If the plane crashed 90 days ago and Sun is 53 days pregnant, shouldn’t she have had a menstrual cycle while on the island? Wouldn’t she have already known that she conceived on the island?
Why, so we can get to Grandma’s house, of course!
BTW, they are cutting it really close with that 8 weeks estimate. It would have to be a touch more, I think. Because 8 weeks on the nose would be 56 days. It’s been 90 days since the crash, according to Juliet. 90 - 56 == 34.
According to this timeline, it was day 35 when Jin found out his wife spoke English, moved out of her cave to the beach, and started re-building the raft with Michael. (And according to Sledgeweb’s timeline, it was day 33). And Jin wasn’t speaking to her up until right before he left on the raft (day 44). And then he didn’t see her until he got back to our side of the island – the Trek of the Tailies. Arriving back on our shores on or around day 48.
So it would have to be a little more than 8 weeks, where the conception took place before Jin stopped speaking to Sun. Because there wouldn’t have been any Jin/Sun nookie from the point Jin started the silent treatment for about two weeks after that.
Wouldn’t a flare gun be a standard issue in a parachute/oxygen/bail out get up?
One thing that came to mind last night is the incredible casting done on this show.
The originals are incredible, but those added since the show took off is even better.
Ben, Juliet, Danielle, Mikhail.
Great stuff.
Didn’t the story go that Michael Emerson, who plays Ben, was originally only casted for three or four episodes? That guy is brilliantly creepy.
Well, there’s always angry sex…?
I’m still confused about the “wounds healing faster on the island” thing. If true, why did so many Losties die? Is it because they died too quickly of their injuries, and the “magic” of the island didn’t have time to work?
Indeed, she said she is going to test all the women in the camp.

The pregnant woman are volunteers. Watch Juliet’s last episode again. Ben refers to one of the woman as a willing participant in the study.
Get off it. It’s not like they flush.
Does anyone know what Naomi said when she was speaking Chinese?
Quick question - Juliet said that none of the women who got pregnant on the island survived and carried a baby to full term. If they typically died before they reached the third trimester, would any of those babies have survived? And if they did, what did Juliet do with them?
I fully concur.
Can someone explain something to me that I can’t seem to figure out, please?
When Desmond and crew were on their journey, after they found the cable, they heard the helicopter. It looked to me like they were gazing out over the ocean, they heard the helicopter having trouble, and then saw a huge splash out in the water. Then they turned 180 degrees and headed straight into the jungle away from the crash in the water and found the girl in the trees.
At least that was the way I perceived it, but it was a dark shot. It doesn’t make sense to me. Am I missing something?
My guess is that the sequence went:
Helicopter flies from way-off island boat to island.
Naomi parachutes out to do whatever, most likely, check for Desmond being there and then signal for pickup.
Helicopter heads back from island towards boat, but mysterious Island anti-transport virus kicks in and splash!
Even though Hurley speaks Spanish and not Portuguese, how could he not know that “thank you” was not what Naomi said?
They are similar enough languages to be able to pick up bits and pieces of meaning.
Also, I can’t bring myself to hate Juliet. I do agree she’s done some bad things but I think her hands are tied. I don’t think that her motive can just be exodus. She knows how powerful Ben and the Mittleos folks are. She knows about the bad things the Others have done. I’d think she’d know that if Ben can make it so that her sister is “cured” that he could also have her killed, no? If I were Juliet, I’d be worried that my sister and nephew could be in danger. In the back of her mind she must grok that it was no “accident” that her ex-husband was run over by a bus.
Well, stress could have caused her to skip a period or have a very, very light one. It is also possible to have a very light “period” even after conception. So she may not have been 100% sure.
ScareyFaerie - Juliet said the women survived to the middle of their second trimester, so about 5 months gestation. It would be highly unlikely for a fetus of that age to survive, especially without all the fancy schmanchy neo-natal equipment and a specialist in that field on hand.
Adding to the “explain something” request… why not go back, open up that cable and see what is running through it… clearly it has to be electricity or communication… oh, right, this is Lost, and everyone is happy to play communal camping.
Thanks for clearing that up, 'im indoors was getting wildly out of control with his theories about what they’d done with the babies!
That still doesn’t entirely make sense to me. They were on the beach telling ghost stories for a good little while before they heard the helicopter. And when they first heard it, it was already over the water. Wouldn’t they have heard it on the way in, or on the way back out before it got all the way out over the ocean about to disappear off in the distance?
But, it’s ok. You have at least confirmed that I actually saw what I saw. This wouldn’t be the first scene in Lost that I didn’t fully comprehend.
She had a flashing beacon of some sort attached to her. They followed the blinking light as it headed inland. It was still blinking when they found her in the tree.
Well, how many of the guys on the island have experience dealing with high voltage cables? Do you want to be the one who cracks it open without any knowledge or safety equipment?
-Joe
Well now. If common sense was in use, things’d be different among the losties.
I’m amazed that Sayid hasn’t hacked into them. I mean he found the freaking things back when, figured out what they were, now has a map of them, and . . . is jerking off back on the beach. He’s had plenty of time to screw around with them.
