My original post here, and in the other “Lost” episode threads, was my attempt to find humor in the repetitious use of con artistry as a plot element in the show.
I was surprised to read here; that I was trying to piss people off (#24), that I was implying that people were fools for watching the show (#28), something about pizza (#29), that I was spoiling everyone’s fun (#217) and that I wasn’t very clever (#218). Actually that last one wasn’t a real surprise.
And, yeah, I am a little bitter about the direction the show has taken, so if I come off that way, it’s intentional. But I obviously don’t take the show as seriously as some here do and since it is not my intention to piss people off, I resolve to be less repetitious with my comments.
Perhaps the “Lost” writers will follow suit. Here’s hoping anyway.
[QUOTE=levdrakon] Ellis Dee, excellent post. I heartily agree.
For once, I watched Lost Wednesday night at it’s regular time, came here to see what people were saying and what did I find? One post by randwill which took me an eye-blick to pass by, and the rest of the first page was filled with the usual lurv-it-or-leave-it.
I just wanted to say I like the way the shows changed over the last few eps, but with Loach & Merijeek on patrol, I’m scared to say too much.

Say all you want. If you say the same crap all the time I’m sure you’ll get called on it. If you start posting shit just to piss people off you will be thought of as a troll and someone will call you on it. If you post something negative you’ll get a lot of people agreeing with you and some that won’t.
No idea if they were the same. Never participated in those threads. If I did and thought the same way about it I would have called him on it too.
There is a difference between snark and threadshitting. I snark all the time, even in GQ threads don’t tell anyone, I don’t see this as snark. There would have to be at least an attempt at humor. I don’t see that. I enjoy the show. I don’t think it is perfect and I like to discuss the bad crap they throw in. It’s not even my favorite show on TV right now. It’s an enjoyable hour of TV made more enjoyable by this thread every week. I’m just hoping it keeps being enjoyable to read this thread without the threadshitting.
I finished feeding directly a while ago. With this post I’m finished feeding indirectly.

So your interest in the show has waned - no problem. But really, to complain like a broken record that any episode may feature someone conning[sup]*[/sup] someone else (example, example, example, example) makes as much sense as complaining that the next episode of House may feature a… (wait for it…) puzzling medical case.

According to my local listings, on tonight’s (4/24) “House” he will be treating . . . a con artist!
