[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Vote: Normal Phase

Blue Bow: Normal
Red Bow: Astral
White Scepter: Guiri
Teal Harp: Tanaer

In the hope that I last through today & tomorrow to become a bard.
[OOG The sense of hopelessness I have about that stunningly mirrors how I’m feeling about real life right now. I am so sick of going through the motions in case I’m wrong /OOG]

I bid thee both farewell sweet Bob & Gad
It hurts us all to lose you by such means
You two were both my closest townie leans
I’m cut adrift, a little lost & sad

It seems where’er I turn a brow is raised
It wears me thin to see no trust at all
Ignored continu’lly unless they call
me out to answer something has them phased.

I’m heartened not a whit by gripes that none
of my lynch votes has strength at core
I keep on trying hard to be more forward
only I can’t satisfy them with one.

I wish that cruel assassin had took me
This heartless village is no place to be

Zomo want music! Second only to braaaains.

Teal Harp Glee

Damage do nothing good so far. Overpowered? No.

Vote: Visorslash

Scummy man. Greedy. Eating you soon.

Alright Zombie man, I’ll bite. Why?

What makes a knight specially qualified to use a harp?

Not that anyone is going to vote me anything except a sharp demon claw:(

Ungrateful lumps of lard. I even damage your demon and you just suspect and suspect and suspect.

Totally true. But I think the question was still an interesting one -
the demon seems to kill one person by physical means, another by magical - do these methods indicate anything?

Mosier, if you want music maybe you should give the harp to a trainee bard instead of a knight - he’s just going to play pathetic chords at the foot of some damsel’s tower anyway.

It’s nothing about being a Knight (cue mysterious music…)

I suggest that Lord Phere ‘channels’ the evil people’s abilities as he kills - perhaps there are both evil Soldiers and evil Mages?

You bite? Ha! Zomo biting, not scummy human.

I got teeth too matey.

I am mystified. I did not ask about your element; I told you, as a heads-up, one Townie to another, that your likely elemental alignment might be apparent from the public record. If you want a private dialog on the matter, why not PM me instead of asking me to PM you?

(I have asked other Players about their element … and told them mine. This seems a good way to try to understand the game, especially the Attackings.)

My characterization of our PM exchange is: me looking to share info and strategy; and you using the exchange just to cross-examine me for possible scum motive. I’m quite happy to publish the exchange, if you wish.

Anyway, toDay’s vote looks easy. I’ve had suspicions off-and-on, but yesterDay he declined to use his double-vote to select a Lynchee, preferring to let the triple-voter have control. That is decidedly anti-Town.

Vote: Visorslash

It seemed like you were trying to get me to confirm your guess one way or the other. As someone who’s been attacked a fair amount and frustrated her attackers every time so far, it’s not hard for me to imagine someone who wants to attack me trying something like that in order to make their task easier. Not to mention Weedy had tried the same thing just before she died.

I don’t want you to post the PMs, no; I just want my uneasiness about your approach to me to be public. (Which is why I didn’t bother PMing you first.)

Why? What are you hoping to gain?

As I’ve said, no, but I have no issue with your characterization of our conversation. I don’t understand where you’re coming from with your approach. You say you trust me to be town, but you don’t offer information freely; you want information from me. The people I trust and am interested in talking to, I don’t believe I’ve asked them for anything at all. I just give them my information and they can do what they want with it. Do you see why your approach might bother me?

Yes. Now tell me why it’s scummy.

Okay, something’s screwy with these write-ups, because while I did expect an attack from certain parties who seemed hostile to me–oh, to heck with it, I’ll just say Gadarene and Visorslash–I most certainly didn’t block myself*; I’d arranged for someone else to protect me. Yet as far as I know this someone else doesn’t have “Shadow” as an element. So is it possible some third party protected me, but apparently not very well? And someone else healed me too, for that mattter (for which I’m grateful).

