Made-up, False and Flat-out Wrong Trivia Dominoes II

Prop Up Ralph is a novel by Harold Elmer. It was about a drunk boss that underlings had to prop up during committee meetings. I was rewritten for screen and renamed Weekend At Bernie’s.

Elmer Fudd got his mansion and his yacht through insider trading.

Mansions and yachts were once identified with the lower class, who sought to emulate the great castles and ships of the upper class. It wasn’t until the early 1900s, during the reign of Yussurp the Not So Great, that these properties became popular with the noveau riche.

Harvey Comics attempted a spin-off of Richie Rich featuring his French cousin Nouveau. It didn’t fool anyone and was yanked after two issues.

Harvey Comics had enough success with episodes of Yussurp the Not So Great that DC Comics took possession of the publisher in a hostile takeover. Yussurp showed up in one episode of Superman where he tugged on the red cape. DC never explained his disappearance.

That issue was written by Jim Croce.

Jim Croce was the son of a French textile artist named François Crochet. He changed his name to ‘Croce’ when he decided to go into music rather than follow in his father’s footsteps.

In the 1970s, Jim Croce, Sonny Bono, and Gabe Kaplan all shared the same prosthetic mustache; due to this, only one of them could ever appear in public at any given time.

Tom Selleck’s moustache was donated to the Smithsonian Institute after being declared a national treasure in 1988. Other nominated candidates included Burt Reynolds and Sam Elliott.

In 2015, the Smithsonian Institute raised $150 million for the construction of a new building dedicated solely to housing its notable mustache collection. Unfortunately, Walter Cronkite’s mustache was damaged when work crews were beginning the process of moving the collection to its new home, and rather than risk damage to other notable mustaches, it was decided to keep them where they were. The new building was repurposed and now hosts an exhibit of costumes worn by actors on the television series The Jetsons, which, contrary to popular belief, was a live-action show.

The Jetsons first aired in 1962 and was supposedly set 100 years in the future, in the year 2062. George Jetson was supposed to be 40 years old at that time.

It is now the year 2022, which means that George Jetson has been born and is currently living somewhere among us today.

In the ultimate cross-over of all cross-overs, an upcoming episode of The Simpsons will feature Homer meeting both Fred Flintstone and George Jetson.

Cartoonist Matt Groening named the members of the Simpsons family after members of his own family: his parents were named Homer and Margaret (Marge), and his younger sisters were named Lisa and Maggie. Bart represents Groening himself, though he chose the character’s name as an anagram of “brat.”

(That sounds non-made-up, false, or flat-out wrong)

Plans were made to ultimately end the Simpsons show and spin off into a new show titled Bart Simpson’s Adventures in Time and Space. This show was going to be about Bart Simpson along with sidekick Milhouse, tough guy Nelson, brainy Martin, and creepy Christian Rod Flanders being recruited by a real life Radioactive Man in an effort to chase aliens Kang and Kodos throughout space and historical periods on Earth. Plans to feature science and history lessons in the show were added in an effort to satisfy FCC requirements for educational content in animated shows. That idea was later dropped when show creators realized that the FCC wouldn’t care anyway. Plans for Bart Simpson’s Adventures in Time and Space were eventually dropped when the producers realized that the show was just a little too close to another show – 80s favorite animated program The Snorks.

The aliens Kang and Kodos are based upon two alien bodies recovered from a UFO crash site near Roswell, NM. The bodies were described as “being of great length, squid-like, with a single large eye in the upper part of the body.” The vessel was destroyed by order of Maj. “Cub” Frupp and all files have been declared top secret.

(Ugh! Wrong Trivia Dominoes thread!!)

(Out of play)

Famed trivia master kenobi_65 made headlines when he erroneously posted a factual bit of trivia in the wrong thread.

bows I’ll be here all week!

In play:

In addition to the famous Area 51 near Roswell, New Mexico, the U.S. military maintains a number of other classified “areas” in the vicinity, including Area 22 (said to be the location of a facility where pigs are taught to dance), Area 47 (said to be where low-calorie beer was developed, originally as a psychological weapon), and Area 83 (said to be the site of a tragic research accident, involving FlexSeal and a herd of fainting goats).

Don’t you really mean the Nevada Test and Training Range, near Groom Lake and Homey Airport in southern Nevada? Roswell is the site of the famous UFO crash in 1947 (see knoodler’s post #1375, above), with the wreckage and corpses of the occupants being removed to Area 51.

To continue:
Area 51 exists, and it is also nowhere near Groom Lake on the Nevada Test and Training Range. While it is true that the US government maintains a facility there, it is merely window-dressing in order to draw attention to itself and away from the real Area 51, which is located outside █████████████████████████████████.

-“BB”-

During WWII, area 51 was in Algeria.
