Was Ben using the gun that Alex had handed Locke? Or did Ben bring his own? If the former, then perhaps Ben is also an accomplished pickpocket.
Ahhhhh… how much simpler things might be for the whole Losties gang if Ana Lucia had the guts to shoot Ben when she had the chance (and had gone into the armory specifically for that purpose). Or even if she had not stopped Sayid from shooting his ass earlier.
Right. And so Juliet wouldn’t have heard Ben’s new orders yet – she would only know that they would be on the other side. Perhaps she told Sayid to play the other side just because she knew it would give them some extra info about whatever Ben’s next move was. Still doesn’t exonerate her, though. only thing that might exonerate her is that she confessed her role to Jack before Ben’s plans could come to fruition.
Actually, I meant in reference to this comment: “Isn’t that what they did with what’s her name?”
Isn’t that (burning the body) what they did with who? They who? Her who?
Well, they burned her on a ceremonial funeral pyre. In that case…
I doubt they’d care to give the same dignity to the Dead Dharmites. The mass grave seems more apropos for the amount of “respect” they intended to give their gas victims.
No, I noticed that one, too. Perhaps Ben was lying. That pit isn’t where the gassed Dharma were placed - it’s where he kills people who get too curious about the island (which would explain why some of them haven’t decomposed properly given the timescale on the gassing and why Alex gave Locke a gun).
Give Jack more credit than that. Don’t forget, he’s the one that came up with a previous ingenious plan:
Sayid: “Jack, Michael is leading us right into a trap. He’s working for them.”
Jack: “I know. But I have a plan.”
Sayid: “Oh?”
Jack: “Let’s just keep acting like we don’t know anything is up… and then fall into their trap exactly as they planned. Then we’ll have the upper hand! Somehow…”
I wonder if anyone else is concerned that Rousseau, the crazy woman who gets her rocks off by planting concealed booby traps randomly in the jungle is now in possession of most of the island’s TNT?
It doesn’t exonerate her, unless she’s been working with Jack on a plan to thwart the raid. We did learn something new though - that they planned to snatch Sun in 3 days. The first side of the tape only revealed that Juliet had investigated Sun’s pregnancy and that she was going to try to get a sample from Kate.
Of course at that moment I thought to myself “Sayid isn’t smart enough to listen to that whole tape to see if there’s anything else?” - gotta have your dramatic reveal, I guess. But even then, you’re right, they seemed to play it up as if it exonerated her, when it’s really just “hey, checking in, here’s the info” “okay, we’re coming soon” - that makes her seem worse, if anything - since she’s part of a plan to kidnap a lostie.
I sure hope they don’t play this as “Oh, see, we were wrong to doubt Jack, I’m sure he has a plan”, because he deserves not to be trusted, and possibly banished from the community. He chose Juliet - one of THEM - and we know how sneaky they are, she could easily be a plant - over the community. Jack completely destroyed what credibility he had.
I didn’t feel that they played it to exonerate her. If anything, she knew that by having them listen to that, they’d be more likely to kill her ass. More than exonerating her, it gave them time to realize that something is happening, and more important than burning Juliet at the stake is stopping that from happening.
Yes, it seems like Jack does have a plan, but I still don’t trust him, and won’t for the rest of the show. And you know what? I think some people, including Sayid and Sawyer, will agree. But think about it, Jack isn’t very trustworthy, we know that already. Remember is “army” plans from last season, and how he was so damn sneaky with them? Ever since he became leader of the island, Jack’s played the reluctant leader who gets pissy and revengeful whenever he doesn’t get his way, and I think that this “let’s not tell anybody” thing was yet another way of playing into that. And I despise that character even more for it.
Also, I believe TPTB have said that there will be a decently sized cast change-up in the finale. After seeing this episode, and knowing the raid plans, I’m going to have to guess that a large portion of one of the sides is going to die off. Either they’ll actually succeed in killing a lot of the others, or the others will succeed in taking the children and any pregnant women and leaving a lot of the other losties for dead. By now, they must know that if they leave them living, they’ll come after them in any way they can and kill more of them, so it’s my guess that they don’t plan on leaving the lostie camp in very good shape when they leave. We saw them do a “purge” once already when two populations “couldn’t live in peace”, and my guess would be that they’re planning another. So which side will it be that loses the largest number of people? And if it is the lostie camp that is ravaged, and say 1/2 of our current leads die off, could that be the moment the show jumps the shark. Because while I love the stuff from the others’ camp, what ties the show together for me is still the fact that we have the old losties with their problems, their goals, their relationships, and without them I don’t think I’d be as interested in the show.
If anyone is reading this though, don’t stop giving us answers and showing us the others’ camp, that has made this season my favorite, the number of things we’ve had answered and the new mysteries the answers have brought up.
I agree. Then again, I’d think they’d want to hide their pseudo-genocide a bit better, or at least eliminate the sequalae of leaving that many corpses in an open pit.
Note to self: If I ever find myself sitting in a van with someone who dons a gas mask and reaches for a little can, I have to remember to open the car door and run away.
I guess my thought was- hide from who? They killed everyone else- did they have a reasonable expectation that more Dharma folks, or anyone, would come? If so, did they care that any new Dharmites would know, since they were probably going to be hostile to them too?
Also- rememeber- “things don’t always stayed buried on this island”- maybe it had been buried!
There seems to be a lot of people assuming that the writers are reading this board/thread. That would be really cool, but I dunno. Last season I posted this:
So far - nuthin’.
But hey we can try again, just to be sure.
So go ahead “Lost” guys. Work my user name into a future episode and we’ll know you’re out there. Thanks.
