Ha! But you need for the thief to get away with it, don’t you?
Was that a confession?
Prof. Pepperwinkle = P, Mahaloth = M, TexCat = T, septimus = s
henchman = h, thief = t, driver = d, urchin = u
Least likely
P - h, M - d, T - t, s - u
The biggest hangup I have with this is that Mahaloth has been dishonest early (#39) and cagey later (#100). Obviously early in the game the driver doesn’t know the alignment of the player before (Prof. P didn’t claim a number of diamonds until #73). However, if Mahaloth received 9 diamonds, saw zero henchmen roles, and took the driver role, he should realize he is on team Godfather. His play style early and later don’t match that.
Not very likely
P - t, M - t, T - d, s - h
P - h, M - t, T - d, s - u
This theory requires TexCat to be the driver and on the same team as Mahaloth. Post #47 clearly points out the non-henchman activity of Mahaloth. That would work against a thief (or non-Godfather) aligned TexCat who should either be helping Mahaloth or redirecting attention.
Somewhat likely
P - t, M - t, T - h, s - d
This theory works well if Prof. Pepperwinkle didn’t take as many diamonds as Plumpudding and then worked to eliminate the competition as a thief Trusty Henchmen (#71). TexCat has been helpful. septimus is noncommital because of taking the driver role so to not put attention on TexCat. This theory fails because it requires a henchman TexCat to lie about passing on no roles to septimus (#65)
More likely
P - t, M - d, T - h, s - u
P - t, M - d, T - t, s - h
Mahaloth is thief Prof. Pepperwinkle’s driver. The number of diamonds Prof. P took is not as important in these scenarios. Mahaloth lies early (#39) because a large number of diamonds are missing with a henchmen role still available meaning Prof. P is probably a thief. Mahaloth acts suspiciously (enough that I don’t think he’s a henchmen or driver of a henchmen) which would draw attention to him and away from Prof. P. With Prof. P’s claim (#73), Mahaloth has his proof of his boss’ alignment.
The alignment of TexCat and septimus is not as known. That will require further reading. I’m leaning toward TexCat’s as henchmen for now based on claim (#82), helpfulness, and most recently pointing out the flaw in septimus’ argument (#101).
Unsure of likelihood
P - h, M - t, T - t, s - d
I really don’t know how to read this combination.
**IRConfused **- any thoughts about this?
Prof. Pepperwinkle - if you think TexCat is the driver, how do you explain the actions of post #47 pointing out the non-henchmen activities of Mahaloth?
I’ll be heading to bed soon. I might have an accusation in the morning but nothing now.
LOL. Just pointing out Septimus’s motivation when he called me the thief.
I think it must be Mahaloth, who was lying for the get-go. If IRC hadn’t removed the FBI card, I’d have thought that he was the Fibbie.
Interesting. I actually considered this possiblity, but couldn’t figure out a motivation for Mahaloth to lie so early one. Hmmmm. Mahaloth claimed that the box had a Henchman and a FBI token. Perhaps he just switched FBI and Driver because he didn’t want you to realize that he took the Driver. [/wild speculation]
Good luck Wolverine!
I don’t think that Mahaloth would have mentioned two roles if there weren’t two left. In that case, it would not make a difference which role he took, the Prof would still have to be a thief. The only question would be if he took less than 7 diamonds.
Starting from my Post #48:
We now know that IRC is a Henchman (and that he tossed the Agent role), and Plum was a Thief. I’m a henchman, which leaves just the Driver. If Mahaloth was the Driver, he’d win when I win, and I win when the Godfather wins, so he’d be less likely to lie as he has been. Ergo, he’s a Thief or Urchin.
Since we know now that someone took the Driver, it must be either TexCat or septimus.
Texcat’s asking what happened to the Driver token in #47 may be her way of removing suspicion from herself. In #55 she says there were only 2 diamonds left when she got the box. There were 9 when I got it, and I took no diamonds. Mahaloth could have taken 7 diamonds, or TexCat could be lying. In #65 she says there were no roles left when she passed the box to septimus, so either she is the Driver or Mahaloth, unless she’s lying.
