Honicutt’s parents are Bee and Jay. We discovered that when Hawkeye is trying to figure out what BJ stands for.
I don’t think anyone’s mentioned it yet, but I don’t think Hawkeye was always from Crabapple Cove Maine. In the earlier episodes he was from some other New England towne. (e added for that special olde tyme emphasis)
Timothy Brown played Spearchucker. O’Houlihan was Margaret’s last name in the movie.
I’m going out of town this weekend, so I won’t be here to add new questions. The thread will probably drop into obscurity, but I will ressurect it when I return on Monday or Tuesday. Here’s some questions to work on.
Who convinced Father Mulcahy to become a chaplain? Third time asked.
How many episodes is Sidney Freedman in? This one can be a group session, everybody try to name the episodes he’s in and count them. Keep working on this!!
What are the names of Radar’s Guinea pigs? Third time asked.
What role did George Wendt play on the show?
What piece of medical equipment did BJ develop?
What was Frank’s dream the night Hawkeye and Trapper stole his blood?
In a rather bland episode, Charles falls in love with a French Red Cross woman. What was her deceased boyfriend’s name?
What is wrong with the sign Charles makes for Marilyn Monroe’s vist to the 4077th?
In the episode where Hawkeye moves out on his own, leaving Charles and BJ alone together, what happens to Erin, BJ’s daughter(according to the letter he receives from Peg)?
What four characters receive promotions during the course of the shows run?
That’s all for the weekend. Remember, just because the questions are going unanswered for longer, don’t give into the temptation to use the internet to find them!
George Wendt was the Marine who “won” the bet that he could get a pool ball in his mouth. Charles gave him a ton of verbal abuse, along with muscle relaxant, as he popped it out.
Characters who got promoted … hmm…
I take it you’re not counting Radar’s joke promotions to Corporal-Captain or First Lieutenant. Good question why he never made Sergeant, though.
Klinger MAY have been a Private early in the show, but he was definitely a Corporal by the end.
No idea about any others.
I can think of two different machines that were created. I remember a dialysis (sp?) machine, but it was created out of items from the Sears & Roebuck catalogue and modeled after a machine that was already developed (I believe it was in that great episode that took place over the course of a year - one of my favorites).
Also was a machine that cooled blood - but I can’t remember the name of it, or if that was any different than the above machine.
One of Radar’s G. pigs was named Babbette, but I can’t remember the male’s name; BJ invented/developed whatever the thing is that shocks the heart (a defibulator, maybe?) in the same episode where a boxing champ vistis the 4077 and has a stroke.
Klinger - promoted from corporal to sergeant
Mulcahey - promoted from lieutenant to captain
Burns - promoted from major to captain (after he left the show)
The last is a bit tricky. It could be either:
Rader - promoted to lieutenant and then back to corporal, or
Blake - I don’t remember what the promotion was, but it involved him being relocated to Tokyo.
Pizza oven, I think
BJ - dreams he’s dancing with his wife, then gets pulled away to surgery
Margaret - in her wedding dress, is confronted with dead and dying soldiers
Klinger - dreams he’s back in Toledo
Charles - dreams he’s performing magic while a patient is dying
Hawkeye - dreams he’s being asked questions (in a class?); when he can’t answer his arms are removed; he then ends up in a rowboat with no way to move (his dream was the only one with dialogue, IIRC).
Actually, the episode was called “Dreams”
Now here’s one question from me:
Which of the main characters were faithful to their spouses?
Faithful to their spouses?
BJ
Margaret
Col. Potter
The incubator was traded for the bathtub.
Erin has some accidents with her potty training.
and BJ definitely invented the defibrillator, afte having read in a journal about some research happening in the States which suggested it was possible.
Frank Burns was promoted to lieutenant colonel.
A new set of questions:
101. What did Margaret yell at Alex Karras (playing a Marine whom Hawkeye treated) after Karras picked Frank up and started spinning around?
102. When Klinger went to I-Corps to intercept some papers he had incorreclty sent to them, which other MAS*H character did he impersonate?
103. When an injured soldier (played by Rick Hurst) got a Dear John letter from his girlfriend, what trick did Hawkeye, BJ and Margaret cook up for Hurst to get back at her?
104. In “Tell It to the Marines,” what happened to allow the Dutch-born Marine, whose mother was about to be deported, to be able to see her?
105. In the episode “Moose,” what was a “Moose”?
106. What year did Charles graduate from Harvard?
107. What was the name of Col. Potter’s horse?
108. Thad Mumford, Robert Altman, Larry Gelbart. Which of these was not connected with the TV series?
109. In the episode “Kim,” why doesn’t Trapper get to arrange for the adoption of the Korean boy named Kim?
110. In an episode in 1980, the whole 4077th bets against Klinger and Charles that the Dodgers will win the 1951 pennant. Of course, they didn’t. What one player won the pennant for the Giants in the playoff?
When an injured soldier (played by Rick Hurst) got a Dear John letter from his girlfriend, what trick did Hawkeye, BJ and Margaret cook up for Hurst to get back at her?
Was that the one where they gathered up photos of women for the soldier to return with the note “I’d be happy to return your picture, but I can’t remember which one is you. Please keep yours and return the others.”?
In the episode “Moose,” what was a “Moose”?
A servant/slave.
What was the name of Col. Potter’s horse?
Sophie
In the episode “Kim,” why doesn’t Trapper get to arrange for the adoption of the Korean boy named Kim?
I think Kim’s family was located.
More questions:
What did Hawkeye write in Radar’s autograph book?
What were the responses (and by whom) to the notification of Winchester’s assignment to the 4077th?
113) Why does Margaret scream “Pioneer Aviation!”?
It’s a phony stock Hawkeye and Trapper trick Frank into wanting to buy. 115) Who is Kim Luck?
He’s an elderly Korean, a professional accident victim, who fakes injuries after stepping in front of jeeps to squeeze whatever he can out of the driver. Pat Morita’s character says his age is “about 150 years,” and his height is “about 5 foot nothing.”
