"Lupin" - Netflix Series

I’m in love with the character and the imaginative writing of this Netflix series. For those of you with civilized sensibilities, it’s mild violence mixed with a ton of cleverness, so it should be palatable. The main character, " Assane Diop" (Omar Sy), is totally 3-dimensionsal, and the character evolve’s and matures throughout the series. I highly recommend it. In fact, I can’t think of a series that I’ve enjoyed as much as this.

I don’t want to say more because watching it all unfold is a big part of its entertainment. Spoilers would indeed be spoilers.

Love Lupin, hoping for Series 3!

Enjoyed it a lot, my husband and i watched it a while ago.

I’m fairly impressed how they manage to write him as a sympathetic anti-hero. I mean, the guy’s a thief and pretty unreliable in a lot of ways, yet you still cheer for him anyway. And even more impressively, you manage to cheer for the thief and the cops as well.

Don’t you mean Part 5? Part 4 just released earlier this month.

I don’t know if you are aware but, in case you aren’t, part 4 just came out on October 23rd. It just keeps getting better!

Really fun show. I just wish they wouldn’t wait so long between seasons! (with all series I might add) We are going to start Season 3 so we can get back into it before starting Season 4.

Agreed! I checked and, according to the dates I found, almost 3 years to the day passed between part 3 and part 4.

Thanks! Our basement (where we watch TV) flooded over the summer, any is still under construction. Something to look forward to when we have use of the TV again.

I really enjoyed part 1. Part 2[1] dropped a little in quality but was still worth watching.

I watched the first episode of season 3 but couldn’t get into it. Diop just wasn’t the same relatable character. Did it get better? Is Part 4 good?

  1. Parts 1 and 2 were filmed as a 10-episode single season, but Netflix split it into two. It’s one of the few shows on Netflix that is labeled only by “parts”, not “seasons”. ↩︎

I think it’s been outstanding but, as the old saying goes, “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.” You’ll have to judge for yourself.

I thought so; it leans a bit more into the interpersonal relationships than previous seasons, but it’s not bad for all of that.

I think the reason I lost interest was because in Part 1, it was easy to root for Diop. In Part 2 when his son becomes part of the storyline, I found it more difficult to root for him because you realize he kind of sucks as a father. The arrogance that made him fun in Part 1 became a liability when you see it in relation to his son.

I’ll try Part 3 again and see if I like it with fresh eyes.

That is really addressed in Part 4. I’ll leave it at that.

We watched the earlier releases, but now have forgotten it all and will have to start over.

Wooohoooooooo, I had remembered my numbers wrong and was unaware of the recent drop! Well I know what I’m watching tonight!! Thank you!
