Madeleine Allbright, You Are A Liar!

I was listening to the hearings in Washington, about terrorism and 9/11. I listened to Madeleine Allbright explain away why NOTHING was done about Bin Laden during the 8 years of the Clinton regime. She said words to the effect that we HAD NO GROUNDS to arrest/abduct Bin Laden! What a lie…the government of Sudan offered several times to turn him over to the US-and we did nothing!
Because Clinton had other things on his mind!
Meanwhile, Ms. Allbright feels no remorse for the thousands of American murdered by those savages…she just thinks “we did everything possible”!
May she and Clinto go to a very warm place!

“…words to the effect…” is a bit slippery, Ralph. Presumably, a transcript is not available? As it stands, we have her position as filtered through you. Not that this isn’t the gold standard, or anything, but still, a reference with actual verifiable quotes is preferable.

You may at least comfort yourself in knowing that those terrible days are past, and we rest secure with that paragon of candor and straight-forward speech, Colin Powell.

(This is a test…if your sarcasm detection parameters do not register at least 6.8, you need to recalibrate)

I haven’t read/saw her testimony but I don’t think I’ll be listening to your interpretation much.

If you show me your link, I’ll show you mine.

Oh heck. Here’s mine.

Okay so now where’s your link that quoted Albright saying that the admin did nothing about ObL.

“Loser!”

This site, which is dedicated to debunking another site that claims to debunk Al Franken’s latest book, goes into the whole “Sudan offered us Bin Laden and Clinton turned him down” story, which, needless to say, turns out to be largely bullshit partisan spin. Scroll down to “#4: Audiotape doesn’t lie but ______ does,” for the whole story.

Ralph124, this thread isn’t an attempt to distract us from Richard Clarke’s claim that the Bush Administration was asleep at the switch with regards to the threat posed by Al Qaeda in the months leading up to September 11th, is it?

Is it just me, or is the idea of a Bush-apologist like ralph124 accusing others of lying to be embarassingly hypocritical to the extreme?

I’m kind of surprised that Powell and the gang are saying that they knew about AQ from the get go. I figured they would blame as much as they could on the Clinton admin, and use the “9/11 was a wake up call” line.

On the one hand, if Bush knew about AQ from the first day in office, that makes 9/11 look more like his fuckup. On the other, no one could possibly predict a few nuts flying planes into the WTC.

One other question, what the hell is the difference between a decapitation strike on Osama and one on that Saruman guy?

They’re saying Clinton possibly could have killed him several times, but they weren’t sure on the intel, and they didn’t want to kill innocent people.

I think it’s pretty hypocritical to want to fuck up Osama, but then say we don’t agree with with killing Sheik Ahmed Yassin.

Of course this admin is nothing but hypocritical, so…

Well, at the time, we had no Ents stationed in the Sudan.

Yoo hoo. Ralph?

We know you are there Ralph.

You coming back to respond to these fine dopers responses?

Ralph’s busy starting new threads like Why Do The Inuit/Esquimos Have a Fondness for Rotten Food?

I’ve been listening to the stream of the hearings, and I have to agree that the OP’s filter is far too far to the right. Madeline was very forthcoming and answered all questions quite well, explaining in detail the several times they heard of BinLaden’s location and why they didn’t strike.

Rumsfeld, on the other hand, was repeatedly told to “answer the question I asked” and did his best to divert fault from himself. My favorite (from memory, so probably not exact words) was “It’s not my job to defend America from attacks.” What’s he Secretary of again?

ralph124c is going to be too busy maintaining his position as Our Stupidest Member to come back and bother with this thread, probably.

Oh, and just in case anybody missed Miller’s post above, the thing about “Sudan offered Clinton bin Laden and he passed!” is bullshit. What’s more, it’s been bullshit for a very long time; it isn’t exactly news that the claimed event never actually happened. It’s a little bit less moldy and withered than “54-40 or fight!” but not by much.

(Oh, and carrot, that was hilarious.)

In the interest of returning the U.S. to the values that made this nation great, Mr. Rumsfeld presides over the combined War Department and Navy Department.

Lighten up a bit! “Most stupid poster”?? I think not…methinks you fit the bill quite nicely!
NONE of you actually addressed my main point! Ms. ALLDIM KNEW that OBL had sworn to attack the US and its citizens around the world. The botched cruise missile attack and the blown up aspirin factory in the Sudan were meant for public consumption only.
So her assertion that the administration was watchinh OBL closely is (and was) a complete fabrication. I’d respect her moreif she would have just told the truth!

The only thing is ralph124c that you seem to be the kind of person that wouldn’t know the truth if it came up behind you and shoved a baseball bat up your arse.

If it fits into your political thinking you’ll accept it otherwise you’ll bend it to suit you. There are lots of people like you on both sides BTW so I’m not singling you out.

Do you have any criticisms at all about how the current Admin has handed the situation or is it just the Clinton Admin that you want to go to hell?

yojimbo, Attrayant, Miller, and CyberHippy all directly addressed your main point, and others addressed it obliquely. Perhaps you really are “Our Stupidest Member”.

I’m just all moist with awe at how Ralph can look into ol’ Maddie’s black shriveled heart and see she has not remorse–NONE!–for the people we’ve lost.
