[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Vote Emerald Ring to ToeJam
Vote Blue Pendant to BobARRG
Vote Sapphire Ring to BobARRG
 Just because, I’m curious to see what it’ll do for **Bob **if anything.

This post doesn’t sit well with me at all. What a fantastic way for scum to slip by unnoticed. No, I do not like this idea one little bit. If the vote leader is only leading by one vote and then everyone changes their vote that particular person, what info do we get the next Day. All the excuses would be “well we agreed to do it”.

Vote PetW

I could never vote for anyone I thought was Town, it just goes against the grain.

ToeJam, do you mind repeating that vote in blue? I know it’s not needed, but most of us on this board are so used to it I could see even Septimus missing it. And I’d kind of like to see his reasoning on why everyone on the list is coming off townie to him, myself.

That’s a lot of votes on PetW for this early in the day and I don’t want MHaye to think I don’t like him anymore.

unvote, vote MHaye

That’s the reason for the original tally. The whole point is just to prevent the scum from changing the lynch leader after voting is completed. Everyone is still held accountable for tbeir original votes.

I must disagree with you, what happens if someone genuinely wanted to change their vote. You are also assuming that everyone is able to be around at EOD, which I hardly ever am. This just sounds very manipulative. Scum could also claim Town cred if the lynchee was scum.

My thought was we could have a deadline before the real deadline. But it may be too difficult to organize. I’m just worried that scum could add 3 last minut invisible votes, but maybe that’s not what’s really going on.

I voted before I got to the end of the posts lol, I often do that and perhaps I should stop, wasn’t mine the 3rd vote?

That’s not why Normal is voting for MHaye.

If it is scum doing the invisible voting, and I ass/u/me it is, then they could just pile them on to the lynch leader and take credit either way.

Actually, as I said earlier, it might not just be scum doing invisible voting because there was an extra vote on** Gad**. Back to my usual confused state  Why would scum split invisible votes?

I think I have to FOS Astral for his strange vote when he thought it was EOD and for the invisible votes skipping him and going onto** Mosier** who was 3rd in line for the lynch.

I’ve lost you. I meant that my vote on** PetW** is/was the 3rd vote.

GAME ANNOUNCEMENT
9. These rules may be amended at any time to include something I overlooked. Should they be amended, I will announce it publicly, and in big fat letters.
I am amending the rules. In big fat letters.

It is a minor mechanics change.

Although actions you take will have a cumulative effect on your law/moral alignment, I have carefully considered the matter, and I will extend the ability to affect your alignment beyond day/night actions.

If you demonstrate through your words and decisions that you’re more lawful or chaotic than your role would indicate, and show it to me, I may award a point in a given direction, provided that this play is sustained, not a one-off post.

This will make it slightly easier for folks to affect their alignment, while rewarding roleplay, without forcing them to take actions they disagree with.

These points are awarded at **MY **discretion. Prove to me you’ve earned them in private. If you have not, I’ll say why.

I’m reasonable. This isn’t black and white, it’s somewhat grey, but it’s a bonus award for in-character actions and roleplay which you do not need to advance your character or win the game, and it makes things easier on you, so don’t be all rules-lawyery on me regarding this. My judgment is final! My word is Law! Etc.

I like it, Pizza.

I agree absolutely Pizza

You’re really a control freak, aren’t you?

vote emerald ring to choie

Only because it was my mom’s birthstone. Honestly the jewels don’t interest me without knowing what they’re for, and since the elemental stuff is so far over my head it might as well be Alpha Centauri, I’m ignoring it for now.

What does interest me is how many lurkers, or near-lurkers, we have. Here’s a list (as of this posting) of those with under ten posts (in a game with nearly 1000, that’s awfully significant). This doesn’t necessarily indicate guilt, of course, since they could just be shy or intimidated. Or busy in real life. But they could also be trying to fly under the radar:

Scathach 9 - this one surprises me, because I remember Scathach as being more chatty in our last game.

realitytrip 7 - newcomer, so silence is understandable.

Tanaer 3 - three posts in the whole game?! That’s not just newbieness, that’s positively social phobia. Or guilt.

Bumbershoot 2 - more understandable since he’s a substitute IIRC (for Drain Bead). Still, get in and get chatting, sir (or ma’am)!

lilflower 2 - though she’s new to the SDMB, she’s not new to Mafia games, as she mentioned she’s got a different screenname on the forum where she usually plays. So why only 2 posts?

Mahaloth 2 - of all the silent players, this one strikes me as the oddest. He knows his way around and isn’t shy about talking. As with everyone, it could just be real life encroaching on his time, but otherwise… what the hell, dude? Are we so boring to you that you can’t join in and mix things up a little?

storyteller0910 1 - I don’t know storyteller0910* enough to know whether this is typical behavior. Anyone who’s played with him/her before, is this typical?

 • What, were there really 909 other storytellers on the SDMB that s/he had to add the numbers at the end? Some part of me always wants to vote for anyone with screennames that are hard to type!

Red Skeezix 1 - Unlike others I don’t remember Skeezix being a silent lurker type, but I think I’ve only played with him once, when he was Scum, and he was in the curious position of bussing Godfather (septimus at the time). Then, IIRC, he was under constant attack and made an error in posting that kinda gave away his evilitude. Maybe that’s why he’s silent now… doesn’t want to screw up again. Or, as stated, real life got in the way.

I’m not saying “lynch the lurkers” – I’m just saying that y’all should speak up and participate, because a) it gives us more to work with, and more info is always better, and b) it’s more fun for you to join in, even if you’re briefly accused (Gadarene’s slow decline into hysterical madness notwithstanding).

Heh.

And yes, I’m concerned by all of the lurkers as well.

It actually makes me uncomfortable that any particular thing is left up to a host’s judgment call, rather than a clear, pre-written game design element which I will never have to look at and wonder if I made the right call. In general I want to avoid such situations like the plague, I don’t desire them at all. However, this game is the Category Seven Experimental Mad Scientist game, wherein I am stretching myself and my hosting decisions and my ability to balance, to the limit. I am taking risks with being blamed for any outcome regardless, because the setup is mine. I’ll take all the criticism I get. However, I feel confident that any call I make on this matter would be considered fair by most, or at least not game-breaking, by all. Fingers crossed.

Dear mod: I think my posts in the game thread have qualified me for a “chaotic” alignment.

Love,

Astral Rejection

(:D)

I keep forgetting that Mad Scientist thing and trying to be all logical and stuff. I’m scared now.

Drain Bead’s replacement is actually Believerer, my friend from another forum. I imagine he’ll be along sooner or later. I don’t know who Bumbershoot is.
