Mad Men

Hello…

Are there any Mad Men threads- nothing comes up in the search? I have recently NetFlixed it and become a fan (especially of the Don/Betty and Peggy storylines). I’ve heard other people on here reccommend it but I’d love to talk about it a little. If there are no other threads- feel free to discuss here (I’ve just finished the last of season 2 :)!)

Hasn’t the new season started yet?

The new season starts mid-August. In the interim, try searching for the name Draper on SD.

Starts August 16th. The wife and I are burning through Season 2 ASAP in anticipation. Actually, I don’t know how I’ll settle for watching it once a week now instead of seeing whole seasons as a block.

I’ll be up for talking about it once I finish Season 2. Wouldn’t want to spoil it for me at this point.

Also, since you can’t search on Mad Men because of the character minimum, do a Google search.

I started last season’s finale thread under the title “Mad**-**Men”, note the hyphen. It shows up in search. You can also trying searching for things like “Peggy Olsen”, “Dick Whitman”, or “Sterling Cooper”.

Note: AMC is running a Mad Men Season 2 marathon on Monday August 10 starting at 7:00am EDT. Not sure how/if the start time shifts in other time zones.

Funny, my wife and I just finished watching season 1 on DVD and we’re both into it.

I’m going to have to do some searches for earlier threads.

Thanks for the search tips! Looking forward to next season.

Check this out.

Dyna Moe has been creating art inspired by the show for some time. AMC hired her to help you create avatars dressed in cool Mad Men-era fashions.

Just save your avatar or place him (or her) in a scene from the show for your desktop…

Haha… that “Mad Men Yourself” thingie is why I know the new season starts on the 16th. My MMY-generated image is my desktop wallpaper

I got all excited when Alan Sepinwall (TV critic) posted on his blog that he’d been to an AMC party where the S3 premiere of Mad Men was screened. But all he could reveal was that it was terrific.

We just cancelled cable so we’re going to have to wait until whenever the DVDs get released and sign up for Netflix at that point I guess. :frowning:

When do they tend to come out, by the way?

The DVD’s for Season 2 were released on July 14th–so you’ll have a bit of a wait.

For those who’ve followed it on TV, do they offer it for viewing online after the fact or tend to repeat episodes during the week?

Apparently I’m going to be on vacation for the premier and I’ve never been in a hotel room that had A&E. I suppose I can set the VCR… man, watching it in standard definition on the 15" TV/VCR combo is going to suck after watching it in Blu-Ray on the big screen. And to think I’m the one who nixed the DVR idea. “What, we never record anything anyway so why would we need a DVR?”

I don’t remember re-runs during the week. But they might show them OnDemand. Currently, Season 2 is available for those with OnDemand.

It’s AMC, not A&E. Hotel rooms probably don’t have AMC either though.

Once you pick a facial hair, you can’t go back to having no facial hair, once you put something in either hand, you can’t have empty hands again, you can’t have facial hair a different color than the hair on your head, and . . . I’m sure I’m missing something here . . . I couldn’t figure out how to put pants on.

AMC may rerun the episodes once during the week, but I don’t think they do it more than that. Episodes are also available on iTunes shortly after they air for $2.99 each.

To get rid of facial hair, click again on the facial hair you have on right now. That will erase it. Works with nose, something in your hand, etc.

Pants come with the top you choose.

I hear you on the facial hair not being able to be a different color than head hair though.
