I have been operating under the assumption that the cultist are semi confirmed as ‘real’ because of a bit of colour that named them. there is a semi remembered bit from that colour that I need to revisit- But I can’t remember where it is.
does anyone remember the phase it was posted?
I agree with this.
Yes. Which is why they should be claiming earlier rather than later. Or they risk being killed by Scum so they cannot verify each other–which means we’ll be forced to lynch them. And increasing our lynch burden that way makes it that much easier for Scum to win.
Being suspicious is a Towny tell. I tend to be more suspicious of players who are not suspicious of me.
Speak for yourself.
You know, this articulates something that was bothering me as well. Add to that paulwhoisaghost’s post D4.131, which feels like a “let’s you and them fight”, and I’m ready to vote.

unvote
vote Prof. Pepperwinkle for explicitly advocating a pro-Scum tactic in D3.339.
vote paulwhoisaghost for scummy intentions in D4.20 and D4.131.
vote Boozahol Squid for advocating a deliberate mislynch in D3.499.
vote sinjin for smudging counter-claimable Town in D3.432.
vote Scathach for scolding a player for being too helpful to Town in D1.35.
vote Johnny Bravo for being too defensive and misrepresenting another’s case in D1.265.
vote Plumpudding for refusing to vote when called on it in D1.401.
While Prof Pepperwinkle is the most suspicious, note that I will move my vote to any of the above if it facilitates their lynch (either first or second).

You could argue that the Wolves wanted the last image of Townie Angel to be was how sure she was of Prof being Town. The problem with that logic is that there was no way for them to know that Angel wouldn’t flip Mafia. If she does, how many people are coming in right now and beating the drum hard to lynch Prof since he’s clearly Mafia now? A lot. Too risky a plan I think.
Are you suggesting wolves did not kill her?
*Vote!! Vote now!! Vote for him!
Yes, I mean THAT guy!!
Get your vote in today! Don’t let him get away!*

I think Angel ‘won’ the free ad - but since they had no additional information I am not certain we need to think too much about who “THAT guy” is. but it is still curious puzzle to think on in calmer moments.

This post makes me really want to Lynch you. But as I type that out, I recall there being a guy in the handful of games that I watched or played in during the last few years who I really, really felt was screaming scum, but wasn’t. Was that you? I think it might have been you. Still makes me want to Lynch you though.
[snip]
Yep, that’s me. As a matter of fact, you’ve actually defended me in past games because you realized that I seem scummy to you when I’m Town.

Being suspicious is a Towny tell. I tend to be more suspicious of players who are not suspicious of me.
Not in this game. You seem to be disregarding that scum are hunting each other as well. If this was a standard game, I would agree, but it’s not.
But let’s say that it was a town tell. You response makes no sense. I asked for you to comment on Lakai’s vote for Hooker. Your response is that suspicion is a town tell and that you are more suspicious of people not suspicious of you. After Thingfish and JSGoddess flipped wolf, Lakai seems to think that makes anyone else suspicious of you likely scum. But Lakai doesn’t seem to think you are suspicious at all. So if your stance is that you are more suspicious of people that aren’t suspicious of you, then shouldn’t you be suspicious of Lakai? And if being suspicious is a town tell, then shouldn’t you be even more suspicious of Lakai for hunting people that are suspicious of you?
I really don’t understand your response and think it’s weird that you reduce my question to “you and them fight”. I found it odd that you didn’t comment on a situation you are clearly involved in, so I asked. I think your response indicates that you really don’t understand what is going on with Lakai, and misinterpreted the situation. At least it looks that way, but that could be the point. I don’t care who you fight with, but when we are down 12-2, you better be fighting with someone.

