This we don’t need.
Olives4March While I agree that Madonna is a very talented singer and dancer, there’s no denying she’s an attention whore.

And to her credit, she didn’t start as a talented singer - in fact, if you listen to her early singles, she was a pretty bad singer. She worked her way from the thin, shaky voice on “Holiday” into someone who could credibly sing Evita, and she did it after she was already a superstar and probably could have coasted on her fame. She’s definitely ambitious and driven.
Is it just me or does her husband look so very uncomfortable in that picture?
Wouldn’t you?

Abassador of Judaism is such a lofty goal.
She should start lower.

There definitely seems to be some distance there. I’m a big Doors fan, so I rented the Oliver Stone movie several times (yeah I know, the surviving members hated it, and Oliver Stone does not make documentaries), but still. He did capture the feel of the time pretty well. Anyway, there was a trailer for a Madonna movie, and in one scene I think she calls her dad to say she’s in town, and going to perform. And the dad says they’d like to come to a show…whenever she can get tickets.
Yeah, right.
She was raised Catholic, wasn’t she? IIRC, the Roman Catholic version of the OT does have “The Rest of the Book of Esther” in which God is mentioned.
Agreed, totally. She did not initially plan on being a singer, but rather a professional dancer. And from interviews with her former dance instructors, it appears she would have done quite well in professional dance.
Actually he was there in (I think) her performance in Truth or Dare, when she was doing (I think) The Girly Show*. This was when she did Like a Virgin pretending to masturbate on a satin bedspread wearing the infamous Pointy Bra. It was also when she did ‘‘Oh Father.’’ She was pretty nervous about it. They kind of got into a thing afterward, definitely some pretty strong tension. But he was ultimately supportive, just kind of, ‘‘Um, I don’t understand why you had to do the Pointy Bra.’’ She talks a lot in the film about how they have come to a sort of understanding… not really talking about it, but just moving on. It is clear from her music that she understands her father was abusive because it was his way of grieving her mother’s death.
*Might have been Blond Ambition. And the film might have been Bedtime Stories.
