[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Wow, thank you. You call me incisive just as I called myself dumb. Methinks the truth lies somewhere in the (lower) middle.

Very true. Worth noting though, I figure. Any discrepencies in established patterns are noteworthy, especially in a game that appears to be highly organized. Or maybe it’s so chaotic it seems organized. Oy I need some sleep.

Time is running out for night actions. Please send them in by 5:00 PM today.

I would like to see Gadarene and Septimus kick the bucket.

Perferably both at the same time. Gadarene for the goodbye post and for the vote saving, and Septimus for his horrible reasoning, etc.

I didn’t think I was missing that much. The dreaded chemo starts in a hour and we have been spending a lot of time with family. It’s not an excuse just an explanation.

I know I voted for** Visor ** Day1 but I didn’t attack or defend anyone, I’m with** Weedy** and** LightFoot** on this. I didn’t feel confidant enough about anyone to do anything. To attack someone with only D1 knowledge seems like a scummy thing to do but as we don’t know who attacked whom it doesn’t seem to help us much. I find the reasons for people protecting other people rather interesting though, I would have thought scum would also protect each other but maybe they wouldn’t if they were too busy attacking others.

This cracks me up. Uh, would you mayhap care to elaborate on “his horrible reasoning, etc.”? Because that “etc.” as if we’re supposed to divine just whatever the heck it is you mean, is just as “horrible reasoning” as anything septimus has said.

Damn. I might just vote for you for making me defend septimus.

OOG: Welcome back, Silver Jan, and best of luck and strength to you and your husband.

Thanks Choie, I will be back later today and I’ll let you know how it goes

Based on the information available to me, Day attacks seemed non-fatal and therefore Day protections too so I didn’t consider protection to be a risky activity. The protection mechanism I used lends itself to protecting others, not self-protection so that was not an option open to me. Inner was one of the most active players during the Day and I had a Townie read on him. I used the role as I’d have used a Doc role in any normal game of mafia. Obviously I’d no idea that it would be so transparent

It looks like only successful protectors get mentioned in the dusk color otherwise it would be an amazing coincidence that the only three protections happened to be on players who were attacked (before the mod rectification). I suspect there were a lot more players busy yesterDay than what is shown in the color.

Let’s take a look at Visorslash’s 17 posts in this game so far. For some reason he goes after septimus’s “horrible reasoning, etc.”

So let’s see Visorslash’s highly respectable record:

====================================

#1 and #2: Posts 37 and 70: Votes for “Renata” (Normal Phase) for no given reason. (The duplicate is because he didn’t color his first post blue.)

#3: Post 75: Attacks askthepizzaguy, presumably meaning Lord Phere, and ignoring the rule about attacks being made only by PM.

#4: Post 102: Unvotes Normal Phase and votes Weedy admitting this is an OMGUS vote.

#5 and #6: Post 103 and 105 - Joke posts aimed at Normal Phase

#7 - #11: Post 108, Post 111, Post 168, Post 170, and Post 194 - all defending his OMGUS vote and terse one-liners defending his ‘antagonistic’ (as PetW called it) style of play

#12: Post 236 - Unvotes Weedy and votes Gadarene to save himself

#13: Post #558 - Welcomes himself back and boasts on attacking “Lord Shitforbrains”

#14: Post 560 - Brushes off Weedy’s suggestion to seek the traitor rather than directly attacking Phere, saying only “No, it’s fun.” Also thanks Inner for protecting him.

#15: Post 566 - Suggests we all attack Phere; claims he’ll be back later with “thoughts on the round”

#16: Post 573 - Again suggests we attack Phere simultaneously.

#17: Post 683 - Wants Gadarene and septimus killed because of G’s vote-saving and septimus’s horrible reasoning “etc.”

====================================

Yep. Lots of well-reasoned posts in this lot. The only reasonable vote you made was against Gadarene (and that’s because it’s only natural to try to save yourself) and perhaps the suggestions to attack Phere; I may disagree with that plan but it’s at least a feasible suggestion.

So are you planning on contributing those thoughts on the round you mentioned earlier, or just some more one-liners boasting of your badass, in-your-face playstyle, taunting Normal Phase, and generally not doing any scum-hunting whatsoever?

As Inner Stickler basically said after he risked his neck for you: Earn this! The demon (or someone) seems to be against you. Be worthy of Inner’s sacrifice and start helping Town… if you are Town.

(Sorry for the long post, guys, but I have to admit a particular antipathy toward this type of player. They’re only interested in making things “fun” for themselves, and to hell with the rest of the folks in the game.)

Yay! Guiri’s back! Thanks for the info on how you viewed protection and how/why you applied it.

One tiny thing though:

I’m guessing you don’t mean successful protectors, really, because Inner’s attempt to protect Visorslash wasn’t successful, but we learned about it notwithstanding. Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that only protectors whose targets were actually potential victims of attacks were mentioned in the color?

(I know that’s a super-minor nitpick but I think it might be an important distinction.)

Yeah, that sounds more accurate. The question remains about Bob’s protection of Glee and whether that information is purely a result of the error in the write up or revealed by design.

Boo fucking hoo. Cry me a river.

I voted renata as a joke. I attacked ATPG as a joke. I see nothing wrong with an OMGUS. Considering I came from a different board, to judge me by your standards may not yield the results you are hoping for. I don’t need Normal Phase to defend me, and I don’t care if she does or doesn’t. I don’t feel indebted to her because she tried to, that was her decision and not one I asked her to do nor needed.

Self survival is a null tell, yes. The rest of the posts aren’t really worth going through.

And you make this post about my style of play after going though one day phase with me in one game. I think Septimus’s vote on me was scummy. It was a ‘placeholder’ vote that IIRC wasn’t removed, the wording in it sounded off to me and Gadarene’s recent posts just smell like scum, combined with the vote change to save him from the lynch.

IF that isn’t enough for you after Day One then go ahead and lynch me. I should be already dead because a lot of you think I’m an asshole.

That’s for sure.

If you want Town to win this game, instead of just getting your rocks off on playing the role of Johnny Rebel, Asshat at Large, you’ll start being more productive instead of a pain in the pedeshva.

If you don’t want Town to win, I hope next time Inner saves his energy for someone worth it.

I meant they’re not worth going for because they’re self explanatory.

Go lynch me for it, I don’t care. I play the way I play. And you snidely insulting me isn’t going to change that.

My reading of my Guard ability is that I can’t defend myself.

You know, I’m interested that in all this focus (including by myself) on Gadarene for the vote save, Astral has almost been forgotten. Yet the save, if it was done for someone’s benefit, could just as well have been done for Astral’s as for Gadarene’s.

Did you forget that, Visor?

For myself I’m a bit surprised at the reactions to the protections. Maybe I shouldn’t be – scum protecting each other is as reasonable a thing to do as anything, I’d guess – but I am. It just wasn’t remotely how I was thinking about my day options myself.

At least scum seem very unlikely to protect other scum going forward.

Like glee said.

And what do you think about Septimus, choie? Or gadarene, for that matter?

True. Though there isn’t as much damage for second place, and even that was halved. (IIRC).

I’d think it’d be worth a look into both of them, for sure.

Though Gad’s reactions, especially to your questioning just don’t have a town feel to them.
