If he is not truly a black leader, then why do news organizations keep giving him a microphone? How could that possibly help any black cause? It does nothing but harm especially because a small percentage of his audience will come to believe it.

What’s funny is a friend of mine who evacuated from the hurricane told me within 48 hours after Katrina hit that he had heard this precise rumor going around amongst people at the hospital where he worked. And this was a hospital where most of the people had been trapped with virtually no incoming news or any real idea as to the state the city was in at that time or even what parts of the city were flooded. For example one of the patients and his family were mad at my friend because the AC wasn’t working in the hospital. The patient first demanded that he be removed to XXX hospital because the one he was in was unsatisfactory, my friend replied, “well that hospital collapsed, so I don’t see you getting good medical care there.” And then the patient said he was leaving, to which my friend replied, “if you want to find a way to swim or raft through the 10 feet of water that have us surrounded on every side, then you can.” The man was a bit befuddled by that so replied, “well, I’ll just go to get some fans and be right back” (and of course he’d still have to get through the 10 feet of water, the fact that no stores would be open, and the fact that no electricity was available to power any fans he did manage to get.)

That’s why FEMA was so slow to respond, Karl Rove couldn’t assure them that all of the planted bombs had exploded and didn’t want to get any White People killed by errant charges.