Hey, Paul!
Regarding the vote count on D1 on the vote leaders and how it transpired during the day.
Warning: it’s long.
OSMafia Day 1 Complete Vote Record [all times EST]
01-07
Post 029 [8:30 pm] – TexCat voted for Normal Phase. “Oh heck, this is as good a starting vote as any” then when asked by jsgoddess why, said in 031 “thought it was obvious. For editing. Not because I think that Normal was necessarily hiding something with the edit, but it sets a bad precedent. I don’t approve of editing.”
Post 036 [10:07 pm] – Johnny Bravo voted for Normal Phase. “The silly edits were just that. Silly. But calling somebody scummy for ignoring your obvious night 0 silliness is suspect as hell.”
Post 037 [10:11 pm] – snfaulkner voted for Angel. A poke vote.
Post 041 [10:36 pm] – Meeko voted for Johnny Bravo. “At the risk of snuggling with Phase… The entire “Scum Tells Don’t Exist” line of thinking, and a fluffier than fluff vote… Pings. … Perhaps one or the other would give you a pass, but both together, and yeah I’m good putting in an early day 1 vote.”
01-08
Post 057 [12:01 am] – Captain Klutz voted for ToeJam. ToeJam had asked if there were Scum boards, and the Captain thought this was TJ attempting to hide his scumminess.
Post 085 [3:07 am] – septimus voted for Pleonast for a post of Pleo’s that septimus thought “weird” and might be alerting Scum to possible countermeasures.
Post 091 [8:40 am] – TexCat unvoted Normal Phase, voted Colby. She thought she had caught him in a slip by his saying “the other team”. “It sure sounds like he’s on one of the scum teams to me.”
Post 094 [9:10 am] – Drain Bead voted Meeko. Meeko’s exchange with Johnny Bravo struck DB as suspicious for both of them.
Post 097 [9:49 am] – AngeloftheNorth voted Drain Bead. “The sum of his posts indicate busyness to me rather than sincerity.”
Post 101 [10:17 am] – Guiri voted Colby, saying TexCat’s read on him was “a good catch”.
Post 102 [10:19 am] – Normal Phase voted Boozahol for two earlier posts. “The first one was a very slight ping along the lines of what snfaulkner and ThingFish pointed out – self-consciously grouping oneself with town. The second quote morphed from defense against the accusation (‘don’t we all present ourselves as town?’) into some kind of weird promotion of information-gathering – which he wasn’t even doing – as a pro-town tactic, and manages to drive the “look how townie I’m being” ping up several notches.”
Post 106 [10:38 am] – septimus unvoted Pleonast, voted Colby. Jumping on the bandwagon.
Post 113 [11:19 am] – Sunny Daze voted ToeJam for an “overly sensitive proclamation of innocence” on Day 0.
Post 130 [1:31 pm] – Meeko unvoted Johnny Bravo, voted Colby. Bandwagon vote.
Post 132 [1:42 pm] – ToeJam voted Colby. Bandwagon vote.

This post hits every alarm bell around.” And “If I see one more person say slip up is better than policy vote or poke vote or random vote when there are other options on the board I might lose my mind.”
EoD vote leaders: Colby 5/ToeJam 3/Angel 1/ Lakai 0

Post 183 [9:33 pm] Chronos voted jsgoddess.
“In post 444 of Night 0, jsgoddess says that she thinks that we should be discussing how Town roles should play, since conversation in general is good, and power-roles are free to disregard the advice anyway. But it occurred to me that I hadn’t noticed her doing much of that discussion herself, and so I searched up all of her posts in the two threads. Confirmed: She never actually discusses anything about what any of the Town roles should do. Not only that, but she posts an awful lot of fluff, and of the non-fluff posts she’s made, most of them seem to be expressing the most non-contentious side of whatever topic she’s on, even though she herself suggested one non-fluff topic of conversation. I think that she’s trying to get everyone else to talk more as cover (because we really do tend to lynch the loud, even though we shouldn’t), while laying low herself.”
Post 184 [9:49 pm] Hooker voted ToeJam for posting “way too snugly and inoffensive”.
EoD vote leaders: Colby 8/ToeJam 4/Angel 0/ Lakai 0

It’d been bugging me for a while, but I finally got the time to go back and look for the exact post and who made it. In N0.292, Thing Fish was summarizing the known roles.
Quote:
Understudy – one-shot use of the power of any Town power role killed Day or Night One
Except that the Understudy isn’t one-shot: They completely assume the role they’re replacing. But the Mook and the Whelp are. This might mean that Thing Fish read the Mook/Whelp role first, before the Understudy, skimmed, and assumed that it worked the same way. And why would he have read a Scum role before a Town one? Possibly because he got it in a PM, possibly because he scrolled down to check his own team’s roles before reading Town’s. That’s good enough for me, on Day 1.”

I haven’t done any analysis myself on this yet, but, here you go. I need to go re-read D3 again.
ETA: I boggled the spoiler tags. Fixed.