  • In truth, I don’t even have defensive powers, but I do have ex-post-facto healing abilities, and yet I didn’t heal myself either since i was expecting protection! But does the write-up make it look like I was doing so myself? That seems too freaky even for a pizza game. Unless illusions are involved? Do we have a wizard among us?

I performed one action last Night and it was flat-out unsuccessful. This is the first time this power has not been successful, so I’m a bit worried. Also, the return of so many is, on the one hand, good for Town, but on the other, we have no idea if these are benefactors or malefactors.

Sadly Gadarene got the bloodshed he said he’d been expecting; three deaths in one Night is pretty bloody. Although at least one was Wrath of Demon (i.e. a meta death), so it’s not a reflection on Scum. Then again, maybe we have a Vig after all. Maybe someone got bumped up a level to Ninja Assassin or whatever.

Need time to think before I vote. I can’t say I’m against the Visorslash votes, since I suspect he might have been my attacker, but for me it’s way too early in the Day to make any votes one way or another.

Yeah you didn’t ask me, but you pretty much ignore me so I’m answering this anyway.

Anti-town means scummy. Anti-town means, unless I’m mistaken, against town which is a definition of scum. (As opposed to someone who’s just not pro-town. Which is different).

I disagree. Disappearing for days without voting, making actions or votes for unproductive reasons and so on – those things and more could all be called anti-town. But townies will do lots of anti-town things. I’m not disputing that Visorslash’s lack of a vote was anti-town. It was. I want to know why (or even if) Septimus thinks that means he’s scum.

It’s very clear from the write-ups that there are multiple factions or win conditions. An initial post mentions Blue Town, Purple Greedy, Green Adventurers, and Red Traitors. ToeJam reveal showed he was Rogue (but Blue) but “somewhat Neutral”(Green). I certainly haven’t figured any details out, and adopt a simplified model that there are Good Townies, Third Parties (probably with different win-cons), and Very Evil Scum.

We also know, because Gadarene said so, that Townies could be invited to change their win-con. Perhaps Third Parties can also change to a different Third Party win-con, or even become Evil.

A few players have admitted to (or been outed as) Neutral. Fubbles is one, and has been allowed to live because he claims to be playing pro-Town.

If we identify someone who is likely to be Very Evil, I will be happy to vote him, but meanwhile I vote Visorslash. He admitted to being Neutral (which likely means he had a 3rd-Party win-con ), and has been playing very Anti-Town. ( All Townie dead have been “Good”; the only “Neutral” death was of ToeJam the Rogue Thief.)

I think one of the following is the case
[ul][li] 1. Visorslash started with an Evil win-con or anti-Town Neutral win-con.[/li][li] 2. Visorslash started with a Neutral win-con, but accepted a change to Evil (or anti-Town) win-con.[/li][li] 3. Visorslash continues to have a win-con that is not anti-Town, but nevertheless plays in anti-Town fashion.[/li][/ul]
In cases 1 and 2, I’m happy with my Vote. In case 3, I’m not upset about it.

Well, Today’s off to a quick start…I’m not sure I’m entirely comfortable with the pace, though…

I’m quite certain that it does mean something. Most likely the method of attack is meant to give us clues as to who the attackers are, and the same with protections, healing, etc. One thing I have not been paying close attention to is the type of weapons being used; I’ve been keeping track of ‘physical vs. magical’ attacks, but nothing more. Since Pizza specified “giant mace” and “bladed weapon” in this writeup, I think it bears going back over the previous Days to see if the same can be discerned from earlier color.

I agree that we have multiple factions. But I don’t think we can say with confidence that all of the “Good” players that have died were also “Town”. We can *probably *infer that they were not a threat to Town, but I think that it’s entirely possible that some of them were from non-Town factions.

Blue Bow: Lightfoot
Red Bow: Tanaer
White Staff: Silver Jan
White Scepter: Guiri
Teal Harp: Glee

I can confirm now what Gadarene said as I was offered a similar (same?) deal at the end of Yesterday. I didn’t take it either.

Are we talking law alignment or moral alignment?

I think it may make a difference
