A mandatory overtime session leaves the writers trying to stave off late-night boredom; Roger throws a party, and Joan and Greg host one of their own; and Sally and Grandpa have a run-in.

So get a peak into Dr & Mrs Rape’s homelife. In the AMC’s sneak peak Joan and Jane have a little run in. Love Jane’s comment about her rings ;). Is Grandpa McCain actually molest Sally? He mistook Betty for his late wife last season, but Sally’s a small child not an adult like Betty. Then again he could briefly regress to his boyhood and decide to play doctor.
The highlight for me was Joan’s eyes when her husband forced her to bring out the accordion. I hope she finds a way to hurt the bastard before she dumps his ass.
Love Peggy’s secretary.
So, is Roger happy with Jane? He doesn’t seem to like being out of favor with Don, not just professionally but personally. He values Don’s opinion.
I think Roger is just upset about the cold shoulder he’s been getting due to his marriage to Jane, and doesn’t like being seen as a foolish old man infatuated with a young woman.
I lol’d at the drug “pusher” coming all that way to deliver a few joints. But I guess they were friends, and times were different.
I was sure they were going to “invent” the Cuba Libre as an ad pitch - even though it had already been in existence in actuality - much like Don invented Lucky Strikes “It’s toasted” slogan.
Do they have to get permission from the real ad agencies or creators who originally made these ads to claim that these ads were generated by Don’s ad agency, or not?
I thought it was interesting that, while almost everyone seemed amused by Sterling in blackface, both Pete and Don looked uncomfortable with it.
Campbell and Cosgrove have apparently set aside their differences in the name of lording themselves over Creative
Betty seemed upset/annoyed that Jane knew about their separation but what did she expect? She’d kick Don out of the house for something like a month and no one would ever find out about it?
I was expecting Grandpa McCain to administer some old school discipline on the bratty (and stealing) daughter, leading up to another conflict but… nope.
I wasn’t all that in love with the pot scenes. Peggy was all right and at least they didn’t play it up like some teen comedy but most of it felt like wasted time to me. Was fun to see Kinsey get all upset about people knowing he’s from New Jersey though.
I, for one, liked Joan’s song.
But I can see where the accordian doesn’t fit into her feminine mystique.
Dr Rape intended to embarass Joan when he busted out the accordion, but she owned it. I think we got a pretty good idea of who rules their roost most of the time.
Pete & Trudy’s dance was great. I loved the look on his face - he loved the attention.
The guy hitting on Betty was interesting. Does he have a pregnancy fetish or something?
Everyone brought out their hidden talents last night. Even Sally, who reads aloud really well from a book that’s way too advanced for her.
Joan was adorable. I’m glad she didn’t let Greg get the best of her. I take it that Greg screwed up an operation and didn’t tell Joan about it. Maybe he won’t get the chief resident job, after all.
Roger’s minstrel show routine had me groaning out loud. Pete and Trudy were a little pathetic with their dance number.
Carla guessed that Sally stole Gene’s $5, but she won’t say anything. Good for Carla. Also, she stood up to Gene when he made borderline racist remarks.
When the women were talking in the kitchen, it sounded (from the guest wives) like a question of “If” Dr. Rape gets the position, not “When”.
I suppose some drama has to come into Joan’s life or else her husband would become Chief Resident, she’d leave Sterling Cooper and she’d pretty much leave the show.
Oh! And no Brits this episode. That made it worth it right there.
