[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Nearly. I want the best - True Resurrection. (Resurrection can be managed by a mere 13th level cleric.)

But doesn’t “Raise Dead” just create zombies? You’re not going to get the person back, just their animated corpse. Or do I misremember? (Source: Xykon’s army of the dead including his flying dragon, and Tsukiko’s dead fetish, both in Order of the Stick.)

Raise Dead brings the dead person back to life. There are a series of reanimation spells to create undead.

MHaye, what are your feelings on the state of the game right now? Mehta do you think of the votes as they currently stand? Are there any players you feel are more or less likely to be scum?

“Mehta” should be “what.” Good old iPad!

Ah! Create Undead, yes, thanks, now I remember. Sorry. My mind does tend to bleep over the D&D mechanics in OOTS, although I’ve picked up some things merely by accidental absorption.

My bad. For those who are curious True Resurrection doesn’t need a corporeal body at all. Pretty nifty.

As Mhaye, said, those are different spells, specifically the Animate and Create Undead school of magic. They’re also evil necromantic spells as opposed to Raise Dead and Resurrection which are morally ambivalent healing spells.

None of this is really relevant though, as I doubt ATPG went that deep into a gameplay system he’s not that versed in.

Heh. I was wondering how Zubin Mehta got involved in this. Anyway, thanks for the hints re: D&D. It’s all clear as mud now!

I’m kind of surprised at the numbers in the vote tally. It’s interesting if sort of inevitable that people aim most quickly at a newbie with an abrasive style. That’s almost an echo of my first game, where said abrasive style was owned by none other than askthepizzaguy Himself. Not saying you’re wrong – I went after ATPG too because his style grated – but I’m not sure it’s the right strategy. Remember, it takes an irritant to create a pearl.

OTOH, sometimes an irritant just festers and causes gangrene. So, what am I saying? That, yeah, I have no clue.

Possibly the vote tally ( did somone say Mosier’s didn’t count?)

5 Gadarene: Naf(90,91) Ro0sh (120) Choie (152) InnerStickler (197) Visorslash (236)

5 Visorslash Silver Jan (95) Mosier (117) Mahaloth (124) septimus (132) PetW (188)

2 Mosier: Normal Phase (#63,65) Lightfoot (237)

2 Astral Rejection: Guiri (#57) Gadarene (83)

1 septimus : Weedy (184)

1 Silver Jan: GnarlyCharlie (176)

borrowed/reformatted/reordered- for my own sanity

I’m doing a reread right now. I paused for a few minutes at post 150.

I don’t like the early wagons on either Visorslash or Gadarene. Visor because I think he’s collecting votes because he hasn’t played here before, and Gad for a vote that had good reasons; he failed to explain the reasons at the time. So I’m looking for other candidates.

That being said, I may be willing to vote for one of the lynch leaders, if I form an opinion that one is more likely to be anti-Town than the other. (Playstyle won’t figure in this.)

Thanks, [del]jerk[/del] buddy.

I’d have thought you knew me better than that.

I’m a conservative type of player. I prefer to check and cross-check before placing a vote. I had not had time to form an opinion about the votes, and was not going to post on the subject without further consideration.

My knee-jerk reactions are known to be poor (ask Zeriel about the time he went from zero votes to dead in less than an hour.) So I don’t indulge in them.

Vote count.

Day ends in 8 minutes. Why did you fail to place a vote or weigh in on anything during the course of the Day?

Unvote.

Vote Gadarene.

MHaye is still my #1 suspicion. This vote for Gadarene represents an effort to prevent any last-minute vote shenanigans.

8 (now 6) minutes and 24 hours, no?

… yes. I even went back and re-read that section. Sunday, not Saturday.

My apologies.

In that case, back to MHaye!

Unvote.

Vote MHaye.

This seems weird. Last minute shenanigans like what?

I thought the day was ending, and Gadarene had a single vote lead. If anyone unvoted Gad and voted, say, Visorslash, that would be “last minute shenanigans.”

By pulling my 1-off for MHaye, I made that harder to achieve.

Of course if you’re scum and know gad is town then you get to further solidify a mislynch while looking like you just care so much.
