Ok here is what I’m thinking… I want to go SKIING!
This is where I was thinking: Snowshoe Mountain West Virginia. It’s about a 4.5 hour drive from where I am in NoVa.
They’re open until April 11. I was thinking that the first weekend in April a bunch of us could get together and go skiing. It really wouldn’t be that expensive if we got a room together. I called and checked out some prices… for the late season you get free lift tickets with lodging, so it comes out like this:
This is for lodging FRIDAY (4/2) and SATURDAY (4/3) night, skiing on SATURDAY (4/3) and SUNDAY (4/5):
Efficiency - 2-4 people 1 bed, 1 sleeper sofa, full kitchen, fireplace, washer/dryer - 2 people $252 (includes two free lift tickets) ($126/person)
4 people $420 (includes two free plus two paid lift tickets) ($105/person)
short drive to the ski area
2 Bedroom/2 bath at the Mountain Lodge (right at the ski area) - 4-6 people
swimming pool
4 people $451 (includes four free lift tickets) ($112/person)
6 people $619 (includes four free plus two paid lift tickets) ($103/person)
3 Bedroom at The Summit - 6-8 people
6 people $536 (includes six free lift tickets) ($89/person)
8 people $704 (includes six free plus two paid lift tickets) ($88/person)
If some people didn’t ski, it would obviously be a little cheaper.
Lift tickets by themselves are $46/person
Ski/boots/poles rental is $25/day
Anyway, the lady said that they aren’t busy this late in the season so there shouldn’t be much in the way of lift lines. They have gotten 3 inches of snow in the last 24 hours and right now all the trails are open.
There are a zillion restaurants there, and it looks like there is a lot to do at night, too, including a comedy club.
So is anyone interested? I have a van if we wanted to carpool…
