I’ve been using Dictation on the Mac for a long time without a problem. Within the last day or so, Dictation isn’t working in all the applications. It worked in TextEdit fine, but it no longer works when using the Google Chrome web browser or Safari. It doesn’t work in Open Office either.
I’ve been using the right-command key as the toggle by hitting it twice.
I suspected the problem might be with my specific login’s environment, so I created a test account. And it worked without any problem in the test account on all the above applications.
I’ve gone through and tried removing some dictation preferences but that hasn’t gone anything. I’ve tried the suggestion I read about where to turn it off, restart and turn it back on, but that doesn’t do it.
Any suggestions what it might be? Because it worked perfectly in the test account. I guess I could do a ‘diff’ of the plist files for my account that has the problem to compare it to the test account that is working, but don’t know if that will reveal anything or if the plist files might be created unique to each login account.
