D’oh! You’re right. She did it first. My bad.
Oh Where Art Thou Threadkiller ?
Thing I noticed immediately upon opening this thread that has me really confused: Since when does the SDMB allow someone who is a “Guest” post?
That’s odd…I’m pretty sure it used to say “member.”
?
Maybe the administration is trying to subliminally reinforce the idea in Du_Hast’s head that he can be made unwelcome?
That’s really interesting, Knead, because when this thread started, Du_Hast was listed as “Member”. Has his status been temporarily downgraded as a “probation”, or something? Or has there just been a Board glitch?
Hold your fire. I don’t think Du_Hast thought the picture was funny. His objectionable posts reads, title and all:
**
Did the thread originate in IMHO? Because it sounds like Du_Hast, who himself found the photo disturbing, was asking people to post or describe other disturbing photos. There’s nothing in there about finding it funny. It’s entirely possible that he did think about how much pain she was in, and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Perhaps he posted the photo, not to scare others, but because it scared him, and he wanted to desensitize himself. Immature, but not malicious.
But there’s a thread roaming around this board that I can’t read. I think it has at least one sibling, too. It is, or they are, titled to the effect of “What’s the most horrific accident you’ve witnessed? What’s the worst you’ve ever hurt yourself?” I stopped reading the first such one after someone described an accident that maimed one family member and killed another. It sounded as if photos of the aftermath, the autopsy, and the survivor would be pure gold to rotten.com.
I’ve been to that site. Du_Hast’s link was disabled by the time I saw it, but according to the description, I think I might have seen this photo there. At any rate, I can imagine how gruesome it was. And it would have upset me. The picture I did see upset me, whether it’s the same one or not. But I was also upset by things I read in the above-mentioned threads, when I did read them.
So if it’s wrong to link to an image of disfigurement, why is it okay to describe it?
