I am convinced- I’ll try Firefox. I’ve tried to DL it twice from the official site. Both times, i get a bizarre download that forces my Microsoft Excel to open up- in Test Install mode. The download I get from Firefox is not the normal Stuffit compressed software download at all.
Any idea on how I can DL the Firefox software?

Exactly what filename ends up on your desktop when you download? (Most likely your file associations are bollixed up and Excel thinks it owns a filetype it shouldn’t).
Firefox downloads as a standard .dmg file, so it’s not a StuffIt archive anyway. What browser are you using to download Firefox? Is Mozilla.org correctly identifying your OS?
I used IE, a browser I have just eliminated forever from the machine. I will try using Safari now to download it.
