Lubavitch question

We attended a service for Rabbi Holtzberg at the local Chabad house.
There were photographs of the murdered people and we were invited to light candles as we left. Mrs. plant remarked later that she had never seen candles and pictures at a Jewish memorial service. Is this a Lubavitcher thing?
Thanks,
CP

I don’t think it’s a particularly Lubavicher thing, I think it was just something they thought of on the fly to give guests a feeling of doing something when the memorial in question was neither formally a funeral nor a Shiva house.

Thank you.