Are you suggesting wolves did not kill her?
I have no idea how you’re getting that out of what I said. I was commenting specifically on the idea that the Wolves killed Angel to protect a Wolf Prof. That idea, and that idea alone, does not make any sense for the reasons outlined. Did the Wolves kill Angel? Most likely yes, since the simplest explanation for the deaths that occurred are Wolf kill Angel, Hitman kills Toejam.
** Pleo **
Again- your (mock) votes on players for something that happened D1 is still bothering me.
You are not really ‘making a case’ on the player just noting one thing that happened Days ago
[anticipating your response .I add]
oh what’s that ? but, you say you got one right-so far- why yes you did – What are the odds of that?
You gain no Town cred in my book for one of the many players on your mock vote list.
Hell if everyone make a short (yours is currently 7) list of suspected players ,eventually one would flip bad guy- and then have the luxury of not getting their hands dirty .
By that I mean odds are everyone who made such a list would have a player from each faction -
Town dark shooting, Wolf adding a Wolf/Mafia adding a Mafia- leaving any Scum a shot at cred if/when the anti Town faction member flipped.
I’ve updated Guiri’s vote counts from N3. Let me know if I missed coloring anyone.

Hey, Paul!
Regarding the vote count on D1 on the vote leaders and how it transpired during the day.
I haven’t done any analysis myself on this yet, but, here you go. I need to go re-read D3 again.
Hey, here I am again being super helpy but not actually analyzing anything. I promise you some unspecified time later I will do analysis, just not now. But later for sure. I have no idea when later is, but it’s totally coming. Also, dead Town Angel totally believed me!
I have no reason to believe that Angel has magic scum/town differentiation powers, regardless of what you or anyone else is saying. But you keep making posts like this, and similar things that are completely devoid of anything resembling real content, and I believe you are doing a damn good job of hiding in plain sight.
Vote Prof Pepper
I am also totally OK with an Ender lynch for the reasons I outlined yesterDay. I could easily be swayed to a Pleo lynch, since I get the feeling that his PIS hit on Thing Fish was a case of reciprocal PIS.

Okay. I spent three hours on that today, and I’m a little overwhelmed by the data. The only analysis I see right off is that Town can’t hunt Scum worth a darn, and that D1 is a crapshoot. Looking at your own votes, I see you voted for people who turned up Town on all three Days. Many have, in fact. I stopped posting fluff for the most part as of yesterday, and have put up a list of all my suspects, and put up and defended alternate methods. I am, in fact, hunting scum.
****Vote Khameleon. ****
He’s on my list, and others have put up a fairly good case.
Which others? Thing Fish?

Which others? Thing Fish?
Johnny Bravo and Hoopy Frood. See above posts for toDay.
Thanks for the work, ** Inner ** I will think on this.
- you miss coloured ThingFish once in D2 but no worries there.*
Soz, that bbcode is not always clear to read.

Let me start by saying that I think my post came off snarkier than I had intended. I apologize for that.
I disagree with Town being unable to hunt scum worth a damn. The game is huge, and a lot of the normal things that Town uses are less effective(since both sets of scum in this game can truly honestly hunt scum without having to fake it since there’s two of them), so 3 days worth of mislynches is just not that bad. There’s been a lot of Town deaths on top of that sure, but that’s to be expected with the sheer number of total kills that exist(at least 3 repeatable ones that we know of, 2 semi one shots, and evidence of at least one more). But in terms of percentage of starting players, Town isn’t actually that bad off. It just look worse because the absolute numbers are higher than people are used to. D1 is pretty crap shooty though, that is unquestionable.
And yes, I voted for Town. Of course, just about everyone did. Just noting that by itself is disingenuous though. D1 was a crapshoot, and I think my vote was well placed if ultimately wrong. D2 I wasn’t here for the last half of the Day due to family issues, as I stated, so I don’t know how much that says. And there’s no way I was moving my vote off Idle D3, based on the way he was acting and how far outside of the correct way to play his actions were. So while I did in fact vote for Town, I don’t feel like I should feel bad for doing so. I was doing what seemed to be the best thing for Town at the time. Hindsight shows that to be wrong, but you know what they say about hindsight.
tiny observation about the vote counts- not much but since I did it I will post
Day one the front runners were all 4 Town
discounting those who only had one voter at all-
Pleo-JohnnyB-Boozy- got some attention
Day two front runners were 2 Town and a claimed 3P
Pleo-SNF were the only others that had more than 2 votes at any time.
Day three I am not sure we can glean anything from the voting.the Idle show borked the data IMO
I am working with the theory that at least one of the players gaining votes are Scum each Day ( I have to think so)
** Pleo ** I have been suspect of since D1 ** Boozy ** has me pinged as well
not sure what do do with it at this time.