In #71 I repeated I took no diamonds and claimed to be a Henchman.
In #79 IRC posted:
…and I think that’s the most probable case.
In #82 TexCat claims the Henchman spot, guessing I’m the Driver. In #93 our Godfather says I’m either the Henchman or Thief, but not the Driver. In #103 he states it’s very unlikely for me to be the Henchman and TexCat the Driver, but I still think that’s the case. In any case, I AM the other Henchman.
Which I realized as I thought about it myself. I did lie and now I understand more about who is who and how you will win, I will confess and clarify.
Wolverine: Driver was the only role left in the bag and I took it. Pepper is playing with you and consequently, I win when you win.
so how many diamonds did you pass to TexCat?
Ahh ha!! Mahaloth* is* the Driver! And is protecting Prof. P!
Y’know, Mahaloth’s revelation seems to me to come too late to be believable, even if it might help my case. TexCat’s jumping on that bandwagon worries me as well…
I still think TexCat’s the Driver, and is protecting Mahaloth.
- Yes, 9.
You bet your butt, Texy.
Mahaloth’s claim
P - h, M - d, T - t, s - u
The problem I see is that Mahaloth took too long to claim (#108). I even suggested Mahaloth could be a henchmen driver in #93. But he still avoided my question in #100 which is a mistake if he’s team Godfather. If this is the actual case of events, then he has made a serious miscalculation of how to play the game.
Prof. Pepperwinkle’s claim
P - h, M - t, T - d, s - u
This requires TexCat to be a devious driver. I’m fairly convinced of a lack of relationship between those two so kudos to TexCat if I’m wrong. You would get MVP status.
TexCat’s claim
P - t, M - d, T - h, s - u
This would explain Mahaloth’s play the best. He isn’t stupid and knows that the Godfather loses if I accuse him falsely because I have no rum. Being caught in lies and avoiding answering questions is more of a thief move. Mahaloth is pretending to be a driver but (oops) is actually a thief, but actually is a driver. That’s some deep play there.
Going back one more time has led me to believe Mahaloth is not a driver. A henchmen driver in post #100 would claim Prof. Pepperwinkle as henchman. A thief driver in post #100 would claim Prof. Pepperwinkle as henchman (unless he is doing some deep play inside of play). Mahaloth should be aware of Prof. P’s alignment from Prof. P’s claim of number of diamonds in post #73.
I will accuse **Mahaloth **soon and ask him to empty his pockets.
IRConfused: Do you have any reservations about this?
Bad move, Wolverine. I am the Driver. It was that and 9 diamonds in the bag.
If Mahaloth is the driver, and he did actually pass on the diamonds, then the prof has to be the henchman. That makes TexCat the last thief. I don’t really believe that, and I don’t see how the prof could be the driver. That makes Mahaloth the driver and I would accuse prof. Pepperwinkle of having the diamonds.
Why couldn’t TexCat be the driver?
Why would TexCat accuse the rider. If he is the thief and gets accused, she loses. If he is the driver, she isn’t
I know most people have been sleeping but I was hoping to stir up a little more discussion before making an accusation but the conversation was pretty minimal. I think most people’s stories have been set and are not going to change that much.
Prof. Pepperwinkle, empty your pockets!
This was my stronger inclination anyway but I wanted to see what would happen if I would accuse Mahaloth. The answer is: not much. I could very well be wrong but thief Prof. P, driver Mahaloth, henchman TexCat, and urchin septimus made the most sense.
This has been a fun game, but I feel like I’ve had to work as hard as a normal Mafia game (though in a much shorter time frame). I would love to play this game again, just not repeating as the Godfather. Too stressful.
**Prof. Pepperwinkle reaches into his pocket and produces a Loyal Henchman token. Meanwhile, TexCat takes the 7 diamonds she stole and disappears to somewhere out of reach of the Godfather, accompanied by her Street Urchin apprentice, septimus.
TexCat and septimus are the winners.**
Congrats **TexCat **and septimus!
