I feel like such an idiot. I’ve only worked here a week, and I’m already screwing things up. Long story short: I deleted a column in Lotus Approach, and can’t get the data back. Is there any way I can retrieve an earlier version of the file from somewhere? I don’t want to have to retype 658 cells.

It’s a Gateway. We have the manual for Go Back, but the actual software doesn’t seem to have been installed, and even if I could install it, fat lot of good it would do me now. We’re running Windows 98.

Look in the windows temporary directory (usually c:\windows emp) for files with the appropriate extension (the name could very well be different).

It’s not very likely they are there, but if they are still on your computer, that’s darn good place to start looking.

A problem with a Lotus. That’s understandable, they are British cars. Hear they leak oil… oh, wait, that Lotus… I’ll leave now…
