regardless of any “reads” they have on the other guy, just by the very nature of it. It didn’t prove anything, other than Jack was lucky enough to hit a huge hand when Sawyer hit a slightly less huge hand. And jack was thinking to himself aloud: “do I call, or fold?” - well, generally, with the nuts (I forget the rest of the board, might not have been) you generally want to raise…
Then the big showdown hand at the end? Sawyer calls all in with a hand that can’t beat a pair of 9s. Jack’s reasoning for his motivation? “You’ve got people watching, you can’t let yourself lose” or something like that. Well, gee… he calls with a hand that can’t possibly win, losing everything, in order “not to lose” - yeah, makes sense.
I laughed and laughed. I thought this was the best one liner all night.
I want to point out that the balloon is all wrong for across the ocean flight. What was shown is a Hollywood-ized standard hot air balloon with an open wicker basket. Trans-oceanic balloons have sealed metal gons that double as boats should the balloon come down in the water.
I’m not sure if this is a shortcoming of the properties department, or a plot point.
Latin translations:
Aegrescit Mendo - This one I’m not sure about, it seems like a fragment. Aegrescit is “falls ill” and Mendo seems to be “to/toward defect” or it could be ablative which opens us up to all sorts of other stuff. I think it’s “Falls ill from the defect.” That’s a fairly loose translation, I won’t swear to it.
Sursum Corda - A religious phrase for the catholic church meaning “lift up your hearts”
Malum consilium quod mutari non potest - It’s a bad plan that can’t be changed. (attrib. Publilius Syrus)
Cogito ergo doleo - I think therefore I am depressed
Credo nos in fluctu eodem esse - “I think we’re on the same wavelength”
Ut sit magna, tamen certe lenta ira deorum est - “The wrath of the gods may be great, but it certainly is slow.”
hic sunt dracones - Here be dragons
Most of these were available via a quick google search, the first one is the only one I had to translate myself and as you can see I’m not sure on that translation.
Oooh Ooooh Oooh, I have a theory:
Pseudo Henry Gale = Desmond’s old partner that used to go exploring a lot!!! He gets captured, brought back home to find all these strange people in his “house”. He’s trying to figure out who they are. Although - how would he know the name Henry Gale? Hmmm.
OK well nevermind that - but I see the word “Evil” on the right hand side of the ? map about half way up. Hmmmmmm. Eeeeeeeeevvvvviiiiiiiillllllll…
The line is actually “Ut sit magna, tamen certe lenta ira deorum est” and I put it in the spoiler in my previous post
OK - or Evil could be CVIV… But whatever… do dee do… I’ll go back to just thinking crazy stuff to myself now…
For those of us who are going cross-eyed staring at the cap, is Arrow supposed to be the scribbled out hatch, or the one to the right of it?
The tailies bunker seemed to me to be more dissheveled than any other area we’ve seen so far, which would seem to fit with one that had been abandoned for longer than the rest, and it appeared to be a single room, as 3 (possibly 4) of the hatches are represented on the map.
So that’s what “props” is short for…
Another picture of the the wall with even more text
There are several interesting things on this wall. I highly endorse looking at it.
Further thoughts on review of this wall pic:
The line that jumps out at me is the “Activity minimal during lockdown and restocking procedures.” Which means the lockdown and the food drop were not coincidental. The radio transmission must have been from the overhead plane. Now the way I see it. With 2 of you, one went out to get the food and the other was locked down to “prevent infection.” Who knows if this is right or not, but makes sense to me.
Cerberus must be the smoke monster. In the upper left there is the “Possible catastrophic malfunction of Cerberus” does this mean that Cerberus is no longer under their control?
I find the “No safe location for Dharmatel servers/hub/cabling or infrastructure” are they acting against Cerberus? Is Cerberus actually something against Dharma? Or is the lack of safety due to something else, perhaps the possible EMP if the clock hits zero.
A new latin saying from this pic: liberte te ex infernus is the rather dark “Save yourself from hell”
Alright theory time: I think Dharma quarantined it’s people from the Cerberus beast. The meds given to children somehow deter the smoke animal thing should it decide to attack them, so the children are safe. Others are also theoretically safe and inoculated. The Cerberus beast though is not fully under their control anymore, however the computer system is what controls it and for whatever stupid reason - it requires human input to recharge or regain power or something otherwise it fails and lets the beast loose.
What!? They got the screencap from the producers? Some of us are trying to work out the details from blurry TV screens and don’t even have screen capture technology. Must be nice to have friends in high places.
I’m sticking with my low resolution picture downloaded for an unrelaible dial-up connection. It makes for a purer “Lost” experience. Plus it looks better in the badly Xeroxed fliers I hand out on street corners.
A few thoughts:
As someone who works in surveillance occasionally, words can not describe the rage that fills me with…
Anyways, anyone think the “incident” has anything to do with an entire hatch being scratched out?
-Joe
The main page of the site notes that this capture came from Entertainment weekly
Conspiracy!
Umm, I saw a yellow capsule with tanks all around it, not a wicker basket.
I’ll try to find a screencap.
Brian
Yeah, those propane tanks should come in handy for a pretty good sized bomb at some point.
