Love the smell of xxx, can't eat it!

Fish. I keep putting it on my plate because it smells so good, and then when I bite into it I remember why I don’t eat most fish.

Pumpkin pie. Smells great, tastes disgusting.

Another vote for coffee!

I hate smoking. Can’t stand cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc. but I love the smell of the tobacconist store. However, I will not buy this tobacconist, it is scratched.

Another vote for marijuana, too. I can’t smoke as it makes me too paranoid, but i do love the smell, and by extension, I like the smell of a far off skunk.

Put me down for coffee as well.

I also love everything about the smell of cigarette smoke. The only time it’s bad is if it’s been sitting for a while (then it’s pretty bad) but the smell of someone smoking around me or even afterwards is so intoxicating.

Gasoline! Love the smell of it, can’t really drink it though…

+1

The smell of grilled onions makes my mouth water, but the texture makes me gag.

Shrimp. Love it, would eat nothing else if I could, but I can’t. Several years ago I had a mess of shrimp and got all itchy and swoll. I’ll risk a small bite if they’re in front of me, because I can’t help myself, but for the most part I have to abstain from the shrimps.

Yet another coffee “smells great, tastes bad” vote…though I do drink it ( albeit sweetened and lightened with non-dairy creamer ) as an essential wake-up drink, plus it really helps “getting things moving” “downstairs”.

I remember my father smoked a pipe, and had all manner of flavored tobacco: maple rum, cherry etc. It smelled delicious. I once asked to try it, and despite the wonderful aroma, the mouth taste was just hot acrid smoke.

I love the smell of coffee - I even have boiled it just for the scent alone - but can’t drink it usually; too sensitive to caffeine (even decaf)

Gasoline.

I still remember how delicious (1950’s) Play-Doh used to smell. After my first and only taste test I decided to stick with enjoying the fragrance.

I love the smell of xxx in the morning.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a real porn theater, but I don’t really recall the smell of triple X all that fondly.

If I can expand the OP a bit: Weed. I’m a real lightweight, after just a little I get very confused to the point I can hardly speak English. But I love the smell.

Me, too! Also mothballs, gasoline, acetone and - in the words of Bill Bryson, skunk, when it’s just far enough away that you sniff and say, “Is that a skunk?”

I always liked the smell of a new Band-Aid.

Same thing here. I can detect it in microscopic amounts; ketchup too. Never liked either.

I always liked the smell of coffee and beer when I was a youngster. I found them to not taste nearly as good as they smell!

I have read that acquired tastes are merely Stockholm syndrome applied to taste buds. It really helps it along when the beverages in question have visceral rewards!

Same, sadly. The only time I’ve managed to drink coffee was in a Turkish place, but that was a moment of exceptional need. How can something that smells so enticing taste so fecking minging?
