[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Or rather that gad is notscum as he could be a third party or PFK.

A perfectly reasonable conclusion. There’s obviously no way I can dispute that.

Just checking.

But isn’t what you did “last-minute shenanigans” too? Suddenly jumping from one candidate who hadn’t a prayer of being lynched to another whom you don’t think is as guilty (apparently)… that’s as, um, shenaningany as someone else changing his or her mind. Isn’t it? Couldn’t it be taken as wanting to be on a bandwagon?

I feel like something similar happened in one of my previous games. Someone thought the Day was ending and did something in a hurry, changing a vote or removing a vote, I don’t remember. And it was kind of a giveaway.

Not waying your behavior is completely fishy, but it just seems like the pot calling the kettle black before the pot could even see what the kettle looked like. If you follow me. (Which would be awesome 'cause I’m not certain I follow me myself.)

Gosh darn it, Inner! Stop beating me to the punch!!! Argh.

My goal was to preserve what town had selected as their lynch. You’ll have to decide for yourself if you think I did that for honest or nefarious reasons.

Pretty sure it was the guy in Dee’En’Dee who made a vote to save himself literally the minute before Day ended. And yes, Astral’s vote is just as vote shenaniganny as what he purported to prevent, at least in my view. If anything it’s worse because his vote and the posts explaining come off to me as trying for townie cred.

Objection. Assumption of facts not in evidence. How do you know Gad is town’s choice for the lynch and not the product of a scum wagon?

I can’t, sadly. But since I thought the day was ending, I could assume it was as close to what town preferred as possible!

Just a quick note. Wow. I did not like that “last min” Vote jumping behavior, Astral.

If you’re town, you should be voting for who you regard as the MOST scummy- your votes are yours and yours alone to be used to track your behavior throughout the game. The way that you’re jumping just back and forth “for the Town’s good” rather than your own- it’s basically trying to wash your hands of a vote there vs. Gad’s lynch if he came up Town. “Oh, well he’s Town, but I didn’t REALLY think he was scummy, I did it to prevent scum from doing something else!”

FOS the not so Good Sir, Astral Rejection!

Inner, Choie and ToeJam, you are all currently voting Gadarene, whose fate Astral thought he was sealing, but question Astral’s intentions. Do you think there’s a connection between them as Normal Phase posited earlier?

If Gadarene is scum I see him as being the outlier in this particular fray and not connected with the other parties. I’ve already mentioned that I’m considering Astral as a vote today. It’s a matter of do I think it’s more likely that Gad is scum or that Astral is attempting a gambit with another scum.

I really don’t know. For me it’s too early to determine possible coalitions. Unfortunately I could see it working either way: If Gadarene is scum, a scum Astral could be bussing his colleague during what seems to be a done-deal already.

If Gadarene is Town and Astral is scum, Astral may want to save Visorslash (yipe, I have no idea if I just got that name wrong, sorry) and so jumps to ensure V’s safety.

If Astral is town… well, it still seems like an odd and not particularly wise move, but it’s certainly possible. Or he could be trying to look as if he’s just made a foolish mistake that any innocent person might make. Except Astral is hardly a newbie, IIRC, and should’ve known how this would look.

Oy. WIFOM all over the place.

I should emphasize that I meant it only seemed like a done-deal to Astral if he really thought there were only eight minutes left in the Day. Obviously it’s not actually a done deal, with just about 24 hours left and votes are hardly set in stone.

Yeah, WIFOM, now I’m wondering if the mistake makes him look less scummy.

When I’m town, I will always do what I think is best for town, regardless of how it looks, even if that means putting myself in danger of being lynched. In past games I’ve done some very dodgy things that I believe are in the town’s interest, including outright lying to town over and over again (in Silver Jan’s most recent game). Odds are about half for any particular player getting lynched, and if I get lynched early, so be it. Hopefully I’ve done some good for my team. For whatever reason, I also seem to get nightkilled by third-parties an unusually high percentage of the time, too. That’s a long and fancy way of saying I’ve learned not to worry overly much about how my actions will be interpreted, as long as I believe I’m doing the right thing for town.

Of course, all that being said, you have to decide how much you believe me in this game.

Which do you think would be more in Town’s interest: voting for someone to prevent shenanigans OR allowing the shenanigans to take place and letting town deal with the involved parties? Do you even think Gadarene is scum?

It’s fairly obvious that, in this game specifically, it’s in no-one’s interests to not vote in Day 1. By not voting, you confirm that you will not level up Today. Voting, of course, doesn’t mean you will level up, as there is another condition and the fulfillment (or not) of that condition is not public. But by not voting you confirm you didn’t level up.

I believe I mentioned there was something on at PAX East I wanted to follow. Unfortunately it was at second-hand. Still, it’s done now so I can turn my attention back to the game.

I have to say that I am suspicious of AR’s vote switch at a time when he thought Day was ending. If Gadarene is in fact Mafia and Visorslash not, someone might have tried a last-minute switch. Of course, that someone might be a deluded Townie. However, it smells.

I’m thinking of voting AR, but want to take some time to ensure I’m not influenced by the fact he is voting me. I also want to investigate some of the voters on what seems to me to be two bandwagons for poor reasons.

I have to admit ** AR’s ** last minute ( as far as he claims) action sets off all kinds of alarms

On the other foot He KNEW he’d have to answer for it one way or the other so I’m on a fence right now.

Is Astral Rejection the poster formerly known as Pedescribe or does he just share a philosophical outlook on mafia playing with Pede?

(I can’t believe I don’t know the answer to this question)
