I am assuming we are on for the 4th.
I’m guessing so. My plans are busy the rest of the time.
Well if we’re still on for the 4th, next Saturday give me an email and let me know. I really don’t want to go by myself.
I’m going! I’m going! I’m going!!! Just try to keep me away!
Crap! Mrs. Cliffy and I are out. She probably has to work and I’ve got to be home to wait for a repairman. Crap crap crap.

avabeth, I shot you an email on Friday, hope you got it. I’m still planning on going so anyone else that wants to go will have to either email me before Thursday at noon or so or tell Opal before Sat. I will be away from the computer on Friday.
Ok one last time I guess. The park opens at 12 and I think is open until 10. I think we should meet near the park between 11:30 and 12. There is a place that I’ve parked at before that I haven’t had a problem with. If you take I-495 and take exit 15A, which is Central Avenue East, follow that until you just about come to the park, a mile or so, and on the right is a shoping center with a Jerry’s and a CVS. I’ll be behind the Jerry’s, in a grey Escort wagon. The last time for email to me will be around 2-3 tomorrow. You can contanct Opal after that though.
I would just like to interrupt to tell you all how nostalgic this thread is making me. I grew up in the suburb surrounding that Jerry’s and CVS (neither of which were there when I was growing up … it was an overgrown field). I remember “Six Flags” when it was Wild World (used to have a season ticket) and before that when it was a wildlife preserve with elephants 'n stuff. I wish I could join y’all … have a great time.
Ah darn I won’t be able to make it because I am going to the Ren Faire that day. I was so hoping that y’all would go to Six Flags on Sunday instead. I had already previously planned to go to the Ren Faire with a group of friends, and luckily it happened to be the day the dopers were going to the Ren Faire too, do that was a wonderful stroke of luck. But I am still holding out hope that y’all will go to SF on Sunday instead, but it may be too late I guess I have to admit, however, that I have an ulterior motive…I really want TeleTronOne to go to the Ren Faire with me!!!
P.S. I went to Six Flags a couple of weeks ago, and it was SO AWESOME. I rode the Batman and Superman rides three times each. They are so much fun!
You’re in Ireland right? How about we switch places then?
I do know what you mean about places being a field, in Frederick when I was growing up there was all of KMart and the mall on US 40. Then came a couple of other places, then a few years ago there was all of one house on the road. Now that house is a Starbucks. Oh and I remember Wild World too.
My nostalgia does have its limits
Damn, well you’ll come over to do some rides right? Or at least put me up for a few weeks?
So is anyone else coming? Or are we going to just have to have all the fun for you?
Ok as of right now it looks like it’s just me and Edward The Head… if anyone else decides to come, you can send mail to my cell phone by emailing sixflags@fathom.org – this email address will only work this weekend, by the way, so don’t get all excited about the ability to make my phone ring
Unless I hear from anyone, I’m going to assume no one else is coming.
Hey, why don’t we just reschedule RollerDopers[sup]TM[/sup] for another day? Like Sunday 10/12 (I’ve got a commitment 10/11) or either day on the 10/18-19 weekend? I still wanna go rollercoastering, but I’ve more or less stepped in as the organizer of the MAD Ren Faire get-together, so I can’t really back out of that.
C’mon, guys!
I will be out of town the weekend of 10/18-19, and I think Edward The Head said this was the only time he could go.
Well we had FUN. You guys missed out
We rode on every roller coaster except the ones in the kiddie area. We went to the “scary” haunted house thing, but had to leave right away because the fire alarm was going off. At first we all thought it was just part of it, but it wasn’t. So after standing around outside for 10 minutes while they made sure nothing had actually caught fire, we went back through. In our group were The Dorks (two kids probably 12 or 13 years old who really can only be summed up by those words) several fairly anonymous people, and The Hilarious Girl and her boyfriend. The Hilarious Girl (teenager) was afraid from the very first room. She almost wouldn’t walk into the next room. Apparently red paint on the walls and spooky fog just terrified the crap out of her. She screamed and actually begged not to have to go through on occassion. She was either really good at faking it, or she was scared out of her mind.
So of course Edward The Head messed with her the whole time. Heh. He’s evil like that. He’d get right behind her and scream and stuff. Maybe an hour later we were walking around and we saw her, and he went up behind her and screamed again. He’s so mean. It was funny though.
We kept hoping we’d see her again after it was dark, but it didn’t happen.
The Very Scary Train Ride was. um. not very scary. And it played really crappy and poorly edited music way too loud on a really bad sound system. And it was really cold.
We went on the Superman Ride of Steel which Ed assured me was just a slow, relaxing scenic view of the park from way up high. He is a big liar head.
The Batwing broke down just after we got in line, and half the people left. We stayed and when it got up and running we figure we probably saved about 30 minutes over what it would have taken to wait through the line had the thing been running the whole time. We said our fond farewells before the ride took off, just in case we died or something.
The first time we tried to go on Two-Face it was broken down. We came back later and got in line (there practically wasn’t one) and it broke down again. Since there wasn’t much line we did something else and came back to it. Third time’s a charm because we actually got to ride it that time. I was pretty sure we were going to die. We didn’t. It was scary though
We also saw a hypnotist show (amusing, and the people on stage played along well, even if a couple of them did keep forgetting what it was they were supposed to be pretending to believe) and a really bad ‘wild west’ type show. They were both amusing
This is was the first weekend of Fright Fest. This means the park was extra scaaAAAaaAAaaaaary. They had it all decorated scaAAaAaary with terrifying bales of hay and scary Nets Of Evil draped over stuff. OoooOoooooh!
I had a blast You’ll have to take my word for it for a few days, though. Confirmation will come mid-week, I’m sure. I didn’t take a purse with me so I didn’t bring my camera.
