One report indicated the deal was finished the day before the actors’ contracts were scheduled to expire. They can renew them without having to get them to agree to a new one.

Me too, much more than I like Lucifer (though I watch that too). That was a weird one. They already ordered the season. The season was already written and ready to shoot. Then they cancelled out of the blue.
I saw a followup interview with the show creators, saying there will be 10 episodes, with options for more. Production starts in August.
