Lost Media Found. A Real Life X File is Solved

This was kind of a amazing. This link is a Twitter thread (No I am not calling it X) of a person who heard a background song in an X Files episode and liked it enough to try and find it. Her attempts only came up with other people looking for the same song but failing (some as far back as 1998 when it first aired). However, the thread went viral and through the magic of crowd sourcing not only was the song eventually identified, the creators of the song were contacted, realized the song had never been released but had fans and are going to release it online. The clincher is today when this all got finalized is the 25th anniversary of the episode’s original airing. It’s pretty amazing and reminds me of when the Dope tried to ID the actress in the Steppin’ Out video (although my memory is that was never fully confirmed)
There is the Twitter thread:

Here’s the song:

Is that the one with Michael McKean playing an Area 51-type, who ends up body swapping with Mulder? My memory is hazy so I could be wrong.

Another lost media crowdsourcing success story:

This is how somebody will find the alternate ending of Big.

“waited for what seems like a light-year”? Now that is jarring.
