Mad Magazine.....ya' gotta love it (LOTR)

While I personally could give a rat’s ass about this whole Lord of the Ring hoo-ha, I have noticed that several 'dopers find this to be a fascinating topic.

While going through my vast and apparently worthless collection of Mad Magizines (oldest from April '67), I came across Issue # 210, October 1979.

Under ‘Departments’ there is theBreaking The Hobbit
department, which is a MAD musical satire, “The Ring And I” I haven’t read it as it would mean nothing to me. However, if you are one of those dopers who find this sort of thing almost better than sex, email me and I will happily send you a copy.

Why? Because I thought some of you guys would enjoy it
(Lord knows why) and I am here to keep y’all happy. Plus,
I have no life.

(who’s this “Frodo” guy?)

aside to Mods: I didn’t know if this should go to Cafe Society or the garbage, so you make the call

Thanks for the generous offer, but I don’t fall into the category you describe above.

To answer your question, Frodo was the inspiration behind all those '60’s tee shirts that had the message: “Frodo Lives!” (And how’s that for a complete and satisfying answer?)

Hmmm…I’d probably like it for my SO’s benefit. He’s an addict. Then again, it night be one of those “poking fun at sacred things” deals that he can’t deal with. (He’s not religious, so I don’t get a nice simple guideline, no its things like fantasy authors and the military…)

Oh well, at the very least I’d get a laugh out of it.

Well, since I fall under the almost-as-good-as-sex category (yes, my roommates haven’t yet got their fill of ribbing me yet…) I would love to see it…but I suppose that means I will have to navigate my way to your email address now, doesnt’ it?

[sub]…I just hope the movie lives up…[/sub]

I think it sounds great. I am of the camp that enjoys Tolkein as a good read, but he is not the be-all-end-all. E-mail message on the way.
