Maybe it’d be a good idea for the court to appoint a lawyer to represent the 16 year old boy’s interests? Guardian ad litem? If for no other reason, I’d think the Judge would want a long conversation with the boy without either parent or their attorneys present.
Let’s get Rocco’s age correct, O.K.? He’s 15. He was born August 11, 2000. Incidentally, I’m not sure which of Madonna’s recent boyfriends we were discussing above. There have been several of them in recent years who are all considerably younger than her. There’s no section in her Wikipedia entry about her personal life, so it’s hard to look up who she’s dated.
My sister-in-law (sister to my husband’s brother’s ex-wife) had a son at 14 and a daughter at 16. She was a strict mom who followed her daughter to and from school every day and beat her if she caught her with a boy. Her daughter was pregnant at 14. It isn’t that rare. Also, growing up I had a neighbor who had 3 kids by 17. She was nuts.

I had a coworker who was one of those separated men who can’t figure out why their wives kicked them out: there isn’t anybody else and they think they’re good providers. It takes any woman not in love with them a few minutes to figure out that their idea of being “a good provider” involves barely being in the house, undermining the wife’s authority with the children, never doing any housework and a combination of the sentences “what’s for dinner?” “hey, bring me another beer” and “let’s get it on” (or variants thereof).
He was stunned for hours when his children asked him if it would be possible to buy some milk and cereal “so we won’t have to go down to the bar for breakfast”, prior to a weekend with Daddy. He played Santa just fine, but he had no idea how to play Dad.
I wonder, quite honestly, if Madonna Louise Ciccone even has anything one could identify as a normal human personality. Her entire life has been spent pursuing fame and public notoriety with a drive that borders on the superhuman. At what point has she even been able to develop aspects of personal attributes deeper than her celebrity persona?

I agree with you generally, but not with this. There’s a person there, but they have different motivations and personal limits than we do. As an example, I heard of a story where Oprah was running to catch a plane when she realized she could buy the airline. She apparently stopped running.
So it’s a person. They still want love, food, shelter, and validation. But they live in a pretty different day-to-day reality.
Replace fame with academic accolades and this also sounds like several Phd’s I know. Many of them do have some semblences of a normal human personality:)
Its very strange. At the age of 16, the child’s opinion would be given heavy weight in family court regarding visitation. If I had to guess, it sounds like she framed it as the father not allowing the son to travel, hence the statement of the father’s family (“no its not that, he just doesn’t wanna”).
The key to that story is that what the judge is actually ordering is that Rocco has to come to New York to deal with the matter in that jurisdiction. The judge did not say that Rocco’s wishes wouldn’t be taken into account - the judge is saying that that needs to be considered in New York, and not in the parallel court case going on in the UK.
Specifically, the story notes that Rocco will have a court-appointed lawyer to represent him in the NY court case. His opinion will be considered.

Been dealt with earlier in the thread, and let’s note that even if Gran gets knocked up on her 14th birthday and Mum on her 14th, Gran is still 29 1/2 (not 28) when Grandchild is born. The only way you’ll make it in under the wire assuming both pregnancies run full term is for one or both of these teen mums to get laid while still 13. I don’t say it’s never happened, but it’s a darned unlikely scenario anywhere in the civilized world and you’re entitled to figure there aren’t two full generations between 51 and 23.
I’m surprised by how many people here have an intimate view of Madonna’s personal life.
If you are marrying someone way younger than you, then you probably don’t care about emotional/mental maturity in a romantic partner which is a bad sign.
If he deigns to show up I’m guessing his lawyer will not be a court appointed attorney. By the time he gets in front of a NY Judge he’ll virtually be 16. That would be an amusing hearing.
I do wonder (1) if he blows off the NY Judges order to go back to Mama if the UK is obligated (somehow) to make him go home and (2) if he ignores the Judges order are there legal repercussions for him (or his dad) if he tries to enter the US in the future?

Madonna was born and grew up in Michigan. No, she’s not British (unless she’s changed her citizenship).
And she’s 57, not 60. Come on, people. Why do you think you know intimate personal details of Madonna’s life when you can’t even get basic facts straight like her age and her citizenship?

I get irritated with the blatant ageism attacks against Madonna. She’s kept herself fit and in shape. She’s writing and performing fresh new music. She’s still one of the best all around entertainers in the business today. She headlined the Superbowl half time special just two years ago.
