If you’re lurking here and see that your Join Date is in one of the missing months and your post count is sufficiently small to label you a Lurker, please post.

Do I win a prize; least for the longest?
For work and family, friends and all I am the “answer man” and really really tired of hearing my own “voice”. I come here to practice what I heard as a child “You learn more by listening than by talking”. Also on a couple of other boards I seem to be a “thread stopper”; as soon as I post the thread dies and I don’t want that happening here.

I believe I have a bit of that brown thumb myself when it comes to killing threads. I can do it by just posting them sometimes!

Since I don’t get to read the boards until after the kids are in bed, I’m usually tired (many typos) and any interesting threads are pages long when I start reading, so anything I might want to add has been said already. Plus there’s all the effort of actually typing up a response.

I’d actually consider myself a lurker as well, even though I make a lot of topics.

I make them, however, I don’t ever read any (at least while on here, not even my own)(actually, that’s not true, I sometimes read topics and my own, but not very often). What I do is print them out and read them at home. And if that’s not considered lurking in a way, I don’t know what is.

Far be it from me to argue with how you view your own habits, but with an average of over a post a day for over a year, I’ll refrain from adding your data to the list I’m keeping (and posting periodically). It’s good that you described your methods of participation, and there may be others who “lurk” the way you do.

Wow. I thought I was a lurker, but I don’t hold a candle to you all. I post in spurts. Sometimes I’ll go months without posting, though I read almost every day. Then I’ll have 10 or 20 in a week, then back to lurking.

I’ve had 2 posts today, I’m all breathless. I think these are my 1st posts since reregistering.

Please see my comments to Idle Thoughts a few posts back. At first the 584 posts looked excessive for “Lurker” status until I checked your post rate to see it’s way less than one per day. I’ve added your data to the list I’m maintaining, not that the list has any significance beyond being what I’ve been posting from time to time as an update of those who have elected to post here.

As a modification to the “rules” for deciding if you’re a Lurker – for purposes of this thread – how about a post rate of less than 0.5 per day? Until we get a batch of posts from people who deem themselves Lurkers, with post rates approaching 1-per-day, I’d advocate the .5-per-day as a cutoff. I’ll be keeping the list based on that number anyway.

Wel, sir, (it is sir, right?), as you’re a Moderator I guess you can call yourself whatever you choose, but as noted above, the list I repost off and on is for Lurkers as defined in the post just above.

At the risk of having this thread killed off as a zombie, I’m giving it a bump for the benefit of other Lurkers who may wish to be acknowledged as such, or who may have missed it when it was “a hot topic” last summer.

Now I feel like pitting dmartin29 over the whole “longest with the least” thing.

If I claimed that I was never going to post again over this would it count as a meltdown or just lurker strategy?
