MADs! One (1) ticket for Rush tomorrow night!

Nissan is near Manassas VA along I-66. As for the three tix, none are actaully mine. I have one friend who has two extras in the pit so I was going to take his if I can get rid of my lawn seats. That and another friend has one lawn seat left. I was only asking for $20 for each of my lawn seats. Still got them, e-mail me at ldrbryan@yahoo.com if some one is intersted. But I’ll be leaving at 3:30 pm to get there.

So, how was the show, kids?? We want details!

The Washington Post had generally good things to say about it.

Entertaining. Neil actually smiled (a rare occurance).

Coldfire, I will post a review here, but only if you can handle the spoilers.

Sure, I can handle it!

Wow, they playes stuff off 2112! This is gonna be SO cool!

OK then…SPOILERS BELOW!!!

Once again the show was broken into 2 sets. Songs from all eras were in both sets.

I’ve been seeing Rush since Grace Under Pressure and they played stuff I’ve never heard before.

4 songs from Vapor Trails. I still sort of lament the days when they’d play almost all the new album so as to keep the focus where it should be. But I understand the argument.

They played Between Sun and Moon from Counterparts. A song which had never been part of a tour before. That was a big crowd pleaser.

Natural Science, By-Tor and the Snow Dog, La Villa Strangiato, Working Man, Cygnus X-1…those were the longer old pieces.

Three instrumentals this time…sort of a departure. LVS, YYZ and Leave That Thing Alone!.

The drum solo incorporated parts of ‘Pieces of Eight’ from that flexi-disc Peart did for Modern Drummer magazine.

In all, a great time. Just under 3 hours of music.

And they start bang on time. Don’t be late or you’ll miss a favorite!

Any other questions?

“Don’t be late.”

AS. FUCKING. IF!!!

Cygnus X-1, they really played that?? Yowza!! Could Geddy reach high enough, and scream enough?

Sounds like an excellent show! Thanks for the insight, JC.

Ah, it was Cygnus X-1 as an instrumental. No words to be heard. But it was really cool.

All the standard stuff, too. The Spirit of Radio, Limelight (back again after being away for a while), New World Man.

Big Fun. Much laffs.

And I won’t even get into the dragons.

Dragons, eh? OK, don’t tell. There has to be SOME surprise when I see the show for myself.

I really want to hear your reaction, Coldfire. I almost always take a rookie with me to one of these shows (this time a husband of a really good friend - he’s loves the band but never was a concert type) and I’m always amused by the reactions.

Tag, you’re it, buddy. You’re it.

I’m seeing Rush on Sunday in Philly/Camden. Yeeeeeeeha!

I’m a Rush concert Rookie, of course. But I’ll be bringing my girfriend Heloise, who can be considered even more of a Rush rookie, inasmuch that she’s not the Rush fanatic I am. But maybe she’s a convert!

Just wanted to pop in and note how jealous I am of all you folks. Vapor Trails is probably my favorite album since Presto (although Counterparts is a close runner as well as my last concert), and I really wish I was going. Still, I got to see them on the Hemispheres tour, so I guess Coldie can be jealous of me, as well.

And yes, Geddy sang Cygnus X-1 at that show. In its entirety. Then segued seamlessly into Hemispheres. In its entirety.

I’m still jealous anyway, though. Have fun, folks. You will not be disappointed.

I would have given good money to have been there, Dijon. I love that live CD included with Different Stages. London Hammersmith, 1978… MAN did they rock hard!

Still. It’ll be good to see them in 2002, seeing as it’s my first time and all.

And of course…

“You never forget your first time.”
