Back from a week and a half of being a counsellor at Camp, and another week and a half of travelling in a beat up old bus through New Mexico and Colorado (I’m gonna scan all my pictures of that trip and make an online photo album. You guys get to see it when I’m done.) I saw some of the coolest people and places in this country, including Capullin Volcano, Bishop’s Castle, Bottomless Lake, Echo Canyon, Camp Hale (slept in the abandoned bunkers!), The Roswell Crash Site, and many others. We slept under the stars most nights, and we had ass-freezing fun.
On the night of my return I purchased two tickets to the Robert Earl Keen show at the Backyard. I then called my friend, told him to get dressed and get some weed, then picked him up and went to the show. We started out sitting, and this nice lady kept giving us beers out of her cooler. We bummed a cigarette, got the tobacco out, stuffed it full of the kindest bud I’ve ever smoked, and toked it up in line for the porta-potties. We then proceeded up to about 15 feet from Robert Earl. After the show, we drove out to RJ’s Texas Roadhouse and ate Nachos (there was a passed out black guy sprawled across the table right by the entrance). I dropped him off and returned to my own home, said hi to my parents and went to sleep. It was a badass night, and certainly squeezed about as much fun from my first night back as I could be expected to. I also got a great new sig line from my friend while we were at RJ’s.
I leave again on the 22nd. Yeesh.
