[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

lol Septimus, that looks so scummy. The scum need an object and you’re asking us to reveal ours. When nobody except scum would even know whether it was the one in question, as far as we know. (And evil third parties who according to them aren’t scum).

But as it happens my objects are already a matter of public record: a broadsword, the ring that hurt Phere with fire, the bracer that was voted to me.

[didn’t everyone start the game with one magic item? if so i wave my ring around in defence. If not - sorry, I didn’t know. I was an ordinary fighter :)]

By “life of me,” do you mean your actual oxygen-breathing existence, or your survival as a character in the Realm of Phere? In the former case I hope you would have taken the trouble to have Googled “definition: circumstantial evidence.”

I agree that all three of you being Scum has been a concern (and an argument for Lynching you toDay instead of hunting for your non-resurrected partner). I’m ignoring that possibility for several reasons: (1) your team might have claimed victory already; (2) the game mechanics would seem broken; (3) your team would deserve victory and acting awards.

Septimus, re the death reveals, my memory was that the only really definite good adventurers were the white knights.

Please try to calm down. I know Pizza told us to guess, and I’m probably the wrong person to tell you this, but you’re having brain explosions everywhere and plastering me with brain scum. [There, he says, I knew she was scummy, it’s all over her!] If you succeed in getting this Tanaer wagon going, you’re probably going to be really disappointed with the final result. And I only say probably because (a) you might be the kind of person who is glad they followed their hunch, even to their doom, or (b) you’re scum and you’ve succeeded.

Choie, your PetW walking among us theory is haunting me. I wish I could think of something to do with it.

I had a bit of a look back over Storyteller, and in light of probably scum, it’s easy to build confirming evidence  Unfortunately it does do heaps to clear or condemn others - except to confirm their death reveals, especially Normal.

There are a couple of altercations with Choie that to my inexperienced eyes look unlikely to be scum cover - she comes closest to a clear from that peruse.

I had another thought - I don’t have time to follow this up just now, but perhaps someone will be inspired to do so while I sleep… There have been an awful lot of non-town night kills, even evil. And there’s the (mostly?) Phere one magic, one physical kill thing. If one sort of kill was to be shown to often be targeting town’s suspects - it might imply that a powerful object was in the grip of a townie. One that can control one aspect of Phere, and one the evil ones desire.

One further note… In the write-up, the king used the word “they” in a sense that made it unclear whether he was talking scum or death coverups… to me.

Bedtime. Happy hunting.

So, if I’m reading you correctly, you think “playing the game” is circumstantial evidence of scummyness?

This is like when Normal Phase said that me defending myself was evidence of my scummyness.

Let’s talk about the resurrections, by the way. Assuming Guiri, Gad, and I are all scum buddies, doesn’t that mean there’s a fourth player doing the resurrection? So, assuming the 3-voter is scum, scum would currently have 8 votes to town’s 5. Game over.

So… Isn’t that unlikely to be the case? And if that’s not the case, that means the resurrecter is town. And if the resurrecter is town, the power is most likely pro-town. And assuming that, it’s unlikely that any of the resurrections somehow became evil. Especially when town appears to have no way to check that.

It is very difficult for me to accept the idea that a dead townie who was raised must perforce still be town.

What about 3 dead townies? Are we all scum (game would be over), no scum, or a mix? And if we’re a mix, how would game mechanics support that? That’s somewhat the equivalent of a randomly-paranoid investigator.

I have yet to hear anyone postulate how some of us could be scum, just that we might. That’s great, paranoia is key in this game. But it seems to me to be extremely unlikely.

I agree that it seems to be completely game-breaking.

Yet here we are.

@ Inner, even Mosier, who was raised by Lord Phere, died as Good, returned as Good, and died a second time with the same alignment.

I suspect all three of us were raised with the same law, moral and game alignment as when we died, just missing 50% hp, however since then any of us could have become neutral or even evil, well Astral at least.

I’m feeling particularly SisterCoyoteish at the moment. Right now, I see no reason to take Mosier’s reveal as indicative of anything other than Mosier’s alignment. I simply don’t see how there can be a role that can create an open-ended mason pool one at a time without there being a major counterweight. I also note that ATPG has said nothing, this is all guesses made by players who could have their own motivations for various ideas being accepted. And why hasn’t scum attempted to remove you three in the night? It boggles my mind that a scum team is ok moving into endgame with a defacto mason group standing. Are they searching for the rezzer? Are they looking for an object? That makes the game even more unbalanced in favor of town. It all seems untenable from all sides.

Oh the “why are you still alive?” question, I love it…

My pet theory is that we don’t count against the scum wincon.

It’s a valid question. I know you have personal issues with it, but by this point in the game, scum should be looking to remove as many confirmed town as possible and if they aren’t, that’s worth thinking about.

But we’re not confirmed town: we know there’s a power to change reveal info (see weedy), and players can voluntarily shift their alignment and wincon. There’s an affinity between us, sure. I know that I returned with exactly the same role and alignment as when I was killed so I’m willing to believe that the same applies to the others. You have no reason to believe that and your reluctance is to be expected.

I think some players are treating you that way and if you all are town anyway, the difference between confirmed town and assumed to be confirmed town is largely academic.

Has anyone claimed resurrecting anyone?
** Silver Jan ** hinted at knowing who one of the players was that could resurrect players.
I got the impression that ** SJ, Choie and Normal ** were quite chatty in PMs .

** choie ** do you know who ?

** SilverJan ** this late in the game you should reveal your source- if they are dead they will not see another Day anyway. Since we’ve soft cleared atleast one of back from the dead players it may give us more information?

Come to think of it, you’ve been pretty cool all game about your character ( you liked it so much you didn’t want to change it) and the actions that you are not willing to share…… I wonder on this last Day if it would be helpful for you to out with it ?

You’ll probably have to wait… I think it’s night where Jan is.

Have you claimed your power yet, LightFoot?

my power?
I started as a ninja. I shared my investigations (I could watch)
I was enticed into becoming a rogue (I missunderstood? pizza that it was a level up from Ninja- I didn’t see it that way- all I could do was steal items/gold at night)

I then became a soldier= the only path I had to return to ninja
I’m a ninja again but will probably not be able to watch anyone this Night- since we will be done
