I have long wanted to visit the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, and it occurs to me some of you guys might be interested.
What I have in mind is Sunday, May 18th (a week after Mother’s Day, a week before Memorial Day), go down, hit the museum, have lunch, maybe do something else later, if any Baltimore Dopers have suggestions. Perhaps some DC dopers would want to come up?
I can give at least one person a ride down from Philly – plus one or two others, if they are short or otherwise limited in their legroom needs.
Actually twickster, we’ve been. That’s not to say we wouldn’t go again, it was pretty cool. Hopefully they’ve changed the exhibit by now. When we where there it was War and the Apocalypse, tre depressing and more than a bit overhelming. Make sure you make it to the top floor to the permanet exhibits including the hand carved Thunderbird coffin. (The car, not the mythical beast.)
Also, we found a great Chineses resturaunt we’d like to revisit. And we still need to go on the sub. And moi can’t go to Baltimore without visiting the sharks.
cheers,
Man oh man, what’s a girl got to do to get to see RTFirefly again? I had my hopes all up for the Chance(Dope)Fest and now you come in here and rain on this parade? sighs
Okay. Sorry 'bout all that drama. Twickster, I’d love to return to AVAM. (Thanks for the shout-out, btw :)) I’m particularly interested to revisit Baltimore, as there’s some chance I may be interning there this summer.
I’ve been dying to visit that museum - we almost went there one afternoon, but we were pooped. And it’s just a few steps from our marina. Unfortunately, I won’t be in Baltimore that weekend, although I will be there the weekend before and the weekend after.
I will be soooo glad when I’m a full-time MAD so I have a better chance of doing cool stuff.
I was trying to avoid Mother’s Day weekend assuming people would have things to do (neither having nor being a mother, I don’t) – but if the 11th works better for people, I’m flexible.
