Just my very first post EVER here, and I want to introduce myself to everybody. I am the SO of Lucretia, and I’ve been kinda “over-the-shouldering” for a few months now. I’m currently deployed to Saudi Arabia for the Air Force. Fourteen years of faithful service to same, intelligence mostly, and currently assigned to National Security Agency. I met some of you at our gathering in Capitol City Brewing Co., and thought it would be nice to get back in touch. I’ve followed the posts, read the rules, and I believe I can comport myself at least as well as most, but if I go off the trolley, it’s inadvertant. Be patient with the new guy, and I’ll try to fit into our little community. Feel free to write to say “hello”.
So, you’re in military intelligence?
Welcome aboard.
I’ve learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.

Welcome, Bluesman! Glad to have you here! Hope your stay is long and prosperous.
<android, not hard, considering his job>
BTW, Bluesman, my hubby is very close by to you. He’s in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He’s retired AF, and is working for a civilian company hired to revamp their non-existent military medical system. Holler at him for me, wouldya?
<just don’t, whatever you do, call him Mr. PURPLEbear! just Mr. Bear will do.>
You sing in my consciousness like a counterpoint to my life.
L.L.
Bluesman - hey, it’s about time you came out into the open! When I saw the thread title, I was wondering if it might be you. I was one of the group at the CCBC back in February, along with Bricker, Falcon, Tris, wierddave, John Corrado (where has he been lately?), and a host of others, including you and your lovely lady.
Welcome to the party - beer is in the cooler, chips are in the bag on the counter (we’re pretty relaxed in our entertaining style here), and the pizza guy ought to be here soon!
Welcome! Sounds like you have a way cool job!

Hi baby! Keeping the homefires burning for my Bluesman…
Cool! Glad to see ya posting, bluesman! (Yes! We didn’t scare him off from the DC Dopers meeting…)
And RT - I think John’s temp job ended, so his internet connection is a bit spotty. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, it’s a lot of fun, but the pay SUCKS! If you want to make some money, anything involving wearing a name-tag is prolly a bad career move.
Is everybody in here aware of how cool this person is? How beautiful, inside and out? Do you know how smart and tough she is, and what a collection of talents, fine qualities and character she brings with her into this world? I do…
For Bluesman and ChiefScott and our other Boys Over There—
Oh, I’m madly keen to entertain the troops!
Whether it’s singly or in groups—
I’ll entertain in barracks, or even a large marquee;
I’ll give them swing or Wagner’s “Ring” or selections from “Rose Marie!”
When the soldiers are off-duty for a moment,
I feel they need a bit of boop-a-doops;
It’s my duty to the nation to stay well in circulation—
Oh, I’m madly keen to entertain the troops!

Hey, speaking of drinking and snacking, let’s do the get-together thang again. We really had fun. I’ll be back in June, so we’ve got some time to get it together. You up for it?
Welcome to the board, Bluesman! Once you get past the initiation, and the wounds heal, you’ll have a great time!
One of my best friends is in Abu Dhabi too. He’s a PC tech for an oil company.
Hmm…and you live in TX, too, PB?
Psychic twins!
You say “cheesy” like that’s a BAD thing.
Yeah, but you can, like, kills guys with your thumbs, and stuff, right?
Actually maybe you can answer a question: a good friend of my mother’s works in Saudi as an occupational therapist at a big hospital (used to be at the SAF hospital in Taif), and she said something about the religious police being at least partly recruited from small-time criminals? Can this be so? (Not that you probably come into contact with them on a US base).

"My hubby is in Abu Dhabi . . "
—So, did you have an Abu Dhabi honeymoon?
Absolutely! If I can persuade my wife, I’m thinking our backyard deck would be an ideal place. When in June do you return?
Hi Bluesman! Glad you’re posting!
Gotta ask–why “Bluesman”? Music, or uniform color? My husband is a fine blues guitar player, so you’ll understand why I had to open this thread. Thought maybe he decided to join the board.
Right.
Hope to see more of you!
This space blank, until Wally thinks up something cool to put here.
Welcome abroad.
I thought we had a B’more location penciled in for the next DC Dpoerfest, but I’d be okay with Firefly’s place. Er… wherever that is.
